The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
A telegraphed takedown attempt from Kaufman is defended easily by Souza.
Souza is looking to land body kicks.
Kaufman dives in for a single leg takedown but Souza sprawls and the fighters end up clinched against the cage.
Souza throws a right and a left that both miss.
Kaufman throws a shot to the body.
Kaufman closes the distance but Souza moves to the side
letting Souza counter with a right hand.

Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.
Kaufman decides to stand up and beckons his opponent to follow.

and Souza makes him pay by landing a nice hook to the body before moving out of range.

Aaron Kaufman is looking to throw some combinations by the looks of things.
Kaufman closes the distance and clinches up with Souza, looking for a takedown. Kaufman pushes Souza against the cage but Souza circles to the side and manages to break the clinch.
