Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
17 - 13 - 1, fighting out of London, Brian Pereira! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
9 - 2 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, John Kordic! The judges for this bout are Sam Margolis, James Ackerman and Richard Clark.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Kordic misses with a left hand and Pereira counters with a takedown into side control. Kordic is looking to reverse the position. Kordic parries the strikes from Pereira easily there. Pereira is wary of posturing up too much because it might enable Kordic to escape.
Kordic tries to work a leg under to get back to half guard but Pereira wriggles his own leg back out and remains in side control. Pereira scores with a couple of nice shots to the head there. The referee takes a look at Kordic to see if he's OK. The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing. Pereira working away diligently from side control. Landing strikes effectively there - that will score him some points on the judges scorecards.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. Pereira fails to land a wild elbow strike.
Pereira advances to mount. Pereira looking to ground and pound but Kordic is blocking nicely.
That's one minute gone in the round. Kordic gets back to half guard. Pereira prevents Kordic from improving his position. Pereira sitting in half guard, looking to land shots. Kordic defending well though. Kordic is trying to maintain the position but Pereira is very close to passing his half guard. Kordic tries to get to full guard but Pereira has control of the leg. Pereira not throwing his punches with enough precision this time.
That's two minutes gone in the round. There's not a lot going on here and the crowd are letting the fighters know they're not willing to tolerate a lack of action. Pereira is looking for a kimura. It's going to be difficult to finish that from half guard though and Kordic defends it well. Pereira wants to lay and pray for a moment but Kordic keeps working. Pereira trying to mount his opponent but Kordic defends it. The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work. Kordic is trying to maintain the position but Pereira is very close to passing his half guard. Kordic is looking for a sweep. Pereira is wise to his cunning plan and keeps the top position.
The ref stands the fighters back up due to a lack of activity.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Pereira scores with a jab to the jaw of his opponent. Kordic misses with an attempted mid kick.
Kordic lands the left hand. Pereira throws a monster uppercut resembling something out of street fighter but it doesn't land. Kordic gets the takedown into side control. Kordic is trying to land an Americana. He has the arm isolated but Pereira is keeping cool and he's avoided the danger for now. Pereira holds on to Kordic's head and controls the position momentarily. Pereira is looking for a sweep. Pereira parries the strikes from Kordic easily there. Kordic is wary of posturing up too much because it might enable Pereira to escape.
That's four minutes gone in the round. Pereira is not content to let Kordic control the position. Pereira struggling a bit here. Kordic in side control lands a nice looking series of punches and elbows. Pereira is trying to get back to half guard. The crowd thankful this round is nearly over. Pereira holds on to Kordic's head and controls the position momentarily. And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Kordic lands with a straight right. Pereira didn't see that one coming. Kordic steps to the side to avoid the strikes from Pereira. Kordic connects with a body shot that sends Pereira's belly button to the back. Well, he's not going to score with shots like that. A lazy body kick attempt from Kordic. Pereira changes levels looking for a counter takedown but doesn't commit. Pereira ducks under an overhand right and circles away with a smile on his face. Kordic fakes low and throws an overhand right that catches Pereira on the side of the head. Kordic wants to clinch. Kordic tries to land a body kick and Pereira counters with a stiff right hand.
It looks like John Kordic has been cut. We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. Pereira uses some good footwork to avoid the body shot by Kordic.

A big right from Kordic misses. Pereira drops down looking for a counter takedown but Kordic sprawls and moves away. A telegraphed takedown attempt from Pereira is defended easily by Kordic.
That's one minute gone in the round. Kordic throws a jab when Pereira was well out of range. Pereira lands with a head kick! That's gotta hurt. Pereira throws a lazy right hand but Kordic sees it coming a mile off and sidesteps it easily. Pereira looks to be in better condition than last time we saw him fight. Obviously he's been working hard on his cardio. Kordic bobs and weaves and then throws a good body kick. A looping hook to the body misses from Kordic. Pereira does a little dance to reset his feet. Pereira displays some good footwork, moving neatly out of range as Kordic throws out the jab. Pereira throws an uppercut from half a mile away. Kordic sees it coming and avoids it easily. Kordic is looking to land body kicks. Pereira moves forwards but Kordic connects with a nice, crisp jab. Kordic throws a low kick, looking for Pereira's leg but Pereira calmly moves out of range. Kordic throws a shot from downtown. Pereira moves away and avoids it. Kordic scores with a punch to the head.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Kordic scores with a big left there. The judges will like that one. John Kordic seems to be getting the better of the standup. Jab, jab by Pereira - just one landing. The crowd are loving this. Great action here. Pereira attempts a leg kick but it's missed by a good margin. Pereira takes one on the button. Pereira bobs and weaves well there to avoid the strikes. Kordic wants to clinch up but Pereira keeps it at a distance. Kordic misses with a looping left. Pereira jabbing away but nothing is landing. Kordic throws a shot from downtown. Pereira moves away and avoids it. Pereira tries to counter with a takedown but Kordic is quick to defend against it. Pereira throws out a leg kick but Kordic moves out of range and Pereira only half commits. Kordic swings away with a body shot that misses
and Pereira counters with a left to the body. A solid body kick from Pereira. The fighters circle, before Pereira throws a beautiful high kick that crashes into Kordic's neck, sending him stumbling to the floor! Pereira lands more strikes and forces a referee stoppage! That one ended in an instant!
