The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Smith scores with a jab to the jaw.
Smith comes forward and lands a shot to the body, then darts back out of range.
Smith throws a nice looking combination but Hennessy bobs and weaves to avoid any damage.
Hennessy wants to clinch up but Smith keeps it at a distance.
Smith looks to have improved his striking defense since last time we saw him fight.
Smith cracks Hennessy with a nice right hand that draws applause from the crowd.
Hennessy tries to close the distance and clinch up against the cage but Smith paws at him with a jab and circles away.
Smith throws out a token jab with nothing on it.
Hennessy changes levels for a counter takedown but doesn't follow through with his attempt.
Smith connects nicely with a jab. Noted by the judges no doubt.
Smith throws an overhand right that lands on Hennessy's shoulder, as Hennessy tries to avoid the shot.
Smith lands a big head kick that sends Hennessy to the canvas! Smith follows up with strikes from the mount that forces the ref to step in and stop the fight!
Ladies and gentlemen, after 0:43 of round 1, we have a winner by way of TKO (Strikes). Rodney Smith!
Rodney Smith seemed lost for words in his post fight interview but he remembered to thank his fans and directed everyone to his website.
