Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the middleweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 2 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Sydney, Jacques Parks!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 1 - 2 - 0, fighting out of Sydney, Dave Turner!
The judges for this bout are John Mangel, Donatello Bradman and Ron Honeybunn.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
A telegraphed right hand from Parks misses the target.
Turner looks really tired already! That doesn't bode well for a good, competitive fight!

Parks rushes Turner and presses him up against the cage.
Turner throws a head punch that misses.

Parks decides to pull guard.
Parks has his hands on Turner's head, controlling the position.
Parks tries to strike from the bottom.
Parks doesn't do any damage with a couple of strikes from the bottom.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Turner won't allow Parks to sweep him here.

Parks has been looking to land a fair amount of strikes on the ground. He might be looking to soften his opponent up in order to work for a submission.

Parks pushes Turner off and scrambles back to his feet.

Turner blocks a head kick by Parks.
Turner tries to close the distance and clinch up against the cage but Parks paws at him with a jab and circles away.
Parks lands a lovely overhand right.

Parks closes the distance and clinches up, looking for a takedown. He shifts his weight and gets a nice trip into half guard.
Parks with a momentary lay and pray from half guard.
Parks looks towards his corner to check for any instructions. The corner give him nothing to work with, so he cracks Turner with a short hammerfist. I guess that's as good as any advice he could get in this position.

Parks seems to have a rather negative gameplan on the ground. He seems keen to just score the takedown and hold down Turner for as long as he can get away with.

The referee has motioned to the fighters to stand back up. He just wasn't happy with the level of activity.

There's not a lot going on here and the crowd are letting the fighters know they're not willing to tolerate a lack of action.
Turner fails to pull the fight into his guard.

The fighters are starting to perspire pretty heavily.
Parks throws a couple of shots from the bottom but they don't land.

We've been informed that Turner has been working hard on his conditioning in the buildup to the fight.

Parks shoots in from a long way out. He's driving through with the takedown attempt and he eventually gets it, landing in Turner's guard.

The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

The crowd are showing their displeasure at the lack of action as loud boos ring out around the arena.

The ref stands the fighters back up due to a lack of activity.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

That's the end of the interval. I'm sure that seemed a lot quicker than a minute for our two fighters! Back to the action. Let's hear some noise people - this is the final round!


Parks cracks Turner with a nice right hand that draws applause from the crowd.
Turner takes a jab right on the nose. That must have hurt but he shrugs his shoulders and looks to return the favor.

Parks moves into the clinch.
Parks wants a takedown but no success here.
Parks is trying to pull guard but Turner turns him against the cage and we stay in the clinch.
Turner is a painfully thin specimen of a man. You do wonder whether a good body kick would snap him clean in two.
Parks has a body lock and is looking for a takedown. Turner is bouncing around trying to prevent the takedown and somehow he has indeed managed to stay on his feet.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Jacques Parks. That's going to take a lot out of him.
Parks wants to break the clinch but can't.
Parks is trying to force a seperation but Turner has the dominant position.
Turner wants to stall.
Turner takes a big intake of breath there - he's definitely tired.

Parks has managed to pull guard. Let's see whether he can work an aggressive guard. It will also be interesting to see what tactics Turner uses from the top position.

Well. There's a bit of a lull in the action here and the crowd are starting to get restless.
Parks has controlled the position for a good 20 seconds, which will no doubt be starting to frustrate his opponent.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
