Coming up we have a middleweight MMA rules bout between Melvin Gustin (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Gianpaolo Volpicelli (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Man, I cannot wait for this one!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the middleweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
22 - 10 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Melvin Gustin! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
12 - 9 - 0, fighting out of Los Angeles, Gianpaolo Volpicelli! The judges for this bout are Jack Bonds, Don Winkell and Frank Antenori.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Gustin throws a head kick but Volpicelli moves out of range.
Gustin doesn't manage to clinch there - Volpicelli circles away.
Gustin lands a big head kick that sends Volpicelli tumbling to the mat! Gustin takes a step backwards and waves Volpicelli back to his feet - he wants the finish!
It looks like Gianpaolo Volpicelli has been cut. Gustin has managed to clinch.
Gustin misses with a shot to the kidneys.
Volpicelli on the defensive, avoiding the knees to the body.
Volpicelli blocks a punch to the side of the head.
Gustin misses with a shot to the kidneys.
Gustin slowing the pace effectively. The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here. Volpicelli is trying to break the clinch but Gustin is controlling him. Volpicelli tries to throw a body punch but Gustin avoids it by throwing Volpicelli back against the cage. Gustin scores with a shot to the side of Volpicelli's head. A short uppercut from Gustin. Volpicelli is trying to maintain a safe position but Gustin gets an underhook and turns Volpicelli into the cage. The fighters are pressed against the cage, as the pace of the fight slows. Gustin tries a shoulder strike but it doesn't do any damage.
That's one minute gone in the round. Volpicelli breaks the clinch.
Gianpaolo Volpicelli seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout. Gustin throws a big shot that misses. And Volpicelli tries to counter it with a takedown but Gustin pushes his down on his head and steps out. Gustin misses with a half-hearted attempt at a head kick.
Volpicelli fakes a couple of low kicks, before throwing one on the third attempt. It connects and Gustin has to reset his feet before getting ready to engage. Volpicelli shoots in and bounces Gustin off the cage to secure the takedown into guard. Gustin utilising some decent striking defenses from the guard, preventing the ground and pound. Gustin keeping moving, preventing Volpicelli from controlling successfully. Volpicelli has the superior BJJ but he's also working some ground strikes into his gameplan.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Gustin wants to get back to his feet but Volpicelli is in a dominant position and won't allow it. Volpicelli stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Gustin swivels though and keeps the full guard. Volpicelli throws a big right hand that misses.
The referee has motioned to the fighters to stand back up. He just wasn't happy with the level of activity. Volpicelli takes a swing at Gustin's ribcage but misses. Gustin on the wrong end of a nice low kick. He's acting like it's no big deal but he doesn't want to take many more of those. Gustin avoids the body shot from Volpicelli.
Gustin tries to land with a swinging hook to the body but Volpicelli was well out of range. Poor timing from Gustin. Volpicelli lands a leg kick. The shin dug right into the meat of the thigh. Volpicelli throws a hook but Gustin blocks it. Gustin tries to counter by moving into the clinch but Volpicelli manages to circle out of the way. Volpicelli misses the shot to the body.
That's three minutes gone in the round. An inside leg kick lands from Gustin. Gustin swings and misses with a shot to the body and Volpicelli counters with a stiff right hand.
It looks like Melvin Gustin has been cut. Melvin Gustin is looking to keep the fight on the feet at all costs. A shot to the liver by Volpicelli. Beautiful body shot. Volpicelli moves into range and connects with a jab. Volpicelli misses with a hook. Gustin ducked under it nicely. A looping hook to the body misses from Volpicelli. Gustin does a little dance to reset his feet. Gustin is trying to close the distance and clinch up, after that failed offence from Volpicelli. Gustin ducks right into an uppercut from Volpicelli. Gustin moves away from the strike by Volpicelli. Gustin pushes Volpicelli up against the cage in a clinch. Gustin fails to land with a short punch on the inside.
