PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a lightweight MMA rules bout between Caio Bottura (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Daniel Tinto (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Bottura comes into the arena with Face The Pain blaring out of the sound system. The crowd seem to be enjoying Tinto's choice of entrance music: Shell Shocked. I'm sure you'll be fascinated to know that I was talking to some pointless Z list celebrity before the fight and he thought that Daniel Tinto was going to win. Let's see if he was right.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the lightweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 7 - 1 - 1, fighting out of Las Vegas, Caio Bottura!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 11 - 4 - 2, fighting out of Las Vegas, Daniel Tinto!
The judges for this bout are Cecil Peabody, Stewart Dunkirk and Tiny Johnson.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Bottura misses with a double jab

and Tinto counters with a nice double leg into side control. Bottura won't be happy with that.
We could do with one of the fighters taking the initiative a bit more on the ground - they're both waiting to capitalize on a mistake.
Bottura is trying to improve his position.
A lull in the action here as Tinto stalls from top position.
Bottura tries to bench press Tinto off him but Tinto keeps the position.
Tinto takes a little break here. Bottura wants to take advantage but he is being controlled well.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Bottura is looking to regain half guard here but Tinto keeps moving and retains side control.

Neither fighter has done anything of merit for a good minute or two here and the crowd are not happy about it.

Tinto content to control the pace. The referee will try and keep them active though.
Bottura manages to get one leg in to regain half guard.
Bottura is not content to let Tinto control the position.
Bottura tries to roll over but Tinto keeps him under control.

Tinto seems to be looking to move to his opponent's back but Bottura is holding on tight.
Tinto misses with a series of strikes from mount. He'll no doubt be working on his ground and pound when he gets back to the gym.

Tinto is in full mount, looking to secure a guillotine but Bottura is surviving well by controlling Tinto's body position as best he can.

Bottura bucks up and manages to get a nice reversal! He's in guard on the top - nicely done!
Bottura stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Tinto swivels though and keeps the full guard.

Tinto has a loose triangle. He'll be looking to tighten that up but Bottura can see exactly what he's planning and manages to posture up and free himself.
Tinto controls Bottura momentarily but Bottura frees himself.

Tinto had isolated an arm as going for a kimura. Bottura defends it easily.

Tinto working from the bottom, still in full guard. He's managed to get a loose triangle. Bottura doesn't seem to be doing much to defend here, obviously he feels comfortable in the position. Bottura manages to throw the legs off his shoulder and he's back into guard - no problem.

Tinto sneaks a leg through and gets to half guard. That was like a knife through butter how easily he passed Bottura's guard.

Well. There's a bit of a lull in the action here and the crowd are starting to get restless.
Bottura makes his way to full guard. A much better position for Bottura.
Bottura pulls Tinto in close to prevent any damage.
Bottura is working from a closed guard but he's struggling to control his opponent.
Tinto is pushing down on Bottura's leg trying to pass to half guard. Bottura is fighting to maintain full guard but Tinto has managed to sneak the leg through.

A close second round but Daniel Tinto will probably get the nod - 10:9.
The corners get their ten second warning. Both fighters stand from their stools and stare eachother down, ready to get back to the action. This is the final round!

There's not a lot going on here and the crowd are letting the fighters know they're not willing to tolerate a lack of action.
Tinto is pausing for a moment. What's he doing? It looks like he's clearing his nose. Oh dude! He's shot a load of snot all down Bottura's shoulder. That is not cool.
Bottura tries to bench press Tinto off him but Tinto keeps the position.
Bottura is sneaking out the side here. He's bucked Tinto off and has taken his back!

Bottura escapes his hips to the side and looks to be working for an armbar. Tinto gives him a little smile and shakes his head. No chance.

Tinto seems content to control from guard here. He's going to have to remain active though if he doesn't want to get stood back up.

I would just about give that final round to Daniel Tinto.
I've got Tinto winning every round here. Surely the decision will go his way and he'll pick up a well deserved decision victory. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
