Coming up we have a light heavyweight MMA rules bout between Artimus Angar (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Vernon Russell (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Over to our ring announcer for the fighter introductions!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 2 - 1 - 0, fighting out of New York, Artimus Angar!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 1 - 5 - 0, fighting out of New York, Vernon Russell!
The judges for this bout are Jonathan Paton, Steve Montenegro and Dean Styles.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Angar scores with a nice one two combo and darts back out of range to avoid anything coming in the opposite direction.
Russell shoots in looking for a takedown. Angar tries to sprawl out of it but Russell keeps driving through. The fighters are pinned against the cage. Angar manages to get underhooks and after a bit of a struggle, circles away and we're back to standing.
Angar appears to be looking for a big counter.
A punch combination from Angar misses.
Angar misses with a two punch combination.
Russell looks for a takedown but Angar sprawls well.
Russell dodges the punch combination from Angar.
Russell shoots in for a takedown. "I don't think so" says Angar as he avoids it easily.
Artimus Angar has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Vernon Russell.
Angar throws a combination but it was largely blocked by Russell.
Russell with the counter takedown but Angar avoids it easily.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Russell shoots in looking for a double leg takedown. Angar defends it nicely.
Russell checks a leg kick.
Angar throws a head kick but Russell moves out of range.
Angar turns his hip over beautifully as he lands a nice leg kick.
Angar looks to have improved his striking defense since last time we saw him fight.

That's one minute gone in the round.
Russell shoots in looking for a takedown but Angar manages to keep the fight standing, pushing Russell's face into the canvas for good measure before circling away.
Angar throws a nice inside leg kick.
Russell shoots for a double leg takedown but Angar sprawls well. He's pushed Russell's face into the mat and manages to get back to his feet relatively easily.
Angar circles away from the clinch attempt
and Angar counters with a three punch combination, finished off with a leg kick. Nice work.
Russell dives in and grabs Angar's left leg, looking for a takedown. Angar pushes down on Russell's head and hops out.
Angar looks to score with a combo but nothing lands.
Sloppy strikes from Angar. Those never looked like landing.
Angar tries to bum rush Russell with a series of wild strikes but Russell uses good footwork to avoid the assault.
Angar dodges the punch combination from Russell.
That's a knee to de groin and it's over and out! Russell crumples to the ground after an illegal strike from Angar - the referee stops the clock and Russell gets 5 minutes to recover from that one. "I'm sorry" says Angar. Russell manages to get back to his feet and the fight resumes.
Angar looks to land a combination. Russell sees it coming but can only parry a couple of the shots.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!
Angar falls off balance throwing a combination
and Russell counters with a quick right hand to the jaw.
Russell has a takedown stuffed.
Russell swings and misses with a hook to the body.
Russell tries a switch kick but it misses it's target.
Russell throws a body kick that misses.
Angar stuns Russell with a nice body shot, before stepping back out of range.
Russell pulls out of a head kick attempt.
Russell shoots in but Angar avoids the takedown attempt easily.
Angar fakes and then throws a beautiful body shot. Russell looks a bit winded and takes a step backwards to take a breath.
A combination from Angar does no damage.
Angar getting the better of the striking in that exchange.
Artimus Angar is looking to keep the fight on the feet at all costs.

That's three minutes gone in the round.
Angar throws a head kick that looked like it stung.
Angar misses with an uppercut. Russell saw that one coming.
Russell will have to do better than that with his takedown attempts.
Russell is looking to clinch but Angar is avoiding it.
Angar throws a combination that misses
and Russell counters with a three punch combination, finished off with a leg kick. Nice work.
Russell throws a hard body shot but it just misses.
Angar appears to be looking for a big counter.
Artimus Angar seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Russell shoots in for a takedown. He's persisting with it as Angar sprawls well. Angar wins this battle and keeps the fight standing. Russell gets slowly back to his feet.
Russell tries to drive through with a takedown attempt but Angar defends well and Russell ends up having to push Angar into the cage where they will battle it out in the clinch.
Angar throws a sloppy head kick and Russell moves out of range easily.
Russell shoots and misses

Angar fakes and then throws a beautiful body shot. Russell looks a bit winded and takes a step backwards to take a breath.
Russell looks winded!

Angar lands a big head kick that sends Russell tumbling to the mat! Angar takes a step backwards and waves Russell back to his feet - he wants the finish!


Russell is rocked!
Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.
I'm just looking down at my notes here and I see that.... oh! Angar has cracked Russell with a big right, followed by a left! He's out on his feet! Angar lands another huge swinging hook and Russell tumbles to the canvas! The ref dives in to save Russell, before Angar can land any more shots!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 4:59 of round 1, we have a winner by way of KO (Punches). Artimus Angar!
Artimus Angar decided to go for the less than humble approach in his post fight interview, telling everyone how he is going to conquer the world. The crowd seemed to like it when really that sort of approach could have gone either way.
