Coming up we have a featherweight MMA rules bout between Williams Harper (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Rudi Careca (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Rudi Careca has the power to score a knockout today if he connects clean with Williams Harper's chin.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the featherweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
1 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, Williams Harper! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
2 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, Rudi Careca! The judges for this bout are Emerson Jorge, Thiago Cunha and Seu Braga.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Careca circles away from the clinch attempt.
Careca with the counter takedown but Harper avoids it easily. Harper looking for a takedown here - he's got it. Careca is looking to get back to his feet but can't, whilst Harper is controlling him. Harper working some strikes from top position. Harper missing there with some ground and pound from the guard. Harper postures up.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. Careca isolates an arm and boxes in a triangle. Harper stacks Careca on his neck as he steps over and passes to the side. He's now in a much more dominant position where he can look to do some serious damage. Nice move by Harper! Harper tries for a kimura but Careca is defending well.
That's one minute gone in the round. You can see the frustration on Careca's face, being in this tough position on the bottom. Harper really does look like a pencil wearing a pair of gloves. Let's hope he has a gameplan to suit that ridiculous body shape. Careca looking for a sweep but Harper has passed into full mount! Oh no! Harper is in full mount, looking to secure a guillotine but Careca is surviving well by controlling Harper's body position as best he can. Careca working to try and regain half guard.

That's two minutes gone in the round. Careca is trying to defend against the ground and pound but Harper scores with a couple of nice shots. Harper scores with a couple of good hammerfists. Harper working over Careca with some ground and pound. Careca looks like he wants out of this position, which is understandable. Harper is trying for a guillotine from the top but the pressure isn't in the right place so Careca is just riding it out for now. Harper eventually gives up the hold. Harper wants to work for an arm triangle but Careca is really keeping half guard well and defending the submission attempt.
Harper takes advantage of the dominant position to land a couple of big hammer fists.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Careca is looking for a sweep. Harper is wise to his cunning plan and keeps the top position. Harper is looking for an arm triangle, whilst trying to pass to side control. Careca doesn't seem that keen to cooperate though. No luck this time Harper. Harper is looking for a kimura but Careca is holding onto that half guard position, so it's hard for Harper to get the leverage. Harper is keeping good posture, landing some ground and pound. Harper is trying a forearm choke… I don't think that's going to do much at this level of the game.
Careca wants to get back to full guard. Harper knows he needs to get back to his feet asap. He's simply no match for Careca on the ground.
That's four minutes gone in the round. My god... these two guys really need to pick up the pace or everyone will leave to go get a beer. Careca makes his way to full guard. A much better position for Careca. Harper has to be careful here, sitting in the guard of a superior BJJ player. Harper lands a couple of digs. Boooooooooooooooooooo!!! God, this has been a terrible round. Come on you two, sort yourselves out! Careca is throwing his legs up, looking for submissions. Harper is aware though and is defending well. Harper postures up and lands some nice ground and pound. And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Harper sizes up Careca with a pawing jab and scores with a straight right down the middle. Harper fakes high and shoots in for a takedown but Careca avoids it really well and circles away. Harper lands a nice shot that snaps Careca's head back.

That's one minute gone in the round. Careca has hold of one of Harper's legs. Harper is fighting the takedown attempt but Careca gets the trip and lands the takedown into guard. Careca is breathing heavily. Harper wants to get back to his feet but he's too absorbed in his own little project and Careca manages to pass to side control. Harper tries to get to full guard but Careca has control of the leg. Harper is working hard here to advance position. The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing. Careca stops Harper from getting back to his feet.
Harper is looking to regain full guard. Not this time though.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Harper kicks Careca off and gets back to his feet. Harper is really dominating this fight. Is there anything that Careca can do to turn this around? Harper thuds his right hand into Careca's forehead from close range. That could be painful for both fighters. Harper is looking to clinch but Careca is avoiding it.
And an attempted straight right on the counter from Careca! But no joy. Careca throws a loose over hand right and dives in with a double leg takedown. Harper tries to sprawl but it's too late and the fighters hit the mat. Careca is in Harper's guard. This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff! Harper pushes Careca off and scrambles back to his feet.
Harper is using his reach advantage well here, landing the more effective single shots from range. Harper wants to clinch.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Harper drives through with a takedown into Careca's guard. Let's see what he can do from the top position. Careca working for a triangle but Harper defends it easily.
Harper is in close to Careca's body, working some short punches and elbows.
That's four minutes gone in the round. Careca is throwing his legs up, looking for submissions. Harper is aware though and is defending well. Harper avoids a guillotine attempt easily.
Careca is striking off his back. Harper thinks nothing of it though and passes easily into half guard. Harper is looking for a kimura but he's never going to get it from there. The referee walks around the fighters to get a better view of the action. Harper lands a nice short elbow. The crowd thankful this round is nearly over. Harper scores with a couple of good hammerfists. And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.
Williams Harper dominated that second round. The fighters' corners scream their final instructions, as the referee calls time. Here we go, back to the action! And we move into the final round!
Careca tries to keep at a distance but Harper has taken the fight into the clinch. Careca successfully pulls guard.
Careca has a loose triangle. He'll be looking to tighten that up but Harper can see exactly what he's planning and manages to posture up and free himself. Harper scoring with some ground and pound. The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work. Careca takes a big intake of breath there - he's definitely tired. Harper working from the guard for now, landing some ground and pound. Harper postures up.
That's one minute gone in the round. Careca is working an open guard so Harper takes the opportunity to get back to his feet. Williams Harper seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout. Harper rushes Careca and pushes him back against the cage in a clinch. Careca has double underhooks and is working for a body lock takedown. He's got it. The fighters land in half guard but Harper regains guard immediately. Harper bucks up whilst keeping hold of a body lock, managing to reverse the position. Now he's in top in Careca's guard. Harper landing some decent shots from guard. Harper scoring with punches to the head and body. Careca trying to strike off his back.
Harper makes a bit of distance and scores with some ground and pound, still in guard.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Harper keeps in close for a moment and lands a decent shot to the side of Careca's head. Harper content to strike from guard, landing some decent shots. Careca has momentary wrist control but Harper slips an elbow through the middle. Harper tries to stand but Careca is controlling from the bottom. Harper will need to keep those long limbs tucked in whilst he's on the ground, to prevent any submissions. Harper landing some decent shots from guard. Harper landing with the ground and pound.

That's four minutes gone in the round. Harper is looking for a kimura. It's going to be difficult to finish that from half guard though and Careca defends it well. Careca tries to roll over but Harper keeps him under control. Harper is sneakily working for an arm triangle but Careca sees it coming and defends easily. Harper is scoring with some nice ground and pound from the dominant position. Rudi Careca has stepped it up - he knows he needs a finish here! Williams Harper is fighting for a decision here - he's started to take the cautious approach. Boooooooooooooooooooo!!! God, this has been a terrible round. Come on you two, sort yourselves out! Harper prevents Careca from improving his position.
And that's the end of the fight! Williams Harper showed his dominance in that final round. Well Harper has outscored his opponent in every aspect of the fight today. Only a scarily incompetent judge or two will keep him from a well deserved win... Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
