The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work. Pierce is striking from the bottom but Saaim uses the opportunity to pass into half guard. We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. Saaim sitting in half guard, looking to land shots. Pierce defending well though. Neither fighter is being very active at the moment, with Saaim in particular looking to stall. The two fighters exchange a few words. I couldn't hear what they were saying but maybe it's more fun if you make it up yourself. Saaim connects with a nice short shot to Pierce's temple.
That's one minute gone in the round. Saaim looks over to his corner - he wants some instructions but his corner are not responding. It looks like Saaim might be adopting somewhat of a lay and pray gameplan here, which I'm sure won't go down too well with the paying fans in attendance... Or the ring announcers come to think of it. The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing. Let's hope that Saaim has the urge to step up the pace any second now because for the last 15 or 20 seconds he's just been holding on tight.
That's two minutes gone in the round. There's not a lot going on here and the crowd are letting the fighters know they're not willing to tolerate a lack of action. Saaim in half guard on the top. He's looking for a kimura... He's got it locked and he's managed to free his trapped foot. Pierce tries to escape but it's on too tight and he has to tap! Great BJJ skills there from Saaim!
