Coming up we have a super heavyweight MMA rules bout between Frank Rezzi (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Joe Maxx (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Rezzi comes to the cage accompanied by Mireille Mathieu - Sous le ciel de Paris. Both fighter's entrance songs getting the crowd jumping here.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the super heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 1 - 0 - 0, fighting out of The Island, Frank Rezzi!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of The Island, Joe Maxx!
The judges for this bout are Peter Branson, Sandra Marshall and David Hoff.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Maxx slips under a jab from Rezzi.

Maxx shoots in for a takedown! He's got it and he's managed to land in side control! That's better than Maxx was expecting from the takedown attempt, I'm sure!

Rezzi on his back here. We all know that wrestlers don't like being on their back so let's see if Rezzi tries to get out of the position.

Rezzi has managed to escape just enough to sneak back to his feet but Maxx is on him like a limpet, forcing Rezzi back against the cage.

Maxx has managed to pull guard. Let's see whether he can work an aggressive guard. It will also be interesting to see what tactics Rezzi uses from the top position.

The fighters are starting to perspire pretty heavily.
Rezzi gets to his feet. Maxx looking to butt scoot but the ref puts an end to that. On your feet son!

We've been told by Rezzi's head coaches at Cozad The Island that he's been working on his takedown defense in preparation for this fight.

Rezzi feints and then dives in with a takedown. That was a long way out but the feint bought him enough time to close the distance and complete the takedown. Now we'll play guard for a bit and see who can get the better of that position.
Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.

Maxx might have to switch it up a bit here because his efforts to control Rezzi haven't been going to plan, at least at the current moment in time.
Maxx is working an open guard here, looking to improve his position. No doubt that will leave him open to counters but at least he's being more offensive.

Frank Rezzi seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.

Maxx is looking for a takedown here. He's shot in and has managed to get it, finishing up in Rezzi's half guard.

The corners get their ten second warning. Both fighters stand from their stools and stare eachother down, ready to get back to the action.



Maxx closes the distance and gets a trip takedown into side control. Rezzi quickly recovers to half guard.

Frank Rezzi overall seems to be getting the better of the ground position in the fight so far.

Maxx decides to stand up and beckons his opponent to follow.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

Maxx doesn't manage to clinch there - Rezzi circles away.
Rezzi half commits to a counter takedown before pushing away, out of range.
Nice straight punches there by Rezzi. You know Roy Jones Jr respects the hands of Rezzi.

That was a close second round but I would say that Frank Rezzi will probably get the nod.

Maxx tries to clinch but is not successful on this occasion.

A few boos can be heard. I'm sure they will multiply if the fighters don't pick up the pace.

Frank Rezzi is fighting for a decision here - he's started to take the cautious approach.
Rezzi jumps guard but Maxx stands there with Rezzi around his waist. Rezzi gives up and drops back to his feet. We remain in the clinch.

Well I reckon that's a shut out for Rezzi, winning every round. Will the judges agree? They are the ones who matter, even if they are often depressingly incompetent. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
