Coming up we have a light heavyweight MMA rules bout between Mister Grapple (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Ping Pong (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Ping Pong is staring across the ring at his opponent, tweaking his nipples.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Tokyo, Mister Grapple!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Tokyo, Ping Pong!
The judges for this bout are Yasuomi Hirokawa, Taro Takaoka and Yukihiro Shimada.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Pong misses with a half-hearted attempt at a head kick.

Grapple scores a trip takedown into side control. Nice.
Pong prevents Grapple from improving position.
Grapple in side control, throwing shots but Pong defends.
Grapple throwing strikes but Pong manages to buck up and roll into a nice reversal - now he's on top in side control!
Grapple is trying to work for a sweep but Pong has mounted him!
Pong tries to stand up but he's trapped just for the moment.
Grapple is looking to improve his position but Pong isn't that keen on the idea.
Grapple is breathing heavily.
Pong trying to control but he's not successful this time.

That's one minute gone in the round.
Grapple is trying to escape the mount.
Grapple tries to hold on but Pong pushes him away.
Grapple is in a bad position, trying to hold on for dear life but he is really struggling to maintain any sort of control.
Pong wants to stand but Grapple is holding on to him, trying to stop him posturing up.
Grapple is desperately trying to get back to half guard.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
The crowd are getting on the fighters' backs, as the pace has dropped off in the last minute or so.
Pong wants to control the pace but Grapple is squirming around nicely.
Grapple is wriggling around trying to escape.

That's three minutes gone in the round.
Grapple tries to lock up and control but Pong gives him a forearm to the face and pushes him away.
Grapple can't escape the position.
The fighters are trapped in the ropes so we're going to have a reposition here. The ref calls for a break and repositions the fighters in the center of the ring.
Grapple flailing away with punches but nothing is landing.
Grapple is working to get back to half guard.
Grapple wants to control but Pong is having none of it.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
Neither fighter has done anything of merit for a good minute or two here and the crowd are not happy about it.
Grapple is looking to get to half guard.
Pong wants to get back to his feet but Grapple is holding on tight.
Grapple throwing hammer fists to the chest of Pong. What's that going to do exactly?
Boooooooooooooooooooo!!! God, this has been a terrible round. Come on you two, sort yourselves out!
Grapple is working to get back to half guard.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Mister Grapple dominated that round.
The corners get their ten second warning. Both fighters stand from their stools and stare eachother down, ready to get back to the action.


Grapple blocks a head kick by Pong.
Pong throws a head kick that connects with a bit of head and a bit of hand.
Pong throws a head kick but Grapple moves out of range.
Grapple shoots in for a takedown but Pong shows good takedown defense.
Pong misses with a half-hearted attempt at a head kick.
Mister Grapple is looking to throw some combinations by the looks of things.

Grapple changes levels and drives through with a really nice takedown into side control. Pong looks really pissed at himself for not defending that better.
Grapple with the ground and pound but Pong regains half guard under the barage of strikes.
Grapple throws a strike but Pong avoids it easily and moves to full guard.
Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here.

That's one minute gone in the round.
Grapple trying to control but Pong is working from the bottom.
Grapple is looking to work some ground and pound but Pong has wrist control.
Grapple trying to control the position from guard on top but Pong is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can.
Grapple looking to sit in guard and control but Pong gets the butterfly guard and sweeps. He's now in the guard on the top.
Grapple on his back here. We all know that wrestlers don't like being on their back so let's see if Grapple tries to get out of the position.

Well. There's a bit of a lull in the action here and the crowd are starting to get restless.
Grapple has a closed guard, preventing anything of note from happening. Perhaps he's looking to stall.
Pong is looking to stand up but Grapple won't let him.
Grapple is working from a closed guard but he's struggling to control his opponent.

That's three minutes gone in the round.

Well, the referee has seen enough. Neither fighter is active enough on the ground so he's stood them back up.
Grapple fails miserably with a takedown attempt.
Grapple shoots in for a takedown but doesn't get it.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Mister Grapple. That's going to take a lot out of him.
Grapple on the wrong end of a decent looking cross there.
Grapple shoots in for a takedown. "I don't think so" says Pong as he avoids it easily.
Pong lands a jab to the head.

Grapple scores a takedown into full mount!
Grapple pausing momentarily but resumes with a couple of decent strikes that do a bit of damage.
The fighters are tangled up in the ropes here. We might need a restart if the fighters can't break free themselves.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
A nice elbow there by Grapple.
Grapple controlling the position easily from mount.
Grapple is landing with some decent strikes but Pong is trying to advance his position so the referee is letting the fight continue.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

That was a close second round but I would say that Mister Grapple will probably get the nod.
The fighters' corners scream their final instructions, as the referee calls time. Here we go, back to the action! So, we enter the final round. Let's see if either fighter can bring us a finish, or whether we're going to the judges scorecards.


Grapple blocks a head kick by Pong.
Grapple uses good footwork to avoid the strikes from Pong.

Grapple feints and then dives in with a takedown. That was a long way out but the feint bought him enough time to close the distance and complete the takedown. Now we'll play guard for a bit and see who can get the better of that position.
Grapple wants to control from the top but Pong keeps moving.
Grapple prevents Pong from getting back to his feet.
Both fighters are breathing heavily.
Grapple trying to pass the guard but can't manage it just yet.

Grapple trying to control but Pong is working from the bottom.
Grapple wants to pass the guard but Pong is keeping the position.
Grapple postures up and lands some nice ground and pound.
Grapple controlling from the top position.

It looks like we're going to have a standup here. Neither fighter is doing enough on the ground.
Grapple avoids the head kick by Pong.
Ping Pong has stepped it up - he knows he needs a finish here!

That's two minutes gone in the round.
A few boos can be heard. I'm sure they will multiply if the fighters don't pick up the pace.

Grapple scores with a takedown into Pong's guard.
Grapple connects with a couple of short punches.
Grapple working from the guard for now, landing some ground and pound.
Grapple thows a big elbow that misses.
Grapple trying to control but Pong is working from the bottom.
Pong working the defensive guard well to avoid strikes from Grapple.

That's three minutes gone in the round.
Grapple throwing strikes from guard but Pong blocks nicely.
Grapple working some ground and pound from guard but it's not doing any damage.
Grapple connects with a couple of short punches.
Grapple stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Pong swivels though and keeps the full guard.

Well, the referee has seen enough. Neither fighter is active enough on the ground so he's stood them back up.
The crowd cheers as Pong lands an impressive looking overhand right. Grapple doesn't seem phased though.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
There's not a lot going on here and the crowd are letting the fighters know they're not willing to tolerate a lack of action.
Pong tries a switch kick but it misses it's target.
Pong throws a sloppy head kick and Grapple moves out of range easily.
Mister Grapple is fighting for a decision here - he's started to take the cautious approach.
Pong throws a head kick that misses.
Pong tries to land with a swinging hook to the body but Grapple was well out of range. Poor timing from Pong.

Grapple looks for a takedown. He's got it. We're now in half guard.
Grapple blocks the strikes from Pong.
The crowd thankful this round is nearly over.
Neither fighter is being very active at the moment, with Grapple in particular looking to stall.

And that's the end of the fight!
Mister Grapple showed his dominance in that final round.
Well I reckon that's a shut out for Grapple, winning every round. Will the judges agree? They are the ones who matter, even if they are often depressingly incompetent. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.

Ladies and gentlemen, after 3 rounds of action, we go to the scorecards for a decision.