Volpicelli throws a head punch that misses. Both guys are working to get underhooks. Volpicelli tries to land knees in the clinch but Gustin avoids the damage to the body. Gustin working Volpicelli over with knees to the body. We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out! Volpicelli goes for a body shot but it's blocked.
Volpicelli misses with the head strike.
That's four minutes gone in the round. Gustin takes an elbow to the forehead. Gustin pushes off and circles away, back to the middle of the mat. Gustin tries to clinch but Volpicelli moves out of range. No luck for Volpicelli with that takedown attempt. Gustin misses with a head kick.
Volpicelli goes for a spinning back kick but it misses. Gustin lands a beauty of a right hand that gets the crowd cheering.
Gustin looks to score with a combo but nothing lands. Gustin throws a head kick but Volpicelli moves out of range.
Gustin throws a head kick that half lands.
A head kick misses from Gustin. Gustin fails in his attempt to clinch. Volpicelli is the aggressor but that punch slipped nicely by Gustin. Volpicelli keeping a good distance there, avoiding the body shot.
Gustin has taken the fight to the clinch.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.
Melvin Gustin dominated that round. Both fighters have cut men working on them during the interval. The minute break is over - no more time for sponges and pep talks - back to the action!
A head kick misses from Gustin. Gustin tries to clinch up. Gustin tries to close the distance and clinch up against the cage but Volpicelli paws at him with a jab and circles away. As Gustin backs off Volpicelli throws a huge counter combo but Gustin manages to avoid it all. Gustin misses with a half-hearted attempt at a head kick.
Volpicelli connects with a solid leg kick. Gustin swats away the attempt to clinch by Volpicelli. Gustin is looking to counter the offense by Volpicelli and move into the clinch. Boom, another hit is landed. "You're gunna get knocked out" taunts Gustin, as that shot connected.
A punch combination from Volpicelli misses. Volpicelli shoots in but doesn't get the takedown and Gustin counters by clinching up. We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. A short right from Gustin on the inside. Gustin lands a left hand.
Volpicelli is rocked! Gustin's corner calls for him to break the clinch, which he does. Gustin stumbles momentarily as he takes a strong leg kick from Volpicelli. Volpicelli ducks under a wild hook from Gustin. Volpicelli is clearly trying to counter these attacks from Gustin with a body shot. Melvin Gustin is looking to throw some combinations by the looks of things.
That's one minute gone in the round. Gustin tries to clinch up but Volpicelli circles away and keeps his distance. Volpicelli throws a body shot but no joy. Gustin throws a sloppy head kick and Volpicelli moves out of range easily. Gustin throws a monster uppercut resembling something out of street fighter but it doesn't land. Gustin clinches with his opponent.
Gustin pushes Volpicelli back against the cage and unloads with a body punch. Volpicelli pushes off and fires off an elbow that misses, before clinching up again, against the cage. Volpicelli lands a nice elbow from the clinch. Volpicelli's corner calls for him to break the clinch, which he does. A head kick misses from Volpicelli. Gustin is really dominating this fight. Is there anything that Volpicelli can do to turn this around? Gustin clobbers Volpicelli with an overhand right that has the crowd gasping. That made a horrendous noise. Gustin tries a head kick but it misses.
Gustin buckles his opponent's knee momentarily with a nice leg kick.
Volpicelli walks straight into a jab right on the nose. That one stung - he's blinking and trying to clear his head. Volpicelli is still on wobbly legs! Can Gustin finish him? Volpicelli walks straight into a right hand from Gustin - that's dropped him! Gustin jumps into mount and starts pounding away - can he finish?! More strikes go undefended and the referee has to dive in to save Volpicelli from any more punishment! Volpicelli complains about the stoppage but falls over as he tries to stand back up, so it was clearly a good stoppage.
Ladies and gentlemen, after 1:59 of round 2, we have a winner by way of TKO (Punches). Melvin Gustin! Melvin Gustin seemed lost for words in his post fight interview but he remembered to thank his fans and directed everyone to his website.
