Coming up we have a middleweight MMA rules bout between Julius Evans (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Jojo Banzai (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). We have two fighters making their debuts here, so let's see who comes out of this one with their first professional victory.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the middleweight division.

And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Jojo Banzai!
The judges for this bout are Gregory Folan, Yves DeLean and Elvis Blanc.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Evans misses with a takedown attempt - Banzai sprawls well and throws a nice strike on the way out which just misses.
Banzai is looking to land body kicks.
Banzai defends well against a solid takedown attempt from Evans.
Banzai throws a sloppy head kick and Evans moves out of range easily.
Banzai has a takedown stuffed.
Evans looks to score with a jab to the body but Banzai is just out of range.

and Evans counters with a right hand to the body.
Evans really is a fat lump.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

Evans moves into the clinch successfully.
Evans is looking for a takedown up against the cage. Banzai gets underhooks though and prevents the takedown attempt.

Evans is looking for a kimura. He might have it! No, Banzai has escaped the position, nice work there.

Banzai tries to improve position but can't.
Evans throwing ground and pound but whilst doing so, he forgets to control position and Banzai works his way back to half guard. Good composure under pressure.

The referee has motioned to the fighters to stand back up. He just wasn't happy with the level of activity.
Evans takes a thudding leg kick, right into the meat of the thigh.

and Banzai counters with a quick right hand to the jaw.


It looks like Julius Evans has been cut.
Evans shoots in and drives through. Banzai sprawls well.

That's the end of the interval. I'm sure that seemed a lot quicker than a minute for our two fighters! Back to the action.


Banzai fails with the takedown.
Evans appears to be looking for a big counter.
Evans fails to land with the punch combination there - jab, cross, hook, miss, miss, miss.
Banzai raises up his leg as if looking to counter with a high kick.
Banzai is trying hard to land a takedown here. Evans sprawls well and keeps this one on the feet.
Jojo Banzai seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.

Evans closes the distance and presses his opponent up against the cage.
Banzai fails to pull the fight into his guard.

Evans's head jolts backwards as he takes an uppercut right on the button!

Banzai preventing the ground and pound from doing any damage.
Banzai will have to put a bit more behind his punches if he's going to do any damage from this position.
Banzai has his hands on Evans's head, controlling the position.
Evans working in close now, lands a nice elbow to the side of Banzai's head.
Evans might be looking to lock onto one of his opponent's long limbs for a submission, whilst we're on the ground.

A few boos can be heard. I'm sure they will multiply if the fighters don't pick up the pace.

Banzai had isolated an arm as going for a kimura. Evans defends it easily.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Banzai seems keen to control rather than go for a submission, at least for now.

The referee decides to stand the fighters back up.
Banzai shoots in with a takedown attempt and he has Evans pinned against the cage. Evans gets the underhooks and manages to circle away.
Banzai is breathing heavily.
Evans tries to close the distance and clinch but Banzai swats him to one side with an open hand palm strike and circles away.
Evans wants to clinch up but Banzai keeps it at a distance.
Evans has a takedown stuffed.

Evans moves into the clinch successfully.
Banzai on the defensive, avoiding the knees to the body.
Evans goes for a takedown in the clinch but Banzai prevents it.
Evans wants a takedown but no success here.
Evans wants to take the fight to the mat but Banzai manages to get underhooks and keep the fight in the clinch.

Banzai's corner calls for him to break the clinch, which he does.
Banzai scores with a reasonable looking shot to the body. Evans doesn't seem bothered though.

Banzai gets his takedown attempt stuffed easily
and Evans makes him pay by landing a nice hook to the body before moving out of range.
A telegraphed takedown attempt from Banzai is defended easily by Evans.
Evans is looking to counter punch.
Banzai shoots in looking for a takedown but Evans manages to keep the fight standing, pushing Banzai's face into the canvas for good measure before circling away.
Evans lunges in with swinging rights and lefts but Banzai circles away quickly and effectively.
Evans leaves Banzai with his face pressed against the mat as he sprawls beautifully, defending against a solid takedown attempt.

And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

That was a close second round but I would say that Julius Evans will probably get the nod.

The fighters get back to their feet, the hooter sounds and we're back to the action! This is the final round!


Evans dives in for a single leg takedown but Banzai sprawls and the fighters end up clinched against the cage.

Banzai gets taken down but at least he's managed to land in guard.

Banzai scrambles and gets back to his feet.
Banzai tries to shoot in for a takedown. He's got hold of a leg but Evans swivels and escapes.
Banzai stooping low to avoid any incoming strikes and then lunges in with an uppercut come cross that lands flush.

and Evans counters with a two punch combo.
Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show!
Evans misses with a takedown attempt - Banzai sprawls well and throws a nice strike on the way out which just misses.

Banzai rushes Evans and pushes him back against the cage in a clinch.
Both fighters are breathing heavily.

An uppercut to the body lands inside from Banzai.
Evans drops to a knee looking for a takedown but Banzai gets the underhooks and prevents it.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Julius Evans. That's going to take a lot out of him.

Banzai not looking particularly offensive just at the moment.
Banzai pulls Evans in close to prevent any damage.
Evans lands a couple of decent looking shots.

Banzai is doing well to control the posture of his opponent and prevent any damage.
A big thud reverberates around the arena there as Evans accidentally thumps the mat. Hopefully he's not broken his hand.

Banzai isolates an arm and boxes in a triangle. Evans stacks Banzai on his neck as he steps over and passes to the side. He's now in a much more dominant position where he can look to do some serious damage. Nice move by Evans!

Evans is thwarting Banzai's attempts to control the position.

The crowd are starting to boo a lack of action.
Banzai slips a foot under and gets full guard. Nice work.
Banzai thows some rabbit punches from the bottom but they don't do any damage.

The referee decides to stand the fighters back up.

Banzai has managed to clinch.

Banzai is looking for a takedown.
Evans has hold of a leg and is looking for a trip takedown. Banzai avoids it nicely though and we remain in the clinch.

Jojo Banzai comfortably won the final round on my scorecard.
Well Banzai has outworked and out performed his opponent in all aspects of the game today. He was simply too good and the decision should be no more than a formality. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
