Coming up we have a featherweight MMA rules bout between Connor McGregor (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Max Penn (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). We have two fighters making their debuts here, so let's see who comes out of this one with their first professional victory.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the featherweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Hilo, Connor McGregor! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Hilo, Max Penn! The judges for this bout are Ryoma Takatsuka, Paul Gruel and Josh West.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Penn wants to clinch and McGregor counters with a shot to the ribs. That looked like it hurt. A head kick misses from Penn. Penn drops his hands and takes a jab to the jaw for his troubles. McGregor defends well against a solid takedown attempt from Penn. Penn throws a combination but it was largely blocked by McGregor. Penn tries a head kick but it misses.
Penn tries to clinch but McGregor moves away letting McGregor counter with a right hand. The fight stays on the outside here - Penn looks like he's thinking about clinching though. A little feinted left hand from McGregor on the counter but he doesn't commit to it. We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. McGregor lands a body shot.
Penn shoots in for a takedown from distance. He catches McGregor napping and manages to drive through into side control! Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd. Penn is trying to get an arm triangle but McGregor is defending well.
That's one minute gone in the round. McGregor keeps Penn under control for a moment. McGregor can't do much from the bottom here. McGregor tries to control the position but he's not in luck - Penn easily slips into full mount! McGregor on his back here. We all know that wrestlers don't like being on their back so let's see if McGregor tries to get out of the position. Penn can't quite control the action as he would like just now, as McGregor is looking to escape. McGregor knows he needs to get back to his feet asap. He's simply no match for Penn on the ground. A nice elbow there by Penn.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Penn wants to control the pace but McGregor is squirming around nicely. Penn controlling from the full mount. McGregor is squirming around, avoiding Penn's attempts to control the action. McGregor looking to escape from mount but he's given up his back!

Penn somehow managing to miss with a strike from the back. Penn trying desperately to keep hold of the dominant position.

Penn working for a choke but McGregor is defending well. A lull in the action here.
The crowd thankful this round is nearly over. Penn somehow managing to miss with a strike from the back. Penn is working really hard to secure the rear naked choke. McGregor defends successfully for a significant amount of time. Both fighters are looking very determined. And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.
Max Penn dominated that round. The fighters' corners scream their final instructions, as the referee calls time. Here we go, back to the action!
McGregor cracks Penn with a good jab. Penn throws a combination but comes up with nothing but fresh air.

McGregor punishes Penn's body with a nice straight punch. Penn missing with a left hand there. McGregor was out of range so wasted energy throwing that one. Penn tries to shoot in for a takedown. He's got hold of a leg but McGregor swivels and escapes. Penn doesn't succeed with the takedown and McGregor counters with a nice uppercut. We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. Nice uppercut lands for McGregor. That snapped Penn's head back.
Penn gets cracked with a nice right hand there by McGregor. McGregor lands with an uppercut that bounces Penn off the cage and back into range.
That's one minute gone in the round. Nice defenses there by Penn. Penn takes an uppercut right on the button but keeps his composure.
McGregor waving his hands out in front of him, looking to distract Penn. A slow jab from McGregor misses its intended target. Penn fails with a takedown attempt. Connor McGregor has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Max Penn. Penn closes the distance and clinches up with McGregor, looking for a takedown. Penn pushes McGregor against the cage but McGregor circles to the side and manages to break the clinch. McGregor was looking to counter that move with a punch but didn't quite pull the trigger. Penn tries to clinch but fails miserably and Penn takes a counter punch right on the button for his troubles. Penn fails with a takedown attempt. McGregor is looking to counter punch.
That's two minutes gone in the round. McGregor connects with a body shot that sends Penn's belly button to the back. Penn throws a lazy body kick and McGregor counters with a crisp hook to the side of the head. Penn on the wrong end of an overhand right that came out of nowhere. Penn throws a combination that misses and McGregor counters with a good right hand that lands right on the jaw. Penn pushes McGregor up against the cage in a clinch. The crowd are loving this. Great action here. Penn gets a trip takedown into half guard. McGregor wants to get back to full guard. The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing. Penn scores with a couple of good hammerfists. Penn wants to work for an arm triangle but McGregor is really keeping half guard well and defending the submission attempt.
That's three minutes gone in the round. McGregor has no desire to be mounted, so is trying to control. Penn is working away from the top position though. Penn controlling the action here. Penn's corner are shouting for him to control the position and he seems happy to oblige. Penn is working for a kimura but McGregor is defending it quite comfortably.

That's four minutes gone in the round. The crowd are getting on the fighters' backs, as the pace has dropped off in the last minute or so. Ground and pound from Penn. Penn is scoring with some nice ground and pound from the dominant position. Penn trying to control the action but McGregor is working from the bottom. Max Penn has got the better of the ground game so far. Penn decides to stand up. McGregor connects with the punch. And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Penn shoots in for a takedown. "Ole!" shouts McGregor as he jumps to the side. McGregor cracks Penn with a good jab. Penn on the wrong end of a nice hook. Penn looks frustrated there after his takedown attempt is stuffed easily. Penn with a poor takedown and McGregor counters with a lovely shot to the body. Connor McGregor has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Max Penn. We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. McGregor scores with a shot to the body.
McGregor comes forward and lands a shot to the body, then darts back out of range. Penn walks into a jab. Penn closes the distance and gets a trip takedown into side control. McGregor quickly recovers to half guard.
That's one minute gone in the round. Penn escapes and gets back to his feet. Nice uppercut there from McGregor. Penn misses with a takedown attempt and McGregor counters with a series of strikes. Penn will be more careful next time no doubt. Both fighters are breathing heavily. Penn misses with a kick to the body.
Penn has taken the fight to the clinch.

Penn trying to strike from the bottom but really, it's not the best position to be doing that from! Penn has the superior BJJ but he's also working some ground strikes into his gameplan. Penn is working an open guard here, looking to improve his position. No doubt that will leave him open to counters but at least he's being more offensive. Penn looking for a guillotine here but McGregor defends easily.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Penn looking for a sweep. Not yet Penn, not yet. Penn keeping moving, preventing McGregor from controlling successfully. Penn is trying to control the position but McGregor postures up. Penn looking for a sweep. Not yet Penn, not yet.

The referee has decided to stand the fighters back up, so we'll restart on the feet. Max Penn is looking to throw some combinations by the looks of things. Penn throws a right high kick that is partially blocked by McGregor. Penn closes the distance and clinches. A frustrated look appears on McGregor's face as he tries to break the clinch. The pace really dropping off here, momentarily. Penn gets control of McGregor's arms and successfully pulls guard. Penn will no doubt be looking for submissions off his back.
That's four minutes gone in the round. Penn is working actively off his back, looking to secure an arm or perhaps work for a triangle. Penn is working from a closed guard but he's struggling to control his opponent. Penn is working the butterfly guard. He manages to land a nice scissor sweep and is now in half guard on the top. Nice move. McGregor is looking to improve his position.
And that's the end of the fight! I would just about give that final round to Max Penn. I think Penn has won this one but let's see whether the judges agree with me. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
