Coming up we have a featherweight MMA rules bout between Jason Maher (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Illidian Newsto (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Jason Maher could well score a knockout today. He has the power to get to Illidian Newsto's chin.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the featherweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.

And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.

4 - 2 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Illidian Newsto!
The judges for this bout are Robert Twigg, George Francis and Tiny Johnson.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Maher looks for a takedown. He's got it. We're now in half guard.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Maher looking for a kimura but he'll have to free his other leg if he wants to finish that. Perhaps he's just using it as a distraction technique.
Newsto is looking to sinch up a guillotine here but Maher pulls his head out easily.
Maher is trying for a guillotine from the top but the pressure isn't in the right place so Newsto is just riding it out for now. Maher eventually gives up the hold.
Maher trying to control from half guard but Newsto is working away.
Maher knows he needs to get back to his feet asap. He's simply no match for Newsto on the ground.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Newsto gets back to full guard.
Newsto escapes his hips to the side and looks to be working for an armbar. Maher gives him a little smile and shakes his head. No chance.

Maher wants to control from the top but Newsto keeps moving.
Newsto working from the bottom, still in full guard. He's managed to get a loose triangle. Maher doesn't seem to be doing much to defend here, obviously he feels comfortable in the position. Maher manages to throw the legs off his shoulder and he's back into guard - no problem.
Maher postures up in Newsto's guard and throws a big left but Newsto blocks it.
Newsto is throwing his legs up, looking for submissions. Maher is aware though and is defending well.
Maher is trying to work a guillotine from the top, or something like that? Don't know how he thinks he's going to get a finish from there.

Newsto is a painfully thin specimen of a man. You do wonder whether a good body kick would snap him clean in two.
Maher has no desire to be mounted, so is trying to control. Newsto is working away from the top position though.
