The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Alves misses with a takedown attempt - Daniels sprawls well and throws a nice strike on the way out which just misses.

Alves closes the distance and looks for a trip takedown... aaaand he's got it - Alves lands in his opponent's guard.
Daniels really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Alves. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out.
Daniels pulls Alves in close to his closed guard and prevents Alves from doing any damage or advancing position.
Alves will need to keep those long limbs tucked in whilst he's on the ground, to prevent any submissions.

Daniels had isolated an arm as going for an omaplata. Alves is defending the submission well but is in a very vulnerable position. Daniels Is leaning forward trying to finish the omaplata but decides to abandon it, and take Alves's back instead.

Daniels is persistently looking for the submission but Alves is defending it well.

Daniels looking to break Alves's wrist control so he can sink in the choke. Alves remaining controlled and patient though - he really has to keep calm otherwise Daniels will wrap this one up with the rear naked choke!

Daniels is looking to finish the fight by rear naked choke. Alves knows exactly what he's got planned though, so he's defending well. Maybe a few strikes would soften Alves for a finish.

Daniels has his opponent pinned against the cage, landing some nasty ground and pound that is really making a bit of a mess out of Alves's face.

Daniels working from mount. He moves in close and looks like he might be going for an arm triangle... He's hopped off to the side and he's transitioned into an Anaconda choke. Alves turning a nasty shade of purple. He's refusing to tap but he's gone! He's out! The ref rips Daniels off and cradles Alves's limp body as Daniels celebrates with his corner.
