Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
34 - 21 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Cung Le! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
26 - 16 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Melvin Gustin! The judges for this bout are William Peck, Yves DeLean and Steve Smith.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Gustin misses with a head kick.
Gustin clinches up with Le and pushes him back against the cage. Gustin avoids a wild elbow strike from Le. Gustin prevents a body shot from Le. Le tries a knee to the head but Gustin blocks it.

Gustin lands with a quick shot inside that doesn't really do much damage. Gustin managing to block the knees to the body from Le.
Gustin will no doubt start fighting again in a minute but for now he's just having a little rest, leaning Le up against the cage. Le misses with a knee strike.

The crowd are getting on Gustin's back here. They're not happy about his lack of aggression in the clinch. The ref breaks the fighters up, due to lack of action by Melvin Gustin. Le scores with a jab to the jaw.

A big right from Gustin misses. Le goes for a spinning back kick but it misses. Le wants to clinch up but Gustin keeps it at a distance. Le throws a lazy head kick and Gustin counters with a stiff right hand. The crowd are loving this. Great action here. Nice shot by Le. Gustin rushes Le and presses him up against the cage. Le misses with a hook from the clinch.

Gustin is looking to control Le's arms but Le gets an underhook and turns him. Now Gustin has his back to the cage. Stalling in the clinch from Le.
Gustin escapes the clinch and we're back to striking.
Le lands a powerful looking uppercut that connected with his opponent's jaw.
Gustin is rocked! Melvin Gustin seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout. A big right from Gustin misses. Gustin is still on wobbly legs! Can Le finish him? Gustin lands a straight punch to the body, keeping Le at a distance.
Gustin seems to have recovered his senses. Le is looking to take this fight into the clinch. Gustin tries to check a leg kick but that clearly hurt him. Gustin throws out a loose jab but Le uses good head movement to avoid it. Gustin darts in and clinches Le up against the cage. Le working aggressively here.

That's four minutes gone in the round. Gustin wants to push off and get back to the center of the mat but Le has him pressed against the cage. Le with the Thai clinch. He's looking to land a big knee but he's not managed it this time.

Le tries to land knees in the clinch but Gustin avoids the damage to the body. A frustrated look appears on Gustin's face as he tries to break the clinch. Gustin lands a left hand.

The crowd are loving this. Great action here. Le throws a nice elbow but it doesn't land.

Gustin tries a shoulder strike but it doesn't do any damage. Le unloads a knee to the mid-section. Gustin lets out a prehistoric sounding urrrrgh. And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.
A close round but Melvin Gustin will probably get the nod. The cut man is working on Melvin Gustin's cut. That's the end of the round. The referee orders the cornermen out of the cage so we can get back down to business.

Gustin looks like he'd prefer to be striking at range right now. Le stalling in the clinch but Gustin improves position. Le gets an overhook and lands an elbow to the side of the head. A head punch on the inside from Gustin fails to land. Gustin dictating the pace here, as the fighters clinch against the cage. Le has Gustin pushed against the cage. We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. The pace slowing considerably in the clinch, as Gustin takes a break from that fighting nonsense to think about the finer things in life. Gustin tries to land a knee to the body but he is off balance and Le avoids it. Le landing knees to the head.

Gustin uses good head movement to avoid the hook from Le. Le sets himself, and Gustin steps forward looking for the clinch! Le avoids it this time. Melvin Gustin seems to be getting the better of the standup. Gustin closes the distance and presses his opponent up against the cage. Le working some nice short punches in the clinch. Le lands a nice elbow.
That has opened up Melvin Gustin's cut even more. Le misses with a knee to the head. Le is working hard here but doesn't seem to be able to control effectively, up against the cage. Le throws a vicious knee straight up the middle but Gustin blocks it with crossed arms. Gustin breaks the clinch.
Gustin misses with a half-hearted attempt at a head kick.
That's two minutes gone in the round. The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so! Gustin tries a head kick but it misses.
Le misses with a looping left. Le swings for the body but Gustin moves out of range.

Le lands a jab. Gustin buckles his opponent's knee momentarily with a nice leg kick.

Gustin gets clipped by a big right hand and goes down spinning to the canvas! Le gets the back mount and begins to drop bombs on his rocked foe! Gustin is too out of it to defend against the strikes and the referee jumps in to save him from the beatdown!
