Coming up we have a featherweight MMA rules bout between Markus Woodsmall (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Rollo Gracie (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Gracie has chosen Jiu Jitsu: Apaga Mas Não Bate as his entrance music. Both these guys have really solid chins. Will we see a standup war or will they both decide that a knockout is unlikely and try to win the fight elsewhere?

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 5 rounds, for the featherweight championship of the world! Introducing the champion to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
8 - 3 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Markus Woodsmall! And introducing the challenger to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
9 - 1 - 1, fighting out of St Petersburg, Rollo Gracie! The judges for this bout are Andrew Berry, Steven Brown and James Atkins.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Gracie avoids a lazy jab quite easily. Woodsmall misses with a straight right. Woodsmall stalks Gracie and leaps in with a furious combination of punches. Uppercuts and crosses smash into Gracie's face. Gracie staggers backwards, shaken. The fight moves into the clinch position. Woodsmall lands a shot to the body. Gracie tries to pull guard but can't drag his opponent to the mat. Woodsmall just stands there and leans against the cage. Woodsmall struggles to land a body shot inside as Gracie controls his hands.
Gracie throws a head punch that misses. A short right from Woodsmall on the inside. Woodsmall lands with a short punch from the clinch.
Gracie goes for a body shot but it's blocked.
A body shot lands from Gracie.
A short body shot lands from Woodsmall as the two fighters clinch.
Gracie will no doubt start fighting again in a minute but for now he's just having a little rest, leaning Woodsmall up against the cage. Gracie is stalling here. The referee will be looking to step in if he doesn't pick up the pace. Gracie is clearly stalling here... Pick up the pace son.
That's one minute gone in the round. A head punch on the inside from Woodsmall fails to land. Gracie manages to break the clinch.
Woodsmall misses with a combination
and Gracie counters with a shoot takedown into half guard. Woodsmall is looking to escape. Woodsmall's coaches at Restricted area have been working on his defensive grappling in preparation for this fight so let's see if he can get out of this tricky position. Woodsmall is not content to let Gracie control the position. Gracie is looking to advance position but Woodsmall won't allow it. Gracie thows a wild elbow that connects with the canvas. Gracie is figuring out what he wants to do next. The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work. Woodsmall is looking to escape.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Gracie is looking to take a break and control but Woodsmall is keeping him honest, looking to work from the bottom. Woodsmall looks like he's trying to stand up.
We may be looking at a referee standup if the pace doesn't pick up soon. Woodsmall won't allow Gracie to pass to mount. Gracie is looking for an arm triangle, whilst trying to pass to side control. Woodsmall doesn't seem that keen to cooperate though. No luck this time Gracie. Gracie is controlling the pace.
Gracie is keen to just control but Woodsmall is a slippery customer.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Woodsmall wants to get back to his feet.
Woodsmall on his back here. We all know that wrestlers don't like being on their back so let's see if Woodsmall tries to get out of the position.
The ref stands the fighters back up due to a lack of activity. Gracie takes one to the chin there. Woodsmall blocks a head kick by Gracie.

Woodsmall throws a body punch but Gracie moves out of range. Gracie swats away the attempt to clinch by Woodsmall.
That's four minutes gone in the round. Woodsmall tries to clinch up against the cage, rushing in to close the distance. Gracie manages to break the clinch and circles back to the middle of the mat. Woodsmall is looking to clinch but Gracie is avoiding it.
No joy there for Woodsmall, who threw a few shots but didn't land.
Gracie throws a series of punches but Woodsmall avoids them all with ease. Markus Woodsmall is looking to keep the fight on the feet at all costs. Woodsmall closes the distance and clinches. A short right from Woodsmall on the inside. Gracie lands an elbow inside that Woodsmall shrugs off. The referee calls for Gracie to work.

Gracie stays in close to his opponent and throws a right hand to the body. Gracie jumps guard but his hands slip and he falls flat on his back. Well, he's made himself look a right mug there, as Woodsmall walks away with a smile on his face. Gracie gets slowly back to his feet and shakes his head. We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out! Gracie has closed the distance and engaged Woodsmall in a clinch.

Markus Woodsmall has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Rollo Gracie. Gracie slips a jab from Woodsmall. And Gracie tries to counter it with a takedown but Woodsmall pushes his down on his head and steps out. Gracie on the wrong end of a vicious looking body shot. And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.
That was a close round but I would say that Markus Woodsmall will probably get the nod. That's time! Back to the action!
Gracie avoids the clinch attempt nicely.
Woodsmall ducks down and throws a hook to the body but Gracie moves away. Woodsmall fails to land with the punch combination there - jab, cross, hook, miss, miss, miss.
Woodsmall throws a body shot but no joy. Gracie shoots in for a double leg but Woodsmall sprawls well. That's going to sap some energy. Gracie takes a body punch that cleary hurt but he's trying not to show any weakness. Woodsmall tries to clinch up. Gracie shoots in for a takedown but Woodsmall shows good takedown defense there and keeps this one on the feet. Markus Woodsmall seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout. Gracie swats away the attempt to clinch by Woodsmall. Gracie with the counter takedown but Woodsmall avoids it easily. We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. Gracie takes a jab on the nose there. A little bit of blood seems to be coming out. Hopefully that won't affect his breathing.
Woodsmall throws a right and a left that both miss. Woodsmall throws out a loose jab but Gracie uses good head movement to avoid it.

