PBP Commentary |
Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between Synyx Dall (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Stormy Crow (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Dall comes to the cage accompanied by In Scarlet Storm. Rumors backstage are that the fighters have been paid to keep it standing but we know that would never happen in MMA!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
3 - 2 - 0, fighting out of New York, Synyx Dall! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
4 - 3 - 0, fighting out of St Petersburg, Stormy Crow! The judges for this bout are Columbo Gatti, Jorge Garcia and Bruno Lombardi.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Dall avoids the head kick by Crow.
Dall looks frustrated there after his takedown attempt is stuffed easily. Dall lands with a right hand. Crow displays some good footwork, moving neatly out of range as Dall throws out the jab. Crow connects with a body shot that sends Dall's belly button to the back. Dall works his jab well there, keeping his opponent at a distance. Crow throws a hook to the side of Dall's head but Dall sees it coming and ducks under it beautifully. Dall misses with an attempted mid kick.
Dall seems to be moving with more speed, compared to his last bout. He must have been working on that in the gym. Crow takes a thudding leg kick, right into the meat of the thigh. We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. No joy there for Dall, who threw a few shots but didn't land.
Crow throws a lazy uppercut
and Dall counters with a good right hand that lands right on the jaw. Crow slips in close and lands a nice hook before moving back out of range.
It looks like Synyx Dall has been cut. Dall dodges the punch combination from Crow.
That's one minute gone in the round. Crow misses with a jab, cross combination.
Dall throws a big counter combination but Crow scrambles out of danger and avoids any damage. Stormy Crow seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout. Dall misses with a two punch combination.
Dall pushing out the jab but it's not landing. Crow lands a leg kick that knocks Dall off balance momentarily. Crow looks more muscular than last time we saw him. He must have been on the weights. Sloppy strikes from Crow. Those never looked like landing. Dall shoots in for a takedown but Crow shows good takedown defense there and keeps this one on the feet. Horrible takedown attempt by Dall or perhaps it was just good defense by Crow, which made it look bad. That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Synyx Dall. That's going to take a lot out of him. Crow rushes forward with a series of wild hooks but Dall moves out of range and avoids them all easily. A shot to the liver by Dall. Beautiful body shot. Dall throws the left hand but Crow avoids the punch easily. Crow will need to tighten up his combinations if he doesn't want to gas himself out, swinging at thin air.
Dall sizes up Crow with a pawing jab and scores with a straight right down the middle.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Crow scores with a sloppy right hand. Dall should have avoided that one. We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out! Crow throws a wild combination but nothing lands. Crow lunges in with swinging rights and lefts but Dall circles away quickly and effectively. Good leg kick by Dall there. It's the ones that make that thud noise that hurt and that was an almighty thud.
Dall throws a lazy right hand but Crow sees it coming a mile off and sidesteps it easily. Crow scores with a head kick.
Dall lands a jab to the head.
Dall shoots in with a takedown attempt and he has Crow pinned against the cage. Crow gets the underhooks and manages to circle away. Dall avoids a punch combination nicely.
Crow pivots, looking for a leg kick but Dall is out of range and Crow settles back down.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Crow throws a hook to the body but it doesn't connect.
Dall looks shocked there as he takes a right hand to the temple. Crow throws a combination. Dall tries to block but a couple of punches get through. Dall displays some good footwork, moving neatly out of range as Crow throws out the jab. Dall shoots in for a takedown and gets it. Let's see what he's got on the mat. Crow trying to control the position here. Crow controls Dall momentarily but Dall frees himself. We get told so often about how wrestlers don't like to be on their backs. Let's see if Crow can do anything to dispel that myth. Dall drops back looking for a leg! Crow is in trouble here! The fighters roll with the hold and Crow manages to kick Dall off! Dall jumps back into Crow's guard. Dall stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Crow swivels though and keeps the full guard.
That's four minutes gone in the round. Crow controls Dall momentarily but Dall frees himself. Crow is controlling Dall's posture. The referee claps his hands together and tells the fighters to work. Crow trying to control the position.
The referee has motioned to the fighters to stand back up. He just wasn't happy with the level of activity. Crow throws a combination but comes up with nothing but fresh air.
Crow closes the distance and lands a one-two. This has been an exciting period of action! Some wild striking there from Crow.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.
Stormy Crow dominated that round. The cut man is working on Synyx Dall's cut. The minute break is over - no more time for sponges and pep talks - back to the action!
Dall closes this distance looking for a takedown but Crow circles away. Dall lunges at Crow with a hook that half lands and is half blocked by Crow's hand. Crow misses with a few strikes there.
Dall seem to be loading up, looking for a big counter. Dall waving his hands out in front of him, looking to distract Crow. Dall shoots in and drives through. Crow sprawls well. Crow lands a glancing blow to the side of Dall's head. Crow has his head snapped back a nice jab. A little nod from Crow there as he acknowledges the shot. Crow throws a hook but Dall blocks it. Crow thows a left - swing and a miss! Dall darts in and lands a nice takedown into half guard. Dall is sneakily working for an arm triangle but Crow sees it coming and defends easily. The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here. Crow wants to improve his position but Dall is controlling well.
That's one minute gone in the round. Dall is thinking about going for an arm triangle but he can't free his leg.
Crow tries to roll over but Dall keeps him under control. Crow is trying to control but can't.
Dall tries to pass to full mount but Crow defends it. The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing. Dall is working for a submission of some sort.
Crow works his way to full guard. Good work.
That's two minutes gone in the round. My god... these two guys really need to pick up the pace or everyone will leave to go get a beer. Dall wants to pass the guard but Crow is keeping the position. Dall is working hard here to advance position. Crow is controlling Dall's posture. Crow keeping full guard, as Dall tries to pass.

