Coming up we have a lightweight MMA rules bout between Ben Miller (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Stevie Ray (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Both fighters look fresh as a daisy as they make their way towards the ring.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the lightweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 5 - 3 - 0, fighting out of Los Angeles, Ben Miller!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 5 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Hilo, Stevie Ray!
The judges for this bout are Shigeki Sano, Yukihiro Shimada and Taro Takaoka.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Horrible takedown attempt by Miller or perhaps it was just good defense by Ray, which made it look bad.
And an attempted straight right on the counter from Ray! But no joy.
Ben Miller seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Ouch! a nice leg kick from Miller, right into the meat.
Miller gets his takedown attempt stuffed easily

and Ray moves into the clinch.

Ray lands a short shot on the inside that snaps the head of Miller backwards.

The fighters are tangled up in the ropes here. We might need a restart if the fighters can't break free themselves.

Miller has an omoplata and is looking to use it perhaps as a submission or perhaps to transition. Ray is in a bit of discomfort here, but he's managed to free himself and has dived into side control! That didn't work out too well for Miller.
Ray tries to get to his feet but he's trapped momentarily.
Miller manages to work his way to half guard, despite Ray's best efforts.

Ray wants to stand but Miller has hold of a leg and an arm, so he's trapped for now.
The fighters are trapped in the ropes so we're going to have a reposition here. The ref calls for a break and repositions the fighters in the center of the ring.

The crowd are getting on the fighters' backs, as the pace has dropped off in the last minute or so.

Miller sneaks a leg through and gets to half guard. That was like a knife through butter how easily he passed Ray's guard.

Miller is keen to just control but Ray is a slippery customer.
Miller is pressing down on Ray's thigh, looking to free his foot. Ray is holding on for now.
Miller misses with a head shot. Ray uses the momentum to regain guard.

That was a close round but I would say that Ben Miller will probably get the nod.
The minute break is over - no more time for sponges and pep talks - back to the action!

Miller misses with an elbow to the head.
Miller is throwing strikes from the back here. Oh that last one was to the back of the head. Miller gets a warning from the referee. He throws another strike to the back of the head straight away though and the referee has seen enough. He breaks up the two fighters and stands them back up. Miller gets a real talking to here and is lucky not to get a point deducted. Miller apologises and we restart here on the feet.
Ray steps to his left, right into the path of a big body kick from Miller. That one must have hurt.
Stevie Ray is looking to keep the fight on the feet at all costs.
Miller is looking to land body kicks.
Ray throws out a counter right but Miller avoids it with no problem.
Miller lands a straight punch to the body, keeping Ray at a distance.
Miller pivots, looking for a leg kick but Ray is out of range and Miller settles back down.

Miller tries to land with a swinging hook to the body but Ray was well out of range. Poor timing from Miller.

and Ray connects with a straight left hand counter down the middle.

Ray swings wildly with an uppercut but Miller uses good head movement to avoid it.

Ray lands a shoulder strike.
Ray lands a hook that snaps the head of Miller backwards.
Miller tries to work over Ray's body with a swooping hook but it only glances the target.
Ray throws a blind hook that connects with the side of Millers head.

Ray breaks from the clinch.
Miller lands a jab to Ray's midsection.
It really doesn't seem like the step up in weight is hurting Miller here at all. He's more than holding his own against the bigger man.

Ray steps in looking to clinch after the strikes miss from Miller.

and Ray cracks him with a counter punch right on the button.
Miller takes a swing at Ray's ribcage but misses.
Ray pushing out the jab but it's not landing.

Miller does a little shimmy and throws a leg kick. The leg kick missed by a considerable margin though, making him look a little bit silly for doing the shimmy.
Ray cracks Miller with a nice right hand that draws applause from the crowd.
This has been an exciting period of action!
Miller stuns Ray with a nice body shot, before stepping back out of range.
Miller lands with a kick to the temple. Ray shrugs as if to say "is that all you've got?"

OK. That's time! The bell goes and we're back to the action. This is the final round!

Miller tries to score with an inside leg kick but telegraphs it and Ray is able to avoid easily.

Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.

And that's the end of the fight!
That was a close round. You could make an argument for either fighter but I would give it to Ben Miller.
Well I reckon that's a shut out for Miller, winning every round. Will the judges agree? They are the ones who matter, even if they are often depressingly incompetent. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
