Coming up we have a lightweight MMA rules bout between Rarl Divinchi (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Gene LaBell (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Gene LaBell has the power to score a knockout today if he connects clean with Rarl Divinchi's chin.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the lightweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 2 - 4 - 0, fighting out of Los Angeles, Rarl Divinchi!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 3 - 2 - 0, fighting out of Los Angeles, Gene LaBell!
The judges for this bout are Frank Antenori, Timothy Bukovac and Jack Bonds.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Divinchi shoots in for a takedown and gets it. Oh and he's advanced to full mount straight away.

LaBell trying to control but he's just got himself in more trouble.

LaBell is displaying good submission defense - not really looking in danger of submitting to the rear naked choke at the moment. That could change in an instant of course if Divinchi gets his way!
Divinchi is trying to stick to LaBell's back but LaBell is turning into Divinchi. He's managed to reverse the position - now he's in Divinchi's guard. Polite applause from the crowd in appreciation of some nice Jiu Jitsu by LaBell.

Divinchi working from the bottom, still in full guard. He's managed to get a loose triangle. LaBell doesn't seem to be doing much to defend here, obviously he feels comfortable in the position. LaBell manages to throw the legs off his shoulder and he's back into guard - no problem.

LaBell stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Divinchi swivels though and keeps the full guard.

Divinchi escapes his hips to the side and looks to be working for an armbar. LaBell gives him a little smile and shakes his head. No chance.
Divinchi is breathing heavily.

Neither fighter is doing enough for the referee's liking and he's decided to stand them back up.

Divinchi shoots in and bounces LaBell off the cage to secure the takedown into guard.
LaBell is trying to keep Divinchi in close.

Divinchi drops back for a leg! It's a sloppy attempt though and Divinchi jumps back into guard quickly, to retain the dominant position.

The fighters are starting to get a bit slippery now, which will make submissions a bit more difficult.

LaBell is active off his back here, looking for submissions.

Divinchi postures up as if he's going to throw some strikes but drops back for an ankle! LaBell is in big trouble! He looks ready to tap! But no, he's escaped and dives on top of Divinchi, into his guard.

LaBell is in a good position here but he's just trying to control... And he's not even managing to do that successfully.

Despite being in the dominant position, Gene LaBell just isn't active enough and the referee decides to stand the fighters back up.
LaBell tries to close the distance and clinch but Divinchi swats him to one side with an open hand palm strike and circles away.

Divinchi is looking to stand up but LaBell isn't so interested in that idea.

The referee has ruled that neither fighter is active enough on the ground and has stood them back up.

And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

That's the end of the round. The referee orders the cornermen out of the cage so we can get back down to business.

and LaBell counters with a nice double leg into side control. Divinchi won't be happy with that.

LaBell stands up.

Divinchi feints and then dives in with a takedown. That was a long way out but the feint bought him enough time to close the distance and complete the takedown. Now we'll play guard for a bit and see who can get the better of that position.

LaBell wants to work for an arm triangle but Divinchi is really keeping half guard well and defending the submission attempt.

The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
LaBell tries to control but Divinchi wriggling away.
LaBell avoids the attempt from Divinchi to control.

LaBell stands up from the dominant position, so we're back on the feet.
The crowd applaud the fighters efforts here as the round comes to an end.
LaBell tries to clinch up but Divinchi circles away and keeps his distance.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Gene LaBell showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards.
The minute break is over - no more time for sponges and pep talks - back to the action! The crowd applaud as we get ready to start the final round!

Divinchi is going to have to think about doing something other than just controlling because LaBell is managing to avoid having the position dictated to him.

Well, the referee has seen enough. Neither fighter is active enough on the ground so he's stood them back up.

LaBell jumps guard but his hands slip and he falls flat on his back. Well, he's made himself look a right mug there, as Divinchi walks away with a smile on his face. LaBell gets slowly back to his feet and shakes his head.
Rarl Divinchi has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Gene LaBell.

LaBell wants to free his trapped foot but Divinchi is holding on for dear life with his legs.

I would just about give that final round to Gene LaBell.
I think LaBell has won this one but let's see whether the judges agree with me. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
