Coming up we have a middleweight MMA rules bout between Tony Danza (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Demian Maia (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Chooooooooon! I think Danza might be my favorite fighter, now he's come out to Who's the Boss. Both fighter's entrance songs getting the crowd jumping here.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the middleweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
2 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, Tony Danza! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
1 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, Demian Maia! The judges for this bout are Leandro Rodrigues, Seu Braga and Emerson Jorge.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Danza swings and misses with a hook to the body.
Maia fails with the takedown. Maia gets caught flat footed, as Danza shoots in with a quick takedown into guard. Maia looking for submissions off his back, moving his hips, looking for an opening.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing. Danza showing good wrestling skills to control the position. Maia controls Danza momentarily but Danza frees himself. Danza slows down the pace of the fight for a moment. He'll need to remain active if he doesn't want to see the fight stood back up. Danza looking to pass the guard. Danza controlling from the top position.

He needs to be careful trying to break the legs open, as he's open to submissions here. Danza stopping the sweep attempt from Maia. Maia controls Danza momentarily but Danza frees himself.
Well, the referee has seen enough. Neither fighter is active enough on the ground so he's stood them back up. Maia fails with the takedown and Danza counters with a takedown into side control. Danza working hard here to secure a kimura but he's not really in the right position for it.
That's two minutes gone in the round. You can see the frustration on Maia's face, being in this tough position on the bottom. Maia tries to buck Danza off but Danza is having none of it. Maia is trying to escape the position but Danza is controlling the position. Danza has controlled the position for a good 20 seconds, which will no doubt be starting to frustrate his opponent. Danza working hard here to secure a kimura but he's not really in the right position for it. The fighters are starting to get a bit slippery now, which will make submissions a bit more difficult. Danza throwing strikes but Maia manages to buck up and roll into a nice reversal - now he's on top in side control!
That's three minutes gone in the round. Maia wants to control but Danza is keeping him busy. Maia is trying to move to mount but Danza reverses beautifully and ends up in Maia's guard. Danza controlling from the guard. I say controlling but really, he's stalling. Maia wants to sweep here but Danza controlling him for the moment. Danza trying to control the position from guard on top but Maia is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can. Maia working for a triangle but Danza defends it easily.
That's four minutes gone in the round. Well. There's a bit of a lull in the action here and the crowd are starting to get restless. Danza stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Maia swivels though and keeps the full guard. Danza wants to control from the top but Maia keeps moving.
Neither fighter is doing enough for the referee's liking and he's decided to stand them back up. Danza shoots in from a long way out. He's driving through with the takedown attempt and he eventually gets it, landing in Maia's guard. Danza trying to pass the guard but can't manage it just yet. Maia working a defensive guard here.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Danza wants to lay and pray for a moment but Maia keeps working. Maia is looking to regain half guard here but Danza keeps moving and retains side control. Maia is breathing heavily. Danza is looking for a kimura. He might have it! No, Maia has escaped the position, nice work there.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Danza looking to control but instead Maia has slipped a leg in, to regain half guard. Maia wants to get back to full guard. Danza trying to mount his opponent but Maia defends it. Maia trying to hold on to Danza's head to control him but Danza postures up.

The referee has ruled that neither fighter is active enough on the ground and has stood them back up. Maia gets his takedown attempt stuffed easily and Danza counters with a single leg into guard. Maia didn't expect that. Tony Danza has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Demian Maia.

Danza doesn't seem to be doing much to defend here, obviously he feels comfortable in the position. Danza manages to throw the legs off his shoulder and he's back into guard - no problem. Maia looking for a sweep. Not yet Maia, not yet. The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work. Danza pushing down on Maia's thigh, trying to pass to half guard. He's managed it... Nice work. Danza is just sitting in half guard, waiting for something to happen. Danza trying to pass the guard but Maia defending well. Danza takes a deep breath and rests his weight momentarily on top of his opponent, to control the position.
That's four minutes gone in the round. A few boos can be heard. I'm sure they will multiply if the fighters don't pick up the pace. Maia is looking to sinch up a gullotine here but Danza pulls his head out easily. Danza wants to pass to mount but Maia is defending the position. Maia is looking to regain full guard. Not this time though. Maia trying to hold on to Danza's head to control him but Danza postures up.
Danza is trying a forearm choke… I don't think that's going to do much at this level of the game.
The crowd applaud the fighters efforts here as the round comes to an end.

Maia has his foot on Danza's thigh. He's trying to push off and get in position for a triangle, I think. Danza works his way back into a safe position though. Danza is just sitting in half guard, waiting for something to happen. Maia has no desire to be mounted, so is trying to control. Danza is working away from the top position though. Danza decides to stand up and try his luck on the feet. Maia tries for a takedown but Danza circles away easily so Danza counters with a double leg into guard. Good agility. Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show! Danza slows down the pace of the fight for a moment. He'll need to remain active if he doesn't want to see the fight stood back up.
