PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a light heavyweight MMA rules bout between Coy Grant (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Sir Evereld (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Evereld has chosen Indonesia Raya as his entrance music, which hasn't gone down very well with the crowd. Both fighter's entrance songs getting the crowd jumping here.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 3 - 4 - 0, fighting out of New York, Coy Grant!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of New York, Sir Evereld!
The judges for this bout are Russell Pearce, Bruno Lombardi and Anthony Taglia.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Evereld shoots in looking for a double leg takedown. Grant defends it nicely.
Evereld throws a right hand that Grant ducks under and follows up with a left that Grant also avoids with ease.

Evereld gets caught napping as Grant dives in and scores a takedown. Evereld manages to retain guard.
Evereld tries to land a sweep but no joy.
Grant wants to stand but Evereld is controlling his posture from full guard.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Evereld pulls Grant in close to prevent any damage.
Grant could do with losing a few pounds - he looks very soft around the mid section, to put it politely.
Evereld wants to sweep here but Grant controlling him for the moment.

Evereld utilising some decent striking defenses from the guard, preventing the ground and pound.
Evereld has control of Grant's left arm, preventing Grant from doing any damage.

The referee has decided to stand the fighters back up, so we'll restart on the feet.

Evereld looks for a takedown. He's got it. We're now in half guard.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

Evereld takes a deep breath and rests his weight momentarily on top of his opponent, to control the position.
The referee is pacing around the two fighters - he looks like he's thinking about a standup.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

The referee has motioned to the fighters to stand back up. He just wasn't happy with the level of activity.

Evereld is looking for a takedown here. He's shot in and has managed to get it, finishing up in Grant's half guard.
Evereld perhaps working for something from half guard, or maybe not. It looks like he's just sitting there.

That's four minutes gone in the round.

Evereld is looking for a kimura. It's going to be difficult to finish that from half guard though and Grant defends it well.
Evereld prevents Grant from improving his position.

Boooooooooooooooooooo!!! God, this has been a terrible round. Come on you two, sort yourselves out!
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Sir Evereld dominated that round.
That's the end of the interval. I'm sure that seemed a lot quicker than a minute for our two fighters! Back to the action.



Evereld closes the distance and gets a double leg, slamming Grant to the mat! Grant manages to get full guard.
Evereld controls from within his opponent's guard.
Evereld has been the more effective fighter overall so far.
Evereld advances position into side control!
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
The referee asks Evereld politely if he wouldn't mind getting on with it and actually doing something. Evereld prefers to stall for the moment though.
Sir Evereld has got the better of the ground game so far.
Evereld wants to stand but Grant is controlling his arm.

A bit of a lull in the action. I'm sure it will pick up again soon... even if the ref has to physically pick them up and put them back on their feet.
You can see the frustration on Grant's face, being in this tough position on the bottom.
Grant is looking to regain half guard here but Evereld keeps moving and retains side control.

Well. There's a bit of a lull in the action here and the crowd are starting to get restless.
Evereld is continuing to stall.
Grant prevents Evereld from moving into mount.
Evereld in side control lands a decent elbow.
Grant is letting Evereld control him for a moment.
Evereld's corner are shouting for him to control the position and he seems happy to oblige.

The referee has motioned to the fighters to stand back up. He just wasn't happy with the level of activity.

Evereld shoots in and gets a takedown into half guard. Evereld showed some decent athleticism there.

That's three minutes gone in the round.
Evereld is just sitting in half guard, waiting for something to happen.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
The crowd are hurling abuse towards the fighters... You can hardly blame them though because there isn't a lot going on in the fight.
We've had a lack of effective grappling in the last minute or so, which could well see a referee standup.

The referee has stepped in and called for a break in the action. We'll restart on the feet.

Grant gets taken down but at least he's managed to land in guard.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Sir Evereld showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards.
That's time! Grant's corner gives him a slap on the ass as he gets ready to fight. This is the final round!



Evereld closes the distance and after a bit of a stuggle, scores a takedown into Grant's guard.
Grant can't do much from the bottom at the moment, as Evereld controls the pace.
Let's hope that Evereld has the urge to step up the pace any second now because for the last 15 or 20 seconds he's just been holding on tight.
Grant controls Evereld momentarily but Evereld frees himself.
Grant might be looking to lock onto one of his opponent's long limbs for a submission, whilst we're on the ground.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Evereld stands and throws Grant's legs to the side, diving into side control.
Evereld slows the pace down.

Evereld works to advance to full mount. Grant defends for a few seconds but eventually he succumbs.
Evereld controlling his opponent.

Evereld controlling the position easily from mount.

The crowd are hurling abuse towards the fighters... You can hardly blame them though because there isn't a lot going on in the fight.
Grant is trying to escape the mount but Evereld keeps good control and instead manages to take Grant's back.
Evereld has good solid back control here.

So, who will make the next big move? In this position it could be crucial.

The crowd are starting to boo a lack of action.
Grant is being controlled on the ground here - he must escape this position otherwise surely the end is near.
We're seeing a lot of stalling here from Evereld.
Evereld has the hooks in. Grant is trying to push off one leg but he has to do so cautiously to avoid being submitted.
Both fighters are breathing heavily.
Evereld controlling from the back.
More stalling from Evereld.
Boooooooooooooooooooo!!! God, this has been a terrible round. Come on you two, sort yourselves out!

And that's the end of the fight!
Sir Evereld comfortably won the final round on my scorecard.
Well Evereld has outworked and out performed his opponent in all aspects of the game today. He was simply too good and the decision should be no more than a formality. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
