Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the heavyweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
4 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Willis Doolittle! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
2 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Jim Lahey! The judges for this bout are Gwen Towbar, Frank Dennis and Daniel Franklin.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! A combination from Doolittle does no damage. And an attempted straight right on the counter from Lahey! But no joy. Doolittle misses with a wild combination.
Doolittle tries to score with a low kick but Lahey moves his leg out of the way. And an attempted straight right on the counter from Lahey! But no joy. Doolittle tries to keep at a distance but Lahey has taken the fight into the clinch. Lahey tries a knee to the head but Doolittle blocks it.
Doolittle blocks a knee to the body. He'll have a nicely bruised forearm in the morning. Lahey has a couple of punches blocked by Doolittle.
Doolittle blocks a body shot from Lahey. Doolittle is trying to push Lahey away but Lahey has him pressed against the cage, so he's going nowhere. Lahey is struggling to control the position. With the fighters clinched against the cage, Lahey creates a bit of distance for himself and scores with a nice uppercut. We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. Lahey comes over the top with an elbow. That landed flush.
It looks like Willis Doolittle has been cut. Doolittle blocks the elbow strike.
A frustrated look appears on Doolittle's face as he tries to break the clinch. Lahey is trying to stall.
A nice right hand lands inside from Doolittle.
That's one minute gone in the round. Doolittle wants to get back to striking at distance but Lahey won't allow it.
Lahey lands a knee to the body.
Doolittle has had enough of the clinch but Lahey keeps him there for the moment. Lahey has Doolittle pressed against the cage, preventing Doolittle from circling away and getting back to striking at range. Doolittle has had enough of the clinch and is looking to separate. Doolittle's corner calls for him to break the clinch, which he does. Some wild striking there from Doolittle.
Doolittle misses with a combination
and Lahey counters with a body kick that stops Doolittle in his tracks momentarily. Doolittle is breathing heavily. Lahey tries to clinch but is not successful on this occasion. Doolittle appears to be looking for a big counter. Doolittle takes an uppercut right on the jaw but it doesn't phase him. Doolittle throws a leg kick that is checked and Lahey counters with a huge uppercut, hook combination that drops Doolittle! The ref has seen enough - he's dived in to stop the fight! Brutal strikes by Lahey!
Ladies and gentlemen, after 1:52 of round 1, we have a winner by way of TKO (Strikes). Jim Lahey!
