PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a featherweight MMA rules bout between Bill Bronson (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Robledo Puch (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Puch has chosen Breathe as his entrance music. Rumors backstage are that the fighters have been paid to keep it standing but we know that would never happen in MMA!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the featherweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 17 - 6 - 1, fighting out of New York, Bill Bronson!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 37 - 16 - 2, fighting out of Tokyo, Robledo Puch!
The judges for this bout are Sam Margolis, Phil Schofield and Paul Tew.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Puch slips a straight right by Bronson.
Bronson looks for a takedown here. Will he get it? Puch is fending him off so far but Bronson persists. Nope, Puch circles away and we're back to standing.
Puch lands a straight punch to the body, keeping Bronson at a distance.
Bronson tries to land with a swinging hook to the body but Puch was well out of range. Poor timing from Bronson.

Puch shoots in and scores a nice double leg takedown into half guard.
Bronson is looking for a sweep. Puch is wise to his cunning plan and keeps the top position.
Puch throwing shots but they're hitting the canvas more than the man.
Bronson tries to roll over but Puch keeps him under control.
Puch lands with a punch from half guard.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Bronson is trying to maintain the position but Puch is very close to passing his half guard.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Puch takes advantage of the dominant position to land a couple of big hammer fists.
Bronson moves into full guard.
Puch cracks Bronson with a solid left hand.

That's one minute gone in the round.

Puch got a little sloppy there for a moment and Bronson has worked his way into a loose triangle - can he finish it?! No, Puch has managed to get both his arms back between Bronson's legs - danger averted.
Puch throws a big right hand that misses.
Puch distracts Bronson with his right hand and drops a big elbow with his other arm.
There's a bit of a scramble here and now Bronson is on top in guard.

Bronson wants to control from the top but Puch keeps moving.

Puch is looking for a guillotine. You can't force these things though and Bronson defends well.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Puch working a defensive guard here.
Puch has momentary wrist control but Bronson slips an elbow through the middle.
Bronson throwing shots from guard but he's hitting more mat than opponent.
Bronson is working Puch over from the guard. He should look to pass the guard and do a little more damage with these strikes.

Puch had isolated an arm as going for a kimura. Bronson defends it easily.

Bronson with a flurry of punches that miss.

Puch working for a triangle but Bronson defends it easily.
Bronson lands a couple of decent looking shots.
Bronson keeps in close for a moment and lands a decent shot to the side of Puch's head.
Puch controlling the position.

Bronson advances position into side control!
Bronson lands a nice forearm strike.
The crowd are loving this. Great action here.
Puch sneaks a leg under to get back to half guard.
Bronson working some ground and pound from close in. He's looking to maintain this position and strike for a while by the looks of things... although he'll probably advance to full mount in a minute now I've said that.
Puch has the superior BJJ but he's also working some ground strikes into his gameplan.

Puch regains full guard. Nicely done.
Bronson is in close to Puch's body, working some short punches and elbows.
Puch looking to hit a scissor sweep but Bronson is one step ahead there.
Puch keeping moving, preventing Bronson from controlling successfully.
Bronson working some strikes from top position.
Puch wants to sweep but no luck.
Bronson pressing down on his opponent's thigh, looking to pass guard. Puch is keeping the position for now.

Puch escapes his hips to the side and looks to be working for an armbar. Bronson gives him a little smile and shakes his head. No chance.
Puch is controlling Bronson's posture.
Puch is working an open guard here, looking to improve his position. No doubt that will leave him open to counters but at least he's being more offensive.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
Bronson is working Puch over from the guard. He should look to pass the guard and do a little more damage with these strikes.
Puch trying to keep a closed guard but Bronson is proving a slippery customer.

Bronson lands a couple of decent looking shots.
Bronson stands up over Puch, holding his feet. He dives back in and lands a decent shot to the head.
Bronson with a couple of shots to the head there. Not particularly brutal.
Bronson is working the ground and pound from guard. He might want to try advancing position though to get more of an impact.
Puch is working the butterfly guard. He manages to land a nice scissor sweep and is now in half guard on the top. Nice move.

Bronson is looking to regain full guard. Not this time though.
Puch throwing shots but they're hitting the canvas more than the man.
Puch sitting in half guard, looking to land shots. Bronson defending well though.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

A close round but Robledo Puch will probably get the nod.
That's the end of the round. The referee orders the cornermen out of the cage so we can get back down to business.


Bronson smiles there as he lands a nice right hand right on the button.
Bill Bronson seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Bronson misses with a body shot.
Puch avoids the body shot from Bronson.
Puch throws an uppercut from half a mile away. Bronson sees it coming and avoids it easily.
Bronson feinted with a counter takedown.
Puch lands with a hook. Bronson tried to avoid it but it clipped the top of his head.
Bronson misses with a body shot. Nice footwork from Puch.
Jab, jab by Bronson - just one landing.
Bronson throws a hard body shot but it just misses.
Bronson is looking to wear down Puch with body shots, infact he's throwing more body shots than head shots at the moment.
Bronson is moving around nicely and scores here with a single head shot.
Bronson is the aggressor but that punch slipped nicely by Puch.
Puch changes levels for a counter takedown but doesn't follow through with his attempt.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Puch throws a body shot but no joy.
Bronson uses some good footwork to avoid the body shot by Puch.
Bronson moves in looking to clinch but Puch pushes him off.
Bronson looks to land a left hand but Puch moved out of range nicely.
Bronson moves out of range as Puch strikes.

Puch walks into a left hand.
Bronson missing with a left hand there. Puch was out of range so wasted energy throwing that one.
Puch jabbing away but nothing is landing.
A punch lands to the side of Bronson 's head but he takes it in his stride.
Puch throws a right and a left that Bronson avoids nicely.
Bronson doesn't react quick enough there as he takes a shot to the body.
Puch slaps away a takedown attempt from Bronson, before circling back to the center of the mat.
Bronson tries to clinch up.
Bronson looks to score with a jab to the body but Puch is just out of range.
Bronson shoots in and drives through. Puch sprawls well.
Puch feints the counter takedown.
A swing and a miss from Bronson.
Bronson misses with a hook to the body

and Puch decides to take the opportunity to score a takedown. He's landed in Bronson's guard.
Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show!
Hammerfist, elbow! yells Puch's corner. There ya go! There ya go!

That's two minutes gone in the round.
Puch forces his way into half guard.

Bronson is looking to sinch up a guillotine here but Puch pulls his head out easily.
Puch is keeping good posture, landing some ground and pound.
Puch lands with an elbow from half guard - that looked like it hurt.
Puch landing with strikes to the body and head, softening up his opponent.


Bronson is rocked!
Puch lands with a punch from half guard.
Oh Bronson is still in real trouble! Will he be able to recover?!!
Robledo Puch has got the better of the ground game so far.
Bronson has hold of Puch's hands but Puch slips his arm to the side and lands an elbow.
Puch looks to score some points with some ground and pound.
Puch lands a big elbow - Bronson is out of it! He's waving his arms around but his eyes are closed and he's not intelligently defending himself - the ref has no choice but to jump in and stop the fight! This one is in the books! A TKO win for Puch!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 3:58 of round 2, we have a winner by way of TKO (Strikes). Robledo Puch!
Robledo Puch really struggled to get his t-shirt on before his hand was raised. Making sure that Hellbent logo gets some air time is pretty tricky when you're all sweaty.