Gracie drops down looking to force a counter takedown but Woodsmall defends it well. Gracie slips under a jab from Woodsmall. Gracie staying out of range there. Gracie keeps the fight on the outside. Gracie tries a switch kick but it misses it's target. As Gracie tries to get set, Woodsmall tries to push him back and clinch up but Gracie manages to avoid the attempt. Gracie swats away the attempt to clinch by Woodsmall. A jab from Woodsmall misses. Woodsmall tries to clinch but Gracie moves out of range. Gracie slips a straight right by Woodsmall. Woodsmall throws the left hand but Gracie avoids the punch easily. Gracie is looking for a takedown here. He's shot in and has managed to get it, finishing up in Woodsmall's half guard. Gracie prevents Woodsmall from standing back up.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Gracie is trying to control. Woodsmall wants to improve his position but can't escape this time. Gracie is looking to pass the guard... He's managed it - he's now in full mount! Gracie working for a submission but Woodsmall is keeping him at bay. Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show! Gracie controlling his opponent. Gracie wants to take Woodsmall's back but he can't do it this time.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Gracie tucks in and makes sure he doesn't lose the dominant position. Gracie fails to move to back control. Gracie controlling from mount. Woodsmall is trying to escape but when you're mounted that's not too easy.
Gracie controlling from the full mount. The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing. Woodsmall tries to buck Gracie off but he can't manage it.
That's four minutes gone in the round. The crowd are showing their displeasure at the lack of action as loud boos ring out around the arena. Woodsmall is trying to escape the mount but Gracie keeps good control and instead manages to take Woodsmall's back.
Rollo Gracie has got the better of the ground game so far. Gracie tightening his grip on Woodsmall, looking for the choke. Woodsmall wants to get back to his feet. Woodsmall knows he needs to get back to his feet asap. He's simply no match for Gracie on the ground. Gracie working for a choke but Woodsmall is defending well. Gracie looking to break Woodsmall's wrist control so he can sink in the choke. Woodsmall remaining controlled and patient though - he really has to keep calm otherwise Gracie will wrap this one up with the rear naked choke! And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.
Rollo Gracie showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards. That's time! Woodsmall's corner gives him a slap on the ass as he gets ready to fight.
Gracie is trying hard to land a takedown here. Woodsmall sprawls well and keeps this one on the feet. Woodsmall takes a shot to the body in his stride.
Woodsmall is looking to clinch. Woodsmall throws a body shot but no joy. Gracie with the counter takedown but Woodsmall avoids it easily. No joy there for Woodsmall, who threw a few shots but didn't land.

Woodsmall pushes Gracie off looking to stand but Gracie dives back in and keeps control.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. Gracie seems to be working for a kimura but Woodsmall defends the submission attempt. Gracie is looking to take a break and control but Woodsmall is keeping him honest, looking to work from the bottom.
That's one minute gone in the round. Gracie is pressing down on Woodsmall's thigh, looking to free his foot. Woodsmall is holding on for now. Woodsmall keeping his head moving to avoid the ground and pound. Woodsmall pushes Gracie off looking to stand but Gracie dives back in and keeps control.
Woodsmall is not content to let Gracie control the position. Gracie is looking for a kimura here.
Gracie is trying to advance to mount but he's lost his balance and Woodsmall reverses the position - he's now on top in Gracie's guard.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Woodsmall has decided he wants to stand but the closed guard of Gracie is proving hard to escape from. Gracie controls Woodsmall momentarily but Woodsmall frees himself. Woodsmall wants to stand but Gracie has a closed guard, so he can't escape. Gracie looking for submissions off his back, moving his hips, looking for an opening.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Woodsmall trying to stand up but can't free himself from Gracie's guard. Gracie has his foot on Woodsmall's thigh. He's trying to push off and get in position for a triangle, I think. Woodsmall works his way back into a safe position though. Gracie seems keen to control Woodsmall's posture. Our spies down at at HFC Training Center inform us that Gracie has really been working on his submissions in the buildup to this fight. Will it pay off? Gracie not looking particularly offensive just at the moment.

Gracie escapes his hips to the side and looks to be working for an armbar. Woodsmall gives him a little smile and shakes his head. No chance. Gracie trying to control the position here. Boooooooooooooooooooo!!! God, this has been a terrible round. Come on you two, sort yourselves out! Woodsmall wants to stand but Gracie has a closed guard, so he can't escape. And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.
Rollo Gracie really dominated that round. OK. That's time! The bell goes and we're back to the action.
Woodsmall misses with a double jab
and Gracie counters with a nice double leg into side control. Woodsmall won't be happy with that. Gracie wants to lay and pray for a moment but Woodsmall keeps working. Woodsmall is putting a lot of effort into getting back to his feet here. Woodsmall is not content to let Gracie control the position. We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. Woodsmall is looking to get back to his feet here but Gracie is keeping cool and he's managed to take Woodsmall's back. Well, with Gracie on his back, surely it's only a matter of time before Woodsmall is tapping out... Can he escape the position?
That's one minute gone in the round. What can Woodsmall do to escape this position? He's going to have to figure it out pretty quick if he wants to stay in the fight!

Gracie is working for the rear naked choke. He has one arm under the chin but Woodsmall has hold of the other arm. A bit of a stalemate here. Gracie sinks in the hooks and is looking for the choke. He's got it! Woodsmall taps out!
