Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between Sam Thomas (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Aaron Grimes (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Aaron Grimes will no doubt be trying to keep this one on the feet, where he has a distinct advantage.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 1 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Sam Thomas!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 1 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Aaron Grimes!
The judges for this bout are Dillan Fox, Alec Ball and Robert Douchet.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Grimes is looking to clinch but Thomas is avoiding it.
Grimes pulls out of a head kick attempt.
Thomas shoots in for a takedown but Grimes shows good takedown defense.
A decent looking body kick lands there for Grimes.
Grimes throws a body kick that sends a sickening thudding noise reverberating around the arena.
Grimes fakes a jab and then connects with a hook.
Thomas lands with a thumping leg kick.

Thomas clinches up against the cage.
Thomas blocks a couple of punches on the inside.
Thomas blocks a punch to the side of the head.
Grimes struggles to land a body shot inside as Thomas controls his hands.
Grimes is working hard here but doesn't seem to be able to control effectively, up against the cage.
Thomas fails to pull guard.
Grimes tries to score a body lock takedown but Thomas shows good agility there to stay on his feet.

That's one minute gone in the round.
Thomas wants a takedown but no success here.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Sam Thomas. That's going to take a lot out of him.
Grimes digs a right hand underneath Thomas's ribcage. Thomas let out a lung full of air as it connected.
Grimes drops down for a takedown but doesn't get it.
Thomas has had enough of the clinch and is looking to separate.
Thomas jumps guard but Grimes stands there with Thomas around his waist. Thomas gives up and drops back to his feet. We remain in the clinch.
Grimes tries to throw a body punch but Thomas avoids it by throwing Grimes back against the cage.
Grimes swings wildly with an uppercut but Thomas uses good head movement to avoid it.

Thomas has managed to pull guard. Let's see whether he can work an aggressive guard. It will also be interesting to see what tactics Grimes uses from the top position.
Thomas manages to sweep nicely, so he's now on top. Grimes manages to get himself to full guard.

Thomas stands and throws Grimes's legs to the side, diving into side control.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

That's two minutes gone in the round.

Thomas looking for an arm triangle but it's way too loose to do anything.
Grimes really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Thomas. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out.
Thomas is chipping away with strikes.

Thomas in side control, working for a kimura. He's got hold of an arm and he's torquing it... Grimes is tapping! That's the end of the fight!
