Coming up we have a light heavyweight MMA rules bout between Seth Sexton (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Mercury Hayes (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Sexton's ring entrance music is that housewives' favourite, I'm too sexy - Right Said Fred. Mercury Hayes is the more experienced fighter, so let's see if that makes a difference tonight.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 1 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Seth Sexton!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 3 - 0, fighting out of New York, Mercury Hayes!
The judges for this bout are Bruno Lombardi, Steve Montenegro and Lou da Vinci.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Hayes wants to clinch up but Sexton keeps it at a distance.
A lazy left from Sexton finds it's target.

Hayes rushes Sexton and presses him up against the cage.

Sexton breaks the clinch and we return to the middle of the mat.
Hayes tries a switch kick but it misses it's target.
Sexton scores with a shot to the body.

Hayes forces Sexton back against the cage and clinches.

Hayes manages to break the clinch.
Sexton misses with a body shot.
Hayes doesn't fully commit to the body shot counter.
Hayes tries to clinch but is not successful on this occasion.
Hayes misses with a looping left.

Sexton rushes Hayes and presses him up against the cage.
Sexton blocks a couple of punches on the inside.
Sexton doesn't land with the attempted body shot.
Hayes tries to circle away but Sexton has him pinned against the cage.
Hayes will no doubt start fighting again in a minute but for now he's just having a little rest, leaning Sexton up against the cage.
Hayes lands a nice uppercut.

Hayes's corner calls for him to break the clinch, which he does.
Good shot there by Sexton.
Hayes wants to clinch up but Sexton keeps it at a distance.
Hayes is looking to clinch but Sexton is avoiding it.
Sexton scores with a jab to the jaw.
Hayes fails with a takedown attempt from distance.
Well, he's not going to score with shots like that. A lazy body kick attempt from Hayes.
Sexton wants to clinch.
Sexton avoids a kick to the body.

Sexton closes the distance and clinches.

Hayes jumps guard and drags Sexton to the mat. He's obviously going to be looking for submissions off his back.
Sexton tries to free his leg and advance position but Hayes is retaining full guard.
Hayes wants to control here, rather than go for any submissions from the bottom. At least for now.

Sexton throws a big elbow that misses.

Hayes has scooted to the edge of the canvas and used the cage to get back to his feet. Sexton has stuck on his opponent and is forcing him back against the cage.
This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!
Hayes lands a left hand.
Sexton swings away with an uppercut that misses.
Hayes has had enough of the clinch and is looking to separate.
Sexton tries to break free but Hayes pushes him back against the cage.
Sexton is looking to control Hayes's arms but Hayes gets an underhook and turns him. Now Sexton has his back to the cage.
Sexton keeps the fight in the clinch, despite Hayes's efforts to push away.
Sexton blocks an uppercut.
Hayes changes levels and goes for a takedown here. Sexton fights it off and pushes away nicely.

Sexton has closed the distance and engaged Hayes in a clinch.
Hayes swings away with an uppercut that misses.

Hayes's corner calls for him to break the clinch, which he does.
Hayes tries to close the distance and clinch up but Sexton swats him away and circles back towards the center.

Hayes clinches up against the cage.

That's three minutes gone in the round.

Hayes escapes the clinch and we're back to striking.
Sexton ducks under a wild hook from Hayes.
Sexton scores with a jab to the body.
Sexton uses some good footwork to avoid the body shot by Hayes.
Hayes feints a straight left to the body, then turns around with a flashy move and hits Sextons jaw with a dramatic spinning back fist!
Hayes misses with an uppercut. Sexton saw that one coming.
Hayes throws an overhand right that lands on Sexton's shoulder, as Sexton tries to avoid the shot.
Hayes uses some good footwork to avoid the body shot by Sexton.
Sexton connects with a lovely jab that went straight through the gap between Hayes's hands.
Hayes fakes high and shoots in for a takedown but Sexton avoids it really well and circles away.
Seth Sexton has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Mercury Hayes.
Hayes keeping a good distance there, avoiding the body shot.
Hayes tries to close the distance and clinch up but Sexton swats him away and circles back towards the center.

Sexton breaks the clinch and we return to the middle of the mat.

Sexton has Hayes up against the cage in a clinch.
Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.
Sexton prevents Hayes from breaking the clinch.

Sexton misses with a body shot.
A looping hook to the body misses from Sexton. Hayes does a little dance to reset his feet.
Hayes tries to clinch but Sexton is having none of it.
Sexton avoids a punch combination nicely.
Hayes wants to clinch.

Sexton moves into the clinch.
A shot in the inside from Hayes.

Sexton's corner calls for him to break the clinch, which he does.
Sexton misses with a wild body shot.
Sexton scores with a reasonable looking shot to the body. Hayes doesn't seem bothered though.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

That was a close round but I would say that Seth Sexton will probably get the nod.
The fighters' corners scream their final instructions, as the referee calls time. Here we go, back to the action!


No luck with that takedown attempt from Hayes.
Sexton stooping low to avoid any incoming strikes and then lunges in with an uppercut come cross that lands flush.

Hayes drives through with a takedown into Sexton's guard. Let's see what he can do from the top position.
Hayes scoring with some ground and pound.
Sexton wants to sweep but no luck.
Hayes has the superior BJJ but he's also working some ground strikes into his gameplan.

We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

Sexton looking to try and escape his hips here, looking for a submission. It looks like he's going for a triangle but Hayes is defending well. Sexton quickly switches to an armbar and extends the arm! Hayes has no choice but to tap, to a very quick submission! Wow, that was lightning fast! Sexton celebrates on the cage, with the crowd.
