And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.

The judges for this bout are Sosuke Kotani, Shigeki Sano and Yukihiro Yamamoto.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Nakamura closes the distance and pushes Gardner back into the cage.
Nakamura avoiding damage as Gardner throws knees to the body.
Gardner breaks the clinch and we return to the middle of the mat.
Nakamura looking for a takedown here - he's got it.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

Gardner can't keep his opponent in guard - Nakamura advances to half guard, no doubt looking to mount.

We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Gardner tries to get to full guard but Nakamura has control of the leg.
That's one minute gone in the round.
Nakamura takes a deep breath and rests his weight momentarily on top of his opponent, to control the position.
Gardner is positioning himself well to prevent Nakamura advancing to mount.
Nakamura is looking for a kimura but Gardner is holding onto that half guard position, so it's hard for Nakamura to get the leverage.

Nakamura seems very keen to just sit and control from half guard but Gardner does not like that idea so much and is remaining active off his back.

My god... these two guys really need to pick up the pace or everyone will leave to go get a beer.
Gardner is in trouble now - Nakamura has advanced to mount!
Nakamura can't quite control the action as he would like just now, as Gardner is looking to escape.
Gardner is trying desperately to improve position.
Nakamura working to secure an arm triangle but it's not happening for him just yet.
Nakamura is in full mount, looking to secure a guillotine but Gardner is surviving well by controlling Nakamura's body position as best he can.
Gardner really does look like a pencil wearing a pair of gloves. Let's hope he has a gameplan to suit that ridiculous body shape.
Nakamura tries to control but Gardner wriggling away.
That's three minutes gone in the round.
Nakamura quickly switches position and commits to an armbar! It's a big risk for Nakamura but it's paid off an Gardner is forced to tap! Nice work by Nakamura.
