Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 2 rounds, in the middleweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
17 - 12 - 0, fighting out of Sydney, Bob Fynn! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
10 - 8 - 1, fighting out of London, Jaun-Paul Fredrickson! The judges for this bout are Darius Henderson, Ben Hemmingworth and Eliza Hachem.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Fynn throws a left and a right that both miss
and Fredrickson counters with a takedown into side control! That could mean trouble for Fynn! Fredrickson tries for a kimura but Fynn is defending well. Fynn regains half guard there - taking advantage of Fredrickson's attempt to lay and pray for a moment. Fredrickson is looking for a kimura but Fynn is holding onto that half guard position, so it's hard for Fredrickson to get the leverage. Fredrickson working the head and body with strikes. Fredrickson is looking for a kimura here.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. Fynn won't allow Fredrickson to pass to mount.
That's one minute gone in the round. Fredrickson perhaps working for something from half guard, or maybe not. It looks like he's just sitting there. Fredrickson moves into full mount! Fynn won't be happy about that! Fynn working to try and regain half guard.
Fynn wants to try and get back to his feet. Fynn is squirming around, avoiding Fredrickson's attempts to control the action. Fynn is really trying hard to get back to his feet.
Fredrickson lands with some strikes. Fredrickson fails to take his opponent's back. Fredrickson is trying to control here but Fynn has managed to regain half guard.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Fredrickson trying to control from Fynn's half guard. Fynn has other ideas though and has regained full guard. Fredrickson pressing down on his opponent's thigh, looking to pass guard. Fynn is keeping the position for now. The fighters are trapped in the ropes so we're going to have a reposition here. The ref calls for a break and repositions the fighters in the center of the ring. Fynn keeping moving, preventing Fredrickson from controlling successfully. Fynn wants to stand and escape but Fredrickson is having none of it. Fredrickson pressing down on his opponent's thigh, looking to pass guard. Fynn is keeping the position for now. Fredrickson trying to control the position from guard on top but Fynn is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Fredrickson stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Fynn swivels though and keeps the full guard. Fredrickson trying to control but Fynn is working from the bottom. Fredrickson postures up as if he's going to throw some strikes but drops back for an ankle! Fynn is in big trouble! He looks ready to tap! But no, he's escaped and dives on top of Fredrickson, into his guard. Fynn wants to get up but he can't break Fredrickson's closed guard. He needs to be careful trying to break the legs open, as he's open to submissions here.
That's four minutes gone in the round. The crowd are starting to boo a lack of action. Fredrickson preventing the ground and pound from doing any damage. Fredrickson is looking for a guillotine. You can't force these things though and Fynn defends well. The fighters are tangled up in the ropes here. We might need a restart if the fighters can't break free themselves. Fynn wants to stand up, so he's looking to wriggle free of Fredrickson's closed guard. He's half up but Fredrickson has locked on to an arm! Uh oh! Fredrickson pivots and extends the arm, Fynn falls face first to the mat and taps??... does he?? YES! He's tapping! Excellent counter grappling there by Fredrickson! Well done that man!
