Coming up we have a bantamweight MMA rules bout between Franklin Gardner (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Ryuto Sawada (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). These two fighters really are very evenly matched on the feet - it will be fascinating to see who can assert themselves in that aspect of the fight.

The judges for this bout are Hirohito Nitta, Yukihiro Yamamoto and Shigeki Sano.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Gardner keeps the fight on the outside.
Sawada tries to close the distance and clinch up against the cage but Gardner paws at him with a jab and circles away.
Sawada shoots in looking for a single leg takedown. Gardner is trying to defend but Sawada finishes it well and ends up in half guard. Let's see if he can advance position further.
Sawada is sneakily working for an arm triangle but Gardner sees it coming and defends easily.

Well. There's a bit of a lull in the action here and the crowd are starting to get restless.

Gardner manages to sweep nicely, so he's now on top. Sawada manages to get himself to full guard.

Sawada seems keen to control rather than go for a submission, at least for now.
Gardner postures up as if he's going to throw some strikes but drops back for an ankle! Sawada is in big trouble! He looks ready to tap! But no, he's escaped and dives on top of Gardner, into his guard.