The referee decides to stand the fighters back up. Dall moves out of range as Crow strikes. A bone on bone clash there as Crow blocks the leg kick.
Stormy Crow is looking to keep the fight on the feet at all costs. Crow misses with a half-hearted attempt at a head kick.
Crow looks to land a combination. Dall sees it coming but can only parry a couple of the shots. Dall doesn't react quick enough there as he takes a shot to the body. Dall lands with a cross to side of his opponent's head. Crow fails to land with the punch combination there - jab, cross, hook, miss, miss, miss.
Dall throws a push kick but Crow slaps the foot to one side. Crow throws a jab, cross combination which is slipped
and Dall counters with a driving takedown into guard. Nice work there by Dall. The crowd are loving this. Great action here. Dall postures up as if he's going to throw some strikes but drops back for an ankle! Crow is in big trouble! He looks ready to tap! But no, he's escaped and dives on top of Dall, into his guard. Crow tries to stand but Dall is controlling from the bottom.
That's four minutes gone in the round. Dall is looking for a guillotine. You can't force these things though and Crow defends well. Dall escapes his hips to the side and looks to be working for an armbar. Crow gives him a little smile and shakes his head. No chance. Crow wants to stand but Dall has a closed guard, so he can't escape. And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.
Synyx Dall dominated that second round. The cut man is working on Synyx Dall's cut. That's the end of the interval. I'm sure that seemed a lot quicker than a minute for our two fighters! Back to the action. This is the final round!
Crow misses with a jab and misses with a cross straight after too.
Dall swung with a counter punch to the body but it didn't connect. Crow throws a head kick that misses and slips in the process. He scrambles back to his feet and the fighters circle. Dall tries to counter with a takedown but Crow is quick to defend against it. Dall ducks under an overhand right and circles away with a smile on his face. Crow throws a series of punches but Dall avoids them all with ease. Dall scores with a shot to the body.
Crow checks the leg kick nicely there.
Dall throws a hook to the body but it doesn't connect.

Dall lands a slapping body shot.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. Dall throws a wild combination but nothing lands. A momentary lapse in concentration from Crow enables Dall to shoot in and score with a neat double leg. Crow manages to secure a closed guard as the fighters hit the mat. Crow looking to control the pace of the fight rather than finish it.
That's one minute gone in the round. Dall won't allow Crow to sweep him here. Dall drops back looking for a heel hook - he quickly realises he's not going to get it but Crow manages to dive on top of him before he can escape and now Dall has Crow in his guard.
Crow really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Dall. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out. Crow has decided he wants to stand but the closed guard of Dall is proving hard to escape from. Dall is working an open guard here, looking to improve his position. No doubt that will leave him open to counters but at least he's being more offensive. Crow wants to stand and escape but instead Dall has hit a sweep and he's now on top in guard.
Dall is holding a leg here, probably looking for an ankle lock - he drops back and goes for it! Crow is in trouble! Is it all over??? No! Crow has escaped and now he's on top!

Dall wants to pass the guard but Crow is keeping the position. Crow pulls Dall in close to prevent any damage. Dall stands and throws Crow's legs to the side, diving into side control.
That's four minutes gone in the round. Neither fighter has done anything of merit for a good minute or two here and the crowd are not happy about it. Crow tries to improve position but can't. Dall is trying to get an arm triangle but Crow is defending well. Crow tries to get back to half guard but can't. The crowd thankful this round is nearly over. Crow holds on to Dall's head and controls the position momentarily. Crow wants to improve his position, back to half guard but Dall has ideas of his own. He's got hold of Crow's far side arm and it looks like he's got an Americana. Ohh! Ohhhh! OOOOOOOOOH! A human being's arm is not meant to bend like that! Crow is tapping like a morse code operator on the Titanic! SOS SOS! He's out of here! Great win for Dall!
Ladies and gentlemen, after 4:58 of round 3, we have a winner by way of Submission (Americana). Synyx Dall! A less than humble Synyx Dall misjudged his post fight interview somewhat and came across a little too arrogant whilst trying to hype up his own abilities. Stormy Crow was interviewed post fight and said 'c'mon release me from your roster sir'.
