Coming up we have a heavyweight MMA rules bout between Junior Dos Santos (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Josh Barnett (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Both fighters will be looking to make this an exciting fight for the fans, I'm sure!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the heavyweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
24 - 10 - 0, fighting out of Sydney, Junior Dos Santos! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
28 - 17 - 0, fighting out of Sydney, Josh Barnett! The judges for this bout are Hugh Johnson, Skip Squint and Winston Howard.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Santos swinging wildly here.
Santos ducks down and throws a hook to the body but Barnett moves away. Junior Dos Santos seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout. Barnett uses decent footwork to sidestep a right hand from Santos. Santos connects with a lovely jab that went straight through the gap between Barnett's hands.
It looks like Josh Barnett has been cut. Santos swings wildly with a hook that is half blocked by Barnett. Santos misses with a left hand and Barnett counters with a shoot takedown into half guard. Santos manages to escape and get back to his feet! The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so! Barnett stumbles momentarily as he takes a strong leg kick from Santos. Santos has taken the fight to the clinch.

That's one minute gone in the round. Santos lands a left hand that snaps the head of Barnett backwards. Barnett changes levels and goes for a takedown here. Santos fights it off and pushes away nicely.
Santos loads up on a big right hand but Barnett slips the punch. Santos misses with a right hand and Barnett counters with a takedown into side control. We could do with one of the fighters taking the initiative a bit more on the ground - they're both waiting to capitalize on a mistake. Barnett tries for an arm triangle. That looks pretty tight to me. Is this one over!?! Possibly, maybe, no Barnett has let go of the choke. Obviously it wasn't as tight as we thought! Santos tries to work a leg under to get back to half guard but Barnett wriggles his own leg back out and remains in side control. Barnett is looking to take a break and control but Santos is keeping him honest, looking to work from the bottom. Santos keeping his opponent close.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Barnett lands a decent elbow from side control. Barnett tries for a kimura. Not really close to a finish though. Santos dodges the ground and pound from Barnett. Barnett working the strikes but Santos uses the opportunity to regain half guard. Barnett seems very keen to just sit and control from half guard but Santos does not like that idea so much and is remaining active off his back. Barnett seems to be working for a kimura but Santos defends the submission attempt. This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff! Santos is looking to control Barnett's leg but it's slowly edging free. Can Santos avoid being mounted?

Santos prevents Barnett from moving into mount. Barnett wants to control but Santos is keeping him busy. The strikes coming from Barnett are missing the target in this wave of attacks. Barnett is looking to finish here, going for an Americana. Santos knows the correct defense though, so he's OK. Barnett is pausing for a moment. What's he doing? It looks like he's clearing his nose. Oh dude! He's shot a load of snot all down Santos's shoulder. That is not cool. And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Santos throws the left hand but Barnett avoids the punch easily. And Barnett tries to counter it with a takedown but Santos pushes his down on his head and steps out. We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. Santos waving his hands out in front of him, looking to distract Barnett. Santos swings wildly with a right hand that was never going to find it's target. Barnett needs to keep his hands up - Santos had a free shot at his head there.

Josh Barnett has got the better of the ground game so far. Barnett postures up as if he's going to throw some strikes but drops back for an ankle! Santos is in big trouble! He looks ready to tap! But no, he's escaped and dives on top of Barnett, into his guard.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work. Barnett has his foot on Santos's thigh. He's trying to push off and get in position for a triangle, I think. Santos works his way back into a safe position though.

Not on purpose obviously - he just missed Santos's head.

That's four minutes gone in the round. Well. There's a bit of a lull in the action here and the crowd are starting to get restless. Barnett working the head with strikes. Junior Dos Santos is fighting for a decision here - he's started to take the cautious approach. Barnett looks towards his corner to check for any instructions. The corner give him nothing to work with, so he cracks Santos with a short hammerfist. I guess that's as good as any advice he could get in this position.
And that's the end of the fight! Junior Dos Santos showed his dominance in that final round. Well I reckon that's a shut out for Santos, winning every round. Will the judges agree? They are the ones who matter, even if they are often depressingly incompetent. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
