PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a middleweight MMA rules bout between BJ Penn (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Lucas Fisher (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Chooooooooon! I think Penn might be my favorite fighter, now he's come out to Kung Fu Fighting - The Vamps. Lucas Fisher acknowledges the crowd's support as he enters the cage.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the middleweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 2 - 0 - 0, fighting out of London, BJ Penn!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 3 - 0 - 0, fighting out of London, Lucas Fisher!
The judges for this bout are Sam Margolis, Daniel Bishop and Paul Tew.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Fisher looks frustrated there after his takedown attempt is stuffed easily.
Penn looks exhausted already! Oh dear, he should have come in in better shape than this!
Fisher tries a head kick but it misses.
BJ Penn seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Penn fakes high and swings low for a body shot but Fisher manages to avoid it.
Penn ducks down and throws a hook to the body but Fisher moves away.
A telegraphed takedown attempt from Fisher is defended easily by Penn.
As Fisher backs away, Penn returns fire with a leg kick that just misses.
Good shot there by Penn.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
A nice leg kick lands there from Penn.
Fisher shoots for a double leg takedown but Penn sprawls well. He's pushed Fisher's face into the mat and manages to get back to his feet relatively easily.
BJ Penn has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Lucas Fisher.

That's one minute gone in the round.
Fisher tries for a takedown but Penn circles away easily
and Penn counters with a good right hand that lands right on the jaw.

Fisher closes the distance and pushes Penn back into the cage.
Our sources have told us that Penn has been working on his knees in the buildup to the fight.
Fisher is working on a leg, looking for a takedown but Penn is defending well.
A frustrated look appears on Penn's face as he tries to break the clinch.

Penn escapes the clinch and we're back to striking.

Fisher moves into the clinch.
Fisher pushes off an throws an elbow but Penn leans to the side and avoids it. We're back to clinching against the cage.
Fisher lands a body punch - he's looking to wear down Penn.
Fisher wants a takedown.
Penn wants to break free. God knows he wants to breaaaak freeee.
Penn is trying to break free.
Fisher drops down for a takedown but doesn't get it.
Fisher is trying to drag Penn to the mat but Penn just about manages to keep his footing. He used the cage to his advantage there.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
Penn takes an elbow to the forehead.


It looks like BJ Penn has been cut.
Penn prevents a takedown attempt there.
Penn is pressed up against the cage. Fisher has hold of a leg and is looking to drag Penn down to the mat. Penn avoids the attempt though and has circled away. We're back to striking at a distance.
Fisher shoots in looking for a takedown but Penn manages to keep the fight standing, pushing Fisher's face into the canvas for good measure before circling away.
Fisher blocks a head kick by Penn.
Penn throws a body kick but he was well out of range there.
Fisher misses with a kick to the body.
Fisher fails with a takedown attempt from distance.
Penn throws a quick counter kick to the body but Fisher avoids it.

That's three minutes gone in the round.
Fisher tries to clinch up but Penn circles away and keeps his distance.
Fisher fails miserably with a takedown attempt.
Penn half committed to a counter leg kick.
Penn moves out of range of the body kick.
Penn takes a shot right to the liver - Bas would have been proud of that punch.

Fisher fakes an overhand right and shoots for a takedown. Penn sprawls well initially but Fisher persists and gets the takedown into half guard.
Fisher scores with a couple of good hammerfists.
Fisher should think about turning a few of those tyres round his middle into muscle if he wants people to take him seriously as an athlete.

Fisher wants to work for an arm triangle but Penn is really keeping half guard well and defending the submission attempt.
Fisher frees up his trapped foot and advances to mount.
Fisher in mount throwing good strikes here, bouncing his opponent's head off the canvas.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
Fisher working away from the top, dropping strikes.
The crowd are loving this. Great action here.
Fisher can't quite control the action as he would like just now, as Penn is looking to escape.
Fisher lands a couple of good shots and Penn has given up his back, trying to escape the position!
Penn covers up after taking a massive shot to the side of the head.

Fisher is working for the choke. I would put my money on him to finish from this position. He's rolled onto his back and has dragged Penn with him. Penn is trying to defend but Fisher has an arm under the chin now! Penn grimaces and is forced to tap out!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 4:58 of round 1, we have a winner by way of Submission (RNC). Lucas Fisher!
Our winner, Lucas Fisher, made sure he spent some time buttering up the crowd during his post fight interview, which will no doubt bring him a few more fans.
