PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a lightweight MMA rules bout between Dopple Ganger (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Shane Krestner (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Krestner has chosen Remember the Name as his entrance music, which hasn't gone down very well with the crowd. We have two fighters making their debuts here, so let's see who comes out of this one with their first professional victory.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the lightweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of New York, Dopple Ganger!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of New York, Shane Krestner!
The judges for this bout are Franklyn Lucas, Jorge Garcia and Dean Styles.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Ganger shoots in but Krestner avoids the takedown attempt easily.
A telegraphed right hand from Krestner misses the target.
Krestner showing good head movement there, avoiding the strikes from Ganger.
Horrible takedown by Ganger or perhaps it was just good defense by Krestner which made him look bad.

Ganger closes the distance and looks for a trip takedown... aaaand he's got it - Ganger lands in his opponent's guard.
Ganger trying to control but Krestner is working from the bottom.
Ganger is fighting to break Krestner's control of his arms but Krestner is doing a good job of controlling the position at the moment.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Ganger wants to control from the top but Krestner keeps moving.

Krestner looking to control the pace of the fight rather than finish it.
Krestner bucks up whilst keeping hold of a body lock, managing to reverse the position. Now he's in top in Ganger's guard.

Ganger avoiding any damage from the ground and pound.

There's not a lot going on here and the crowd are letting the fighters know they're not willing to tolerate a lack of action.

Well, the referee has seen enough. Neither fighter is active enough on the ground so he's stood them back up.
Krestner fails with an attempt to clinch.
Krestner closes this distance looking for a takedown but Ganger circles away.

Ganger shoots in and gets a takedown into half guard. Ganger showed some decent athleticism there.

Ganger wants to pass to mount but Krestner is defending the position.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

Ganger escapes and gets back to his feet.

Krestner looking to shoot here. He's gone for it and he's landed a takedown into mount! Oh, that's bad for Ganger!
Ganger is in a horrible position here. Krestner smacks him with another shot as he tries to escape the position.
Krestner landing strikes from the mount and Ganger is in trouble!
Ganger is looking to get to half guard.
Ganger is writhing around trying to get back to his feet.
The crowd growing excited in anticipation of a finish here! Right on cue, Krestner cracks his opponent with a massive right hand that draws loud cheers!

Ganger tries to hold on but Krestner postures up.
Ganger takes a big shot to the head but keeps on trying to improve his position.
This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!
Ganger keeping his composure momentarily, calmly looking to get back to half guard.
You get the feeling that Ganger really doesn't like being in this position too much.

The crowd applaud the fighters efforts here as the round comes to an end.
Ganger sneaks a leg under to get to half guard.
Ganger wants to get back to full guard.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Shane Krestner dominated that round.
That's time! Ganger's corner gives him a slap on the ass as he gets ready to fight.


Krestner fakes high and swings low for a body shot but Ganger manages to avoid it.
The fight stays on the outside here - Krestner looks like he's thinking about clinching though.
Ganger tries for a takedown but Krestner circles away easily
and Krestner counters with a crisp hook to the side of the head.
Ganger closes the distance but Krestner moves to the side
and Krestner counters with a quick right hand to the jaw.
Krestner throws a wild combination but nothing lands.

Ganger drives through with a takedown into guard.
Krestner doesn't do any damage with a couple of strikes from the bottom.
Krestner throws some sloppy strikes off his back.
Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here.
Krestner not looking particularly offensive just at the moment.
Krestner lands a beautiful switch and he's in full mount! That could spell trouble for Ganger!

Ganger is trying desperately to improve position.
Ganger is bucking up trying to escape but Krestner cracks him with another couple of good strikes.
Ganger on his back here. We all know that wrestlers don't like being on their back so let's see if Ganger tries to get out of the position.

The referee warns Ganger that he has to improve his position here as he takes two more clean shots to the head.

Krestner goes for an armbar but he's fallen flat on his backside there and now Ganger is on top in guard.

Krestner doesn't do any damage with a couple of strikes from the bottom.

Krestner has his foot on Ganger's thigh. He's trying to push off and get in position for a triangle, I think. Ganger works his way back into a safe position though.

Ganger looks up at the clock and then as Krestner takes his cue and looks up at the clock too, Ganger smacks him right in the chops with a big elbow! How rude!

Ganger thinks about going for a far side armbar but bails out and retains the dominant position instead.
Krestner manages to work his way to half guard, despite Ganger's best efforts.

Krestner lands one or two decent shots to the body here. Although from his own half guard, he's not going to be causing too much damage.

The crowd are showing their displeasure at the lack of action as loud boos ring out around the arena.
Krestner is trying to maintain the position but Ganger is very close to passing his half guard.

Neither fighter is doing enough for the referee's liking and he's decided to stand them back up.
Ganger avoids the clinch attempt nicely.

Ganger fakes an overhand right and shoots for a takedown. Krestner sprawls well initially but Ganger persists and gets the takedown into half guard.
The fighters are battling for position here. Krestner manages to regain full guard. Nice work.
Gangeris looking to pass into half guard but Krestner pushes him away with his feet and jumps on top - now Krestner is in guard.

Shane Krestner showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards.
OK. That's time! The bell goes and we're back to the action. So, we enter the final round. Let's see if either fighter can bring us a finish, or whether we're going to the judges scorecards.



Krestner moves into the clinch successfully.
Ganger jumps guard but Krestner stands there with Ganger around his waist. Ganger gives up and drops back to his feet. We remain in the clinch.
Krestner gets underhooks to prevent Ganger's takedown attempt.

Krestner breaks the clinch and we return to the middle of the mat.
Ganger tries to grapple but his opponent circles

and Krestner counters with a nice double leg into guard.
Shane Krestner has got the better of the ground game so far.
Krestner prevents Ganger from getting back to his feet.
Ganger is looking to sweep but instead, Krestner has passed into half guard.
Krestner lands with a punch from half guard.
Both fighters are breathing heavily.

That's one minute gone in the round.
Krestner takes advantage of the dominant position to land a couple of big hammer fists.
Krestner drops an elbow to the side of Ganger's head.
Krestner content to control rather than advance.
Krestner lands with an elbow from half guard - that looked like it hurt.

Krestner is working for a kimura but Ganger is defending it quite comfortably.

Ganger is trying to escape back to his feet but Krestner uses the scramble to pass into side control.

Krestner thinks about going for a far side armbar but bails out and retains the dominant position instead.
Ganger is not in a great position here, taking some shots.
Ganger is moving his hips around well on the bottom and has managed to get back to half guard.
Krestner winds up and cracks Ganger with a swinging punch to the side of the head.

Ganger is looking to control Krestner's leg but it's slowly edging free. Can Ganger avoid being mounted?
Krestner misses with a head shot. Ganger uses the momentum to regain guard.

Ganger kicks Krestner off and gets to his feet.

Krestner working in close now, lands a nice elbow to the side of Ganger's head.

Krestner trying to control the position from guard on top but Ganger is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can.
Krestner is intent on slowing down the pace of the fight, simply looking to control.
Ganger wants to stand and escape but Krestner is having none of it.
Ganger controls Krestner momentarily but Krestner frees himself.
Krestner wants to control from the top but Ganger keeps moving.

Shane Krestner comfortably won the final round on my scorecard.
Well Krestner has outworked and out performed his opponent in all aspects of the game today. He was simply too good and the decision should be no more than a formality. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
