Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between Willem Kriel (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Diego Ocheda (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Kriel comes into the arena with Jack Parow & Freshlyground - Army Of One blaring out of the sound system. On his way into the cage it seems that Willem Kriel has been attacked by a crazed fan! It looks like it might have been the just bleed guy! Luckily Willem Kriel seems to be OK! I thought that lunatic was in prison!?

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of
1 - 0 - 0, fighting out of New York, Willem Kriel!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of
3 - 5 - 0, fighting out of New York, Diego Ocheda!
The judges for this bout are Reed Andrews, John Roberts and John Kavanagh.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Ocheda on the wrong end of an overhand right that came out of nowhere.
Ocheda takes one to the chin there.
Crunch! Kriel slams his shin into Ocheda's torso.
Kriel lands with a nice body punch.

Kriel connects with a hook to the side of his opponent's head.
Kriel misses with a hook
and Ocheda counters with a nice shoot takedown that brings the fighters to the ground.
Kriel manages to wriggle out and sneak his way back up to his feet, so the fighters are now clinched up against the cage.
I was talking to Kriel's coach per-fight and he was telling me that they'd been working on the clinch in the runup to this fight.
The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so!

Kriel pushes off and circles away, back to the middle of the mat.
That's one minute gone in the round.
Ocheda takes a thudding leg kick, right into the meat of the thigh.
Kriel keeps his opponent at a distance with a nice jab.
Kriel with a nice looking leg kick. You could hear that one land in a back row.
Kriel misses with a body shot.
Kriel jabbing away but nothing is landing.
And Ocheda tries to counter it with a takedown but Kriel pushes his down on his head and steps out.
Willem Kriel is looking to keep the fight on the feet at all costs.
Kriel throws a body shot but no joy.
Like a baseball bat into the meat of his leg there - nice leg kick by Kriel.
That's two minutes gone in the round.
Kriel connects with a good straight punch right through the guard and follows up with a right hook and a left hook! That last one sent Ocheda tumbling to the canvas! Kriel pours on the pressure with more strikes and the referee has no hesitation diving in to stop the fight! Ocheda was done - good stoppage!
Ladies and gentlemen, after 2:09 of round 1, we have a winner by way of TKO (Punches). Willem Kriel!
Willem Kriel bigged himself up after the win. The crowd seemed to love it.
