Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
33 - 20 - 1, fighting out of Amsterdam, Christopher Binse! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
27 - 18 - 2, fighting out of Las Vegas, Hamad Al Zahran! The judges for this bout are Alan Glass, Wesley Smith and Cecil Peabody.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! A telegraphed takedown attempt from Al Zahran is defended easily by Binse. Binse throwing a counter right hand but Al Zahran manages to avoid it. Al Zahran avoids a kick to the body.
Al Zahran is the aggressor but that punch slipped nicely by Binse. Al Zahran connects with a leg kick. He turned his hip over nicely there. Al Zahran with a lazy takedown attempt letting Binse counter with a right hand. Jab, cross, leg kick. Nice combination by Al Zahran!

Binse looks to have improved his striking defense since last time we saw him fight. Binse blocks a head kick by Al Zahran.

Al Zahran pushes forward with a 1-2 combination that forces Binse back to the cage. Al Zahran follows up with a solid lead hook to the liver. Binse shakes his hands off, looking to compose himself, but takes a jab to the jaw whilst he does it. Binse fails in his attempt to clinch. Binse feints and then cracks Al Zahran's leading leg with a nice low kick. He's obviously looking to slow Al Zahran down. Christopher Binse is looking to keep the fight on the feet at all costs. Al Zahran throws a hook to the body but it doesn't connect.
Al Zahran closes the distance and gets a double leg, slamming Binse to the mat! Binse manages to get full guard. Binse lands a beautiful sweep and he's now moved into his opponent's guard. A big thud reverberates around the arena there as Binse accidentally thumps the mat. Hopefully he's not broken his hand.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Al Zahran avoiding any damage from the ground and pound. Binse engaging in some classic timewasting tactics. Binse continues to stall. Al Zahran wants to sweep here but Binse controlling him for the moment.
That's four minutes gone in the round. The crowd are getting on the fighters' backs, as the pace has dropped off in the last minute or so. Binse looking to control the position here, rather than advance. Binse distracts Al Zahran with his right hand and drops a big elbow with his other arm. The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing. The fighters are going at a pretty good pace and they're both starting to sweat now. Binse throws a big right hand that misses. Binse in full guard, throwing the ground and pound. No damage this time. Binse controls from within his opponent's guard. And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.
That was a close round but I would say that Christopher Binse will probably get the nod. OK. That's time! The bell goes and we're back to the action.

Binse has not gone for a single takedown so far in this fight, which seems like a very strange tactic when you consider that he has the superior wrestling and BJJ. A looping hook to the body misses from Binse. Al Zahran does a little dance to reset his feet. Al Zahran throws a monster uppercut resembling something out of street fighter but it doesn't land. We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out! Binse scores with a jab to the jaw. It really doesn't seem like the step up in weight is hurting Binse here at all. He's more than holding his own against the bigger man. Binse misses with a body shot. Nice footwork from Al Zahran.

A real slowdown in the pace of the fight for a moment, as Binse holds on and takes a little breather. Al Zahran controls the pace of the fight for a moment. Binse wants to control from the top but Al Zahran keeps moving. Christopher Binse overall seems to be getting the better of the ground position in the fight so far. Binse postures up.
