Coming up we have a featherweight MMA rules bout between Granat Xhaka (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Johny Vargas (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Vargas has chosen Drake - Trophies as his entrance music. Both these guys have solid standup skills and neither is particularly fantastic on the ground, so let's hope for a nice standup war!

Introducing the champion to my left, fighting out of the red corner.

And introducing the challenger to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.

5 - 2 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Johny Vargas!
The judges for this bout are Alan Glass, Tiny Johnson and Wesley Smith.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Vargas throws the overhand right but ducks down into a quick takedown attempt. Xhaka was covering up waiting for the punch and Vargas finishes the takedown easily into guard.

Vargas postures up to throw the ground and pound strikes but they don't connect.
Vargas postures up and scores with a shot to the body and a follow up elbow to the head.
Vargas content to strike from guard, landing some decent shots.
Vargas chips away with some ground and pound.
Vargas distracts Xhaka with his right hand and drops a big elbow with his other arm.
Xhaka has his hands on Vargas's head, controlling the position.
Vargas working in close now, lands a nice elbow to the side of Xhaka's head.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

Xhaka has improved his flexibility recently so we will have to see if he can use that to his advantage.
Xhaka on his back here. We all know that wrestlers don't like being on their back so let's see if Xhaka tries to get out of the position.

Vargas has the superior BJJ but he's also working some ground strikes into his gameplan.
Vargas wants to control from the top but Xhaka keeps moving.

Vargas lands a nice shot whilst sitting in his opponent's guard.

Vargas scores with a decent looking elbow strike.
Vargas gets to his feet and stands over Xhaka, holding his ankles. He dives in with a big left hand that connects! Xhaka felt that one! Vargas unloads more punches and elbows and this one is over! The ref has dived in to save Xhaka from any more punishment!
