Coming up we have a heavyweight MMA rules bout between Lamar Harper (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Uriel Ferdinand (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Over to our ring announcer for the fighter introductions!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 0 - 6 - 0, fighting out of New York, Lamar Harper!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of New York, Uriel Ferdinand!
The judges for this bout are Jorge Garcia, Reed Andrews and John Kavanagh.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Ferdinand has Harper up against the cage in a clinch.

Harper pulls guard successfully.
Ferdinand trying to control the position from guard on top but Harper is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can.

Ferdinand decides to stand up and beckons his opponent to follow.
Ferdinand throws a lazy head kick
and Harper counters with a head kick.

Ferdinand shoots in with a lovely double leg takedown. Harper manages to land in full guard to minimise the damage.
Ferdinand prevents Harper from getting back to his feet.
Ferdinand not doing a lot at the moment. He'll have to show some more aggression or the fight will get stood up.
Harper pulls Ferdinand in close to prevent any damage.

That's one minute gone in the round.
Ferdinand throws an elbow that misses. Harper uses the momentum to reverse the position. He's now in Ferdinand's guard. Nice move by Harper!

Ferdinand is working from a closed guard but he's struggling to control his opponent.

Ferdinand looking for submissions from the bottom here. Moving his hips around, possibly looking for an armbar.
Ferdinand wants to sweep here but Harper controlling him for the moment.

Harper wants to pass the guard but Ferdinand is keeping the position.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Ferdinand is looking to get back to his feet but can't, whilst Harper is controlling him.
Harper with a flurry of punches that miss.

Ferdinand is looking for a guillotine. You can't force these things though and Harper defends well.
Harper will need to keep those long limbs tucked in whilst he's on the ground, to prevent any submissions.

Ferdinand wants to get back to his feet but Harper is in a dominant position and won't allow it.
Ferdinand should think about turning a few of those tyres round his middle into muscle if he wants people to take him seriously as an athlete.

Ferdinand pushes Harper off for just long enough to get back to his feet. Very athletic spring there.

Ferdinand controls Harper momentarily but Harper frees himself.

Ferdinand manages to escape and get back to his feet.

Ferdinand shoots in from a long way out. He's driving through with the takedown attempt and he eventually gets it, landing in Harper's guard.
Ferdinand won't allow Harper to get back to his feet.

Ferdinand missing there with some ground and pound from the guard.
This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!
Ferdinand is looking to work some ground and pound but Harper has wrist control.
Harper is trying to stand up but he's not managed so far.
Ferdinand working from the guard for now, landing some ground and pound.
Ferdinand has decided he wants to stand but the closed guard of Harper is proving hard to escape from.
Ferdinand won't allow Harper to get back to his feet.
If this pace continues, the referee will definitely step in and force a standup.
Harper pulls Ferdinand in to control the position.

The referee has motioned to the fighters to stand back up. He just wasn't happy with the level of activity.
The crowd thankful this round is nearly over.

Harper gets caught napping as Ferdinand dives in and scores a takedown. Harper manages to retain guard.

The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Harper looking to sweep here. No luck so far.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

The minute break is over - no more time for sponges and pep talks - back to the action!


Ferdinand throws a sloppy head kick and Harper moves out of range easily.
Ferdinand tests Harper's chin there with a solid looking shot.
Uriel Ferdinand seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.

Ferdinand throws a loose over hand right and dives in with a double leg takedown. Harper tries to sprawl but it's too late and the fighters hit the mat. Ferdinand is in Harper's guard.
A real slowdown in the pace of the fight for a moment, as Harper holds on and takes a little breather.
Harper continues to stall.
Ferdinand scoring with punches to the head and body.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Ferdinand distracts Harper with his right hand and drops a big elbow with his other arm.
Harper knows he needs to get back to his feet asap. He's simply no match for Ferdinand on the ground.
Harper wants to control here, rather than go for any submissions from the bottom. At least for now.

Harper wriggles free and stands up.

Ferdinand moves into the clinch successfully.
Harper drops to a knee looking for a takedown but Ferdinand gets the underhooks and prevents it.

Harper wants to control but Ferdinand postures up.
Ferdinand tries to move into full mount but can't pass Harper's legs.
Ferdinand wants to lay and pray for a moment but Harper keeps working.

Ferdinand landing strikes.
Ferdinand tries to advance to mount but can't.
Uriel Ferdinand has got the better of the ground game so far.
Ferdinand has knee on belly and now moves to full mount! Trouble for Harper!
Ferdinand misses with some ground and pound and Harper recovers position to half guard.
Harper tries to kick Ferdinand off but Ferdinand keeps his base steady and stays in half guard.
Harper is controlling Ferdinand's trapped leg to prevent Ferdinand from advancing to side control.
Harper has no desire to be mounted, so is trying to control. Ferdinand is working away from the top position though.

Ferdinand wants to take a breather but Harper is having none of it.
Harper pushes Ferdinand off looking to stand but Ferdinand dives back in and keeps control.
Ferdinand is trying to control. Harper wants to improve his position but can't escape this time.
Ferdinand is looking to pass the guard... He's managed it - he's now in full mount!

Ferdinand with some aggressive grappling here. He's looking for submissions here, rather than waiting for the opportunity to counter.
Harper is writhing around trying to get back to his feet.
The crowd thankful this round is nearly over.
Harper is bucking up trying to escape but Ferdinand cracks him with another couple of good strikes.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Uriel Ferdinand showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards.

Ferdinand shoots in looking for a single leg takedown. Harper is trying to defend but Ferdinand finishes it well and ends up in half guard. Let's see if he can advance position further.

Harper manages to create a bit of space in order to work his way back to his feet. Ferdinand keeps hold of his opponent and drives him back against the cage.
Ferdinand swings away with an uppercut that misses.
Ferdinand lands a hook that snaps the head of Harper backwards.
Harper tries to take the fight to the ground by pulling guard but can't manage it.
Ferdinand has been the more effective fighter overall so far.
Harper lands a hook to the side of the head.
Ferdinand wants to push off and get back to the center of the mat but Harper has him pressed against the cage.
Harper tries to pull guard but Ferdinand forces him back to his feet, against the cage.
Harper fails to pull the fight into his guard.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Lamar Harper. That's going to take a lot out of him.

We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!

Ferdinand wants to control from the top but Harper keeps moving.
Ferdinand stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Harper swivels though and keeps the full guard.

Ferdinand is intent on slowing down the pace of the fight, simply looking to control.
Harper is looking to get back to his feet but can't, whilst Ferdinand is controlling him.

The crowd are getting on the fighters' backs, as the pace has dropped off in the last minute or so.

Ferdinand gets to his feet. Harper looking to butt scoot but the ref puts an end to that. On your feet son!

Ferdinand takes the fight into the clinch.
Ferdinand tries to land a knee to the head but Harper blocks with his arms.

Ferdinand jumps into guard, dragging Harper to the mat.
Harper has to be careful here, sitting in the guard of a superior BJJ player.

There's a bit of a scramble here and now Ferdinand is on top in guard.

Ferdinand wants to control from the top but Harper keeps moving.

Neither fighter has done anything of merit for a good minute or two here and the crowd are not happy about it.

I would just about give that final round to Uriel Ferdinand.
Well Ferdinand has outworked and out performed his opponent in all aspects of the game today. He was simply too good and the decision should be no more than a formality. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
