PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a middleweight MMA rules bout between Kira Izumi (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Jackie Chan (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Izumi comes to the cage accompanied by The Final by Dir En Grey. There are an array of beautiful celebrities at ringside tonight! I wonder if any of them paid for their tickets.

Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.

And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Tokyo, Jackie Chan!
The judges for this bout are Shirou Masuda, Yasuomi Hirokawa and Shigeki Sano.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Chan fails with a takedown attempt.
Izumi blocks a head kick by Chan.
Chan takes a shot to the nose. Hopefully that hasn't broken it.

Chan gets taken down but at least he's managed to land in guard.

Chan has butterfly guard. He's looking to stand up here. He pushes Izumi off him and springs to his feet nicely. The crowd applauds.

Izumi looks for a takedown. He's got it. We're now in half guard.
Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show!
Izumi controlling the action here.

Izumi is working for a submission of some sort.

That's one minute gone in the round.
The referee calls for the fighters to work.
Izumi wants to take a breather but Chan is having none of it.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
A lull in the action here being met with boos from the crowd.
Izumi is really struggling to control Chan but he's trying to hold on to the position.
Izumi trying to mount his opponent but Chan defends it.
Chan is trying to get back to full guard.

Chan pushes Izumi off and gets back to his feet.
Chan swats away the attempt to clinch by Izumi.
Chan swings away with a body shot that misses
and Izumi counters with a shot to the ribs. That looked like it hurt.

That's three minutes gone in the round.
Chan misses with a jab and misses with a cross straight after too.
Izumi throws a feint and then finishes with a kick to the body.

Izumi closes the distance and gets a trip takedown into side control. Chan quickly recovers to half guard.

Chan makes some distance and scrambles quickly back to his feet. Nice work!
Chan should think about turning a few of those tyres round his middle into muscle if he wants people to take him seriously as an athlete.
Chan takes a kick to the side of the head.
Chan throws a body kick but he was well out of range there.

Izumi gets the takedown into side control.

Chan throws his opponent off and manages to get back to his feet! Nicely done!
Chan looks winded!
This has been an exciting period of action!
Izumi wants to clinch up but Chan keeps it at a distance.
A nice side step and Chan releases a counter shot to the body, but it doesn't find it's home.
Chan has a nice red mark on his side after a thudding body kick by Izumi.
Izumi fakes a jab and scores with a low kick.
A big right from Chan misses.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
Chan tries to score a power double leg takedown but Izumi sees that one coming and sprawls well. That will dishearten Chan somewhat.

Izumi fakes a strike and closes the distance, dragging Chan to the ground. Izumi is now in Chan's guard.
Chan wants to get back to his feet but Izumi passes into half guard.

The fighters are starting to get a bit slippery now, which will make submissions a bit more difficult.
Izumi stops Chan from getting back to his feet.

Izumi is trying for a kimura here. Chan looks like he's in a lot of pain... and he's tapping out! Izumi wins by kimura!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 4:55 of round 1, we have a winner by way of Submission (Kimura). Kira Izumi!
A relieved looking Kira Izumi thanked the fans for their support and gave the usual line about them being amazing. They seemed to believe that he actually meant it.
