Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the featherweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
0 - 1 - 0, fighting out of The Island, Rock Mountain! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
0 - 1 - 0, fighting out of The Island, DJ Shaw! The judges for this bout are Michael Johnstone, Santiago Holmes and Dirk Anderson.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Shaw tries to close the distance and clinch up against the cage but Mountain paws at him with a jab and circles away. Shaw throws a right hand that Mountain ducks under and follows up with a left that Mountain also avoids with ease. Mountain clinches up with Shaw and pushes him back against the cage. Mountain scores with a shot to the side of Shaw's head. A right handed body shot lands from Mountain.
Mountain tries to pull guard but can't drag his opponent to the mat. Shaw just stands there and leans against the cage. Mountain leaning against his opponent.
Mountain gets through Shaw's defenses to land a nice punch to the side of the head. Mountain on the defensive, avoiding the knees to the body.

Mountain has Shaw pushed against the cage. We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. Shaw gets double underhooks to prevent a takedown attempt from Mountain.

Mountain pushes Shaw back against the cage and lands a hook to the side of the head. Mountain lands with a light punch inside. Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show! Shaw has Mountain pressed up against the cage and is working for takedown. Mountain manages to improve position though and keeps the fight standing. Rock Mountain has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of DJ Shaw. Mountain lands a left hand that snaps the head of Shaw backwards. Mountain makes some space for himself and lands an uppercut. Shaw manages to pull guard.
Shaw avoiding any damage from the ground and pound. Shaw is pulling down on Mountain's head to control his posture. Mountain has to be careful here, sitting in the guard of a superior BJJ player. Shaw working the defensive guard well to avoid strikes from Mountain. Mountain looks to be in better condition than last time we saw him fight. Obviously he's been working hard on his cardio.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Mountain lands a couple of digs. Shaw is throwing his legs up, looking for submissions. Mountain is aware though and is defending well. Mountain is stalling in the full guard. Shaw is looking for a triangle here but Mountain uses the submission attempt to pass into side control.

That's four minutes gone in the round. Well. There's a bit of a lull in the action here and the crowd are starting to get restless. Shaw works his way to full guard. Good work. Mountain controlling from the top position. Mountain will need to keep those long limbs tucked in whilst he's on the ground, to prevent any submissions. The fighters are starting to get a bit slippery now, which will make submissions a bit more difficult. Shaw bucks up whilst keeping hold of a body lock, managing to reverse the position. Now he's in top in Mountain's guard.
Shaw looks winded! Shaw stands up from guard. Let's bang! Rock Mountain seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout. Mountain rushes Shaw and presses him up against the cage. Mountain struggles to land a body shot inside as Shaw controls his hands.
Mountain scores with a nice hook to the head. And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.
Rock Mountain dominated that round. That's the end of the interval. I'm sure that seemed a lot quicker than a minute for our two fighters! Back to the action.
Mountain will have to do better than that with his takedown attempts. The fight moves into the clinch position. Mountain lands a left hand that snaps the head of Shaw backwards. Mountain lands with a short head shot on the inside. Mountain is really dominating this fight. Is there anything that Shaw can do to turn this around? Shaw changes levels and goes for a takedown here. Mountain fights it off and pushes away nicely.

Rock Mountain dominated that second round. The fighters' corners scream their final instructions, as the referee calls time. Here we go, back to the action! Let's hear some noise people - this is the final round!
Mountain scores with the left hand. Shaw knows he should have avoided that one. Shaw displays good takedown defense there as he swats away a double leg from Mountain. Mountain closes the distance and clinches. Come on Mountain - let's have some action - none of this stalling nonsense.

Mountain prevents Shaw from breaking the clinch. Mountain is working on a leg, looking for a takedown but Shaw is defending well. That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Rock Mountain. That's going to take a lot out of him. The referee is keeping an eye on Mountain - much more stalling and he will separate the fighters.
Shaw has hold of one of Mountain's legs. Mountain is fighting the takedown attempt but Shaw gets the trip and lands the takedown into guard. Shaw slips effortlessly into side control - very nice. Mountain parries the strikes from Shaw easily there. Shaw is wary of posturing up too much because it might enable Mountain to escape.
Both fighters are breathing heavily. Shaw wants to control but Mountain is keeping him busy.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Shaw tries to score with some ground and pound. Mountain controls his posture well this time though and the shots don't do any damage. Mountain can't do much from the bottom here. Shaw fails to land a wild elbow strike.
Shaw is looking to take a break and control but Mountain is keeping him honest, looking to work from the bottom.
That's three minutes gone in the round. A lull in the action here as Shaw stalls from top position. Mountain taking a bit of punishment here - Shaw scoring with strikes.
That's four minutes gone in the round. The crowd are getting on the fighters' backs, as the pace has dropped off in the last minute or so. Mountain is looking to reverse the position. Shaw stands up. Shaw fails with the takedown. Shaw misses with a takedown and Mountain holds on and brings the fighters into a clinch. Boooooooooooooooooooo!!! God, this has been a terrible round. Come on you two, sort yourselves out! A nice left hand lands by Mountain.
Shaw misses with a knee to the head. DJ Shaw has stepped it up - he knows he needs a finish here! Rock Mountain is fighting for a decision here - he's started to take the cautious approach. Mountain lands a nice shot to the body.
And that's the end of the fight! That was a close round. You could make an argument for either fighter but I would give it to Rock Mountain. Well I reckon that's a shut out for Mountain, winning every round. Will the judges agree? They are the ones who matter, even if they are often depressingly incompetent.
