Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
3 - 0 - 0, fighting out of St Petersburg, Kevin McAdams! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
0 - 1 - 0, fighting out of St Petersburg, Kazbek Lermantov! The judges for this bout are Aleksandr Martynov, Ivan Kurochkin and Viktor Lagutenko.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Lermantov misses with a takedown attempt - McAdams sprawls well and throws a nice strike on the way out which just misses. McAdams scores a trip takedown into side control. Nice. We could do with one of the fighters taking the initiative a bit more on the ground - they're both waiting to capitalize on a mistake. Lermantov is looking for a sweep. Lermantov is moving his hips around well on the bottom and has managed to get back to half guard. The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work. Lermantov actively working from the bottom here. Lermantov works his way to full guard. Good work. We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. Lermantov tries to land a sweep but no joy. Lermantov is trying to control the position from the bottom.
McAdams got a little sloppy there for a moment and Lermantov has worked his way into a loose triangle - can he finish it?! No, McAdams has managed to get both his arms back between Lermantov's legs - danger averted.
That's one minute gone in the round. McAdams controlling from the guard. I say controlling but really, he's stalling. McAdams preventing the sweep. McAdams showing good wrestling skills to control the position. Lermantov is working actively off his back, looking to secure an arm or perhaps work for a triangle.
That's two minutes gone in the round. My god... these two guys really need to pick up the pace or everyone will leave to go get a beer. Lermantov can't do much from the bottom at the moment, as McAdams controls the pace. Lermantov is trying to control the position from the bottom.
The referee has stepped in and called for a break in the action. We'll restart on the feet. McAdams looking for a takedown here - he's got it. Lermantov escapes his hips to the side and looks to be working for an armbar. McAdams gives him a little smile and shakes his head. No chance. Lermantov looks winded! McAdams slows down the pace of the fight, as he sits in guard.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Lermantov is working actively off his back, looking to secure an arm or perhaps work for a triangle. Lermantov working a defensive guard here.
McAdams content to stall in guard here. Lermantov is looking for a guillotine. You can't force these things though and McAdams defends well.

The referee decides to stand the fighters back up. McAdams shoots in for a takedown. "Ole!" shouts Lermantov as he jumps to the side. Boooooooooooooooooooo!!! God, this has been a terrible round. Come on you two, sort yourselves out! McAdams closes the distance and looks for a trip takedown... aaaand he's got it - McAdams lands in his opponent's guard. And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

McAdams changes levels and drives through with a really nice takedown into side control. Lermantov looks really pissed at himself for not defending that better. McAdams stands up and we're back to a striking position. McAdams is really dominating this fight. Is there anything that Lermantov can do to turn this around? Lermantov gets the takedown into side control. McAdams sneaks out the side door and pushes Lermantov away - he's back to his feet. The crowd show their appreciation for the escape. The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so! A telegraphed takedown attempt from Lermantov is defended easily by McAdams. McAdams feinted with a counter takedown.
That's one minute gone in the round. Lermantov has a takedown stuffed. McAdams tries to counter with a takedown but Lermantov is quick to defend against it. McAdams fails with a rather predictable takedown attempt. Lermantov shoots in for a takedown! He's got it and he's managed to land in side control! That's better than Lermantov was expecting from the takedown attempt, I'm sure! Lermantov tries to score with some ground and pound. McAdams controls his posture well this time though and the shots don't do any damage. Lermantov tries for an arm triangle. That looks pretty tight to me. Is this one over!?! Possibly, maybe, no Lermantov has let go of the choke. Obviously it wasn't as tight as we thought! Lermantov is breathing heavily. McAdams stuck in half guard on the bottom here.
That's two minutes gone in the round. McAdams continues to stall. McAdams can't do much from the bottom here. McAdams manages to get one leg in to regain half guard. Lermantov is looking for a kimura here.
Lermantov wants to work for an arm triangle but McAdams is really keeping half guard well and defending the submission attempt.
That's three minutes gone in the round. McAdams keeps control of the position for the meantime. McAdams keeping his head moving to avoid the ground and pound. Lermantov is looking for a kimura. It's going to be difficult to finish that from half guard though and McAdams defends it well. McAdams controlling the leg, holding on to half guard. McAdams manages to get to full guard.
McAdams has Lermantov pulled in close to control his posture.
That's four minutes gone in the round. A lull in the action here being met with boos from the crowd. Lermantov stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. McAdams swivels though and keeps the full guard. McAdams has his hands on Lermantov's head, controlling the position. Kevin McAdams overall seems to be getting the better of the ground position in the fight so far. Lermantov in full guard, throwing the ground and pound. No damage this time. McAdams looking for a sweep. Not yet McAdams, not yet. The crowd thankful this round is nearly over. Lermantov drops back, looking for a kneebar! McAdams looks panicked! The fighters roll across the mat, one looking to finish, one looking to escape. McAdams looks to have wriggled free... Yes, he's got his leg free and he's dived into side control! Good work there from McAdams! McAdams slows the pace down. And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.
Kevin McAdams dominated that second round. The corners get their ten second warning. Both fighters stand from their stools and stare eachother down, ready to get back to the action. This is the final round!
Horrible takedown attempt by McAdams or perhaps it was just good defense by Lermantov, which made it look bad. McAdams drives through with a takedown into Lermantov's guard. Let's see what he can do from the top position. Lermantov wants to sweep but no luck. Lermantov escapes his hips to the side and looks to be working for an armbar. McAdams is edging up against the cage. He's using the cage to get back to his feet. Nice work there - the fighters are clinched.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Lermantov is working on a leg, looking for a takedown but McAdams is defending well. McAdams is defending well against a takedown attempt. Lermantov is looking for a takedown up against the cage. McAdams gets underhooks though and prevents the takedown attempt. Kevin McAdams has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Kazbek Lermantov. McAdams is looking to take this one to the mat. McAdams jumps guard but his hands slip and he falls flat on his back. Well, he's made himself look a right mug there, as Lermantov walks away with a smile on his face. McAdams gets slowly back to his feet and shakes his head. Lermantov keeps the fight standing with a nice sprawl. Lermantov is definitely looking for the counter takedowns here.

Lermantov is working actively off his back, looking to secure an arm or perhaps work for a triangle. McAdams thinks about going for a leg but decides against it, in order to maintain the position. Kevin McAdams is fighting for a decision here - he's started to take the cautious approach. McAdams slows down the pace of the fight for a moment. He'll need to remain active if he doesn't want to see the fight stood back up. Boooooooooooooooooooo!!! God, this has been a terrible round. Come on you two, sort yourselves out! And that's the end of the fight! Kevin McAdams showed his dominance in that final round. Well I reckon that's a shut out for McAdams, winning every round. Will the judges agree? They are the ones who matter, even if they are often depressingly incompetent. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
