Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between Tyron Hendricks (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Thiago Alves (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Hendricks's entrance music is I ain't turning back. A fine choice. Over to our ring announcer for the fighter introductions!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.

And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Hendricks fails with a takedown attempt.
Alves knocks Hendricks to the floor with a head kick! Can he finish him!?
It looks like Tyron Hendricks has been cut.
Hendricks tries to improve position but can't.
Alves happy to just control the position for now.
Hendricks is positioning himself to get back to half guard.
That's one minute gone in the round.
You can see the frustration on Hendricks's face, being in this tough position on the bottom.
Alves controls the position.
Hendricks is looking to regain half guard here but Alves keeps moving and retains side control.
Hendricks is trying to control Alves's posture but Alves avoids it.
The referee tells the fighters to keep busy.
Hendricks tries to improve position but can't.
Hendricks wants to control but Alves postures up.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Alves controls the position.
The referee is pacing around the two fighters - he looks like he's thinking about a standup.
That's two minutes gone in the round.
The crowd are starting to boo a lack of action.
Hendricks is looking for a sweep.
Alves moving around in side mount but really he's just happy to control for now.
The referee has decided to stand the fighters back up, so we'll restart on the feet.
Alves throws a head kick that misses and slips in the process. He scrambles back to his feet and the fighters circle.
Hendricks shoots in and drives through. Alves sprawls well.
Alves moves in looking to clinch but Hendricks pushes him off.
Hendricks throws a body shot but no joy.
Alves is looking to clinch but Hendricks is avoiding it.
A nice inside leg kick there by Alves. That's going to slow Hendricks down.
Alves clinches with his opponent.
Alves is defending well against a takedown attempt.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Tyron Hendricks. That's going to take a lot out of him.
Hendricks is trying to pull guard but Alves turns him against the cage and we stay in the clinch.
Hendricks jumps guard but his hands slip and he falls flat on his back. Well, he's made himself look a right mug there, as Alves walks away with a smile on his face. Hendricks gets slowly back to his feet and shakes his head.
Alves takes one to the side of the head.
Alves tries to close the distance and clinch up against the cage but Hendricks paws at him with a jab and circles away.
That's three minutes gone in the round.
Alves avoids the body shot from Hendricks.
Alves throws a big counter head kick but Hendricks avoids it with no problem.
Hendricks swings for the body but Alves moves out of range.
Alves scores with a jab to the jaw.
Hendricks throws the left hand but Alves avoids the punch easily.
The fighters circling - Hendricks throws out the jab but it was never going to land.
Alves tries to close the distance and clinch but Hendricks swats him to one side with an open hand palm strike and circles away.
Hendricks tries to counter by moving into the clinch but Alves manages to circle out of the way.
Alves instigates a clinch.
Alves gets an overhook and lands an elbow to the side of the head.
Hendricks goes for a takedown attempt but Alves pushes him away and we're back to fighting at a distance.
That kick from Alves tenderised Hendricks's leg. Hendricks is trying to keep his angry face on.
Thiago Alves is looking to keep the fight on the feet at all costs.
Alves fails in his attempt to clinch.
Alves moves into the clinch successfully.
Alves stops a takedown attempt from Hendricks.
That's four minutes gone in the round.
Nice elbow from Alves.
Hendricks is rocked!
Alves is struggling to control the position.
Oh Hendricks is still all over the place! His legs are completely gone! Will he be able to recover?!!
The two fighters are working to gain dominance in the clinch.
Alves has Hendricks pressed against the cage. He pushes Hendricks back and as he springs towards him off the cage, Alves throws a beautiful elbow that sends Hendricks crashing to the floor! Alves piles on the pressure with more strikes! Hendricks is flailing away but he's not defending himself and the referee steps in to stop the fight!
Ladies and gentlemen, after 4:16 of round 1, we have a winner by way of TKO (Strikes). Thiago Alves!
After the fight, Thiago Alves was humble in paying tribute to his opponent but made it clear he wants to go on to bigger and better things. It seemed to go down well with the crowd who cheered him loudly.
In defeat, Tyron Hendricks stepped up to the mic, saying 'Congratulations to my opponent. A disappointing loss, but I'm not going to give up. Back to the gym at first chance. '.
