Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between Ray Malenko (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Jon Snitch (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Both these guys have really solid chins. Will we see a standup war or will they both decide that a knockout is unlikely and try to win the fight elsewhere?

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 18 - 8 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Ray Malenko!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 6 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Jon Snitch!
The judges for this bout are Stewart Dunkirk, Robert Twigg and Cecil Peabody.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Snitch ducks under a wild hook from Malenko.
Snitch throws out a loose jab but Malenko uses good head movement to avoid it.
Snitch shoots in but doesn't get the takedown
and Malenko connects with a straight left hand counter down the middle.
Snitch tries to close the distance and clinch up but Malenko swats him away and circles back towards the center.
No joy there for Snitch, who threw a few shots but didn't land.
Jon Snitch seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
No luck for Malenko with that takedown attempt.
Malenko smiles there as he lands a nice right hand right on the button.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Snitch misses with the combination.
Snitch misses with a leg kick

and Malenko decides to take the opportunity to score a takedown. He's landed in Snitch's guard.
Snitch wants to get back to his feet but he's too absorbed in his own little project and Malenko manages to pass to side control.

That's one minute gone in the round.

We could do with one of the fighters taking the initiative a bit more on the ground - they're both waiting to capitalize on a mistake.
Malenko seems very keen to just sit and control from half guard but Snitch does not like that idea so much and is remaining active off his back.
Malenko wants to free his trapped foot but Snitch is holding on for dear life with his legs.
Snitch is looking to regain full guard. Not this time though.
We've been hearing good reports from Malenko's training camp. Apparently he has been rolling around with some good quality BJJ practitioners and has been sharpening his skills. Let's see if that has an impact on the fight today.
Malenko looking to pass the half guard. Not this time.
Snitch is in trouble now - Malenko has advanced to mount!
Snitch is trying desperately to improve position.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
Snitch tries to control Malenko's body but Malenko pushes him off. Snitch squirms to his side and now Malenko has his back!

Snitch defends a rear naked choke attempt by controlling one of Malenko's arms.
Snitch rolls, trying to escape but Malenko keeps control of the position.
Malenko controls the position.
Snitch is trying to get back to his feet but Malenko has full control of the position and if anything, Snitch has just worked his way into a worse spot.

That's three minutes gone in the round.
Malenko is looking cool and calm here, just waiting for a good opportunity to attack and finish the fight from this dominant position.
Malenko is not going to allow Snitch to sit and survive in this position.
Malenko tries to get the hooks in deep but Snitch pushed the leg off.

Snitch tries to escape but he's let his defenses down in doing so and Malenko has slipped in the rear naked choke! Oh, that's tiiiiiiiiight! Snitch is tapping! This one is aaaaaaaaaaaall over!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 3:53 of round 1, we have a winner by way of Submission (RNC). Ray Malenko!
Our winner, Ray Malenko, made sure he spent some time buttering up the crowd during his post fight interview, which will no doubt bring him a few more fans.
The defeated Jon Snitch had this to say: 'This loss will make me better, I will be back.'.
