PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between Sung Rios (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Smelly Chest (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). We have two fighters making their debuts here, so let's see who comes out of this one with their first professional victory.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Amsterdam, Sung Rios!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Amsterdam, Smelly Chest!
The judges for this bout are Wagner Zegers, Daniel Blasius and Saam Ante.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Rios fakes with an overhand right and moves in to clinch with Chest, pushing him back against the cage.
Chest throws an elbow but it's blocked.
Rios is trying to drag Chest to the mat but Chest just about manages to keep his footing. He used the cage to his advantage there.
Chest is trying to slow down the pace of the fight but Rios is keeping busy.

Rios successfully pulls guard.
Rios is doing well to control the posture of his opponent and prevent any damage.
Rios has controlled the position for a good 20 seconds, which will no doubt be starting to frustrate his opponent.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Chest stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Rios swivels though and keeps the full guard.
Rios throws a couple of shots from the bottom but they don't land.
Rios looking to control.

That's one minute gone in the round.
Rios is pulling down on Chest's head. It's preventing any offense from Chest, at least for the moment.
Rios has been looking to land a fair amount of strikes on the ground. He might be looking to soften his opponent up in order to work for a submission.
Rios's ground tactics aren't going to win him many fans. Let's hope he's got fireworks for us if he gets back to his feet because he's not doing much on the ground.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Chest trying to pass the guard but can't manage it just yet.
Rios is working from a closed guard but he's struggling to control his opponent.
Chest must be cautious of submissions here, given that his opponent has the superior Jiu Jitsu.
Rios tries to land a sweep but no joy.
Rios is trying to keep Chest in close.

The referee has stepped in and called for a break in the action. We'll restart on the feet.
Chest throws a series of punches but Rios avoids them all with ease.
Smelly Chest is looking to keep the fight on the feet at all costs.

Rios closes the distance and clinches.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
Rios jumps guard but Chest stands there with Rios around his waist. Rios gives up and drops back to his feet. We remain in the clinch.
Rios could do with losing a few pounds - he looks very soft around the mid section, to put it politely.
Chest misses with the head strike.
Rios tries to pull guard but Chest won't allow it.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Sung Rios. That's going to take a lot out of him.
Chest misses with a shot to the kidneys.

Rios decides to pull guard.
Chest's corner is telling him to maintain position.
Chest wants to control from the top but Rios keeps moving.
Rios managing to control the position.

Rios is looking for a guillotine. You can't force these things though and Chest defends well.
Chest is looking to work some ground and pound but Rios has wrist control.
Chest trying to control but Rios is working from the bottom.
Chest postures up.
Rios might be looking to lock onto one of his opponent's long limbs for a submission, whilst we're on the ground.

That's three minutes gone in the round.
Rios pulls Chest in close to his closed guard and prevents Chest from doing any damage or advancing position.
Rios keeping full guard, as Chest tries to pass.
A real slowdown in the pace of the fight for a moment, as Rios holds on and takes a little breather.

Rios has a loose triangle. He'll be looking to tighten that up but Chest can see exactly what he's planning and manages to posture up and free himself.
Chest controls the pace of the fight for a moment.
Rios not looking particularly offensive just at the moment.
Rios has control of Chest's left arm, preventing Chest from doing any damage.

The ref stands the fighters back up due to a lack of activity.
Chest is a painfully thin specimen of a man. You do wonder whether a good body kick would snap him clean in two.

Rios clinches up with Chest and pushes him back against the cage.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
A few boos can be heard. I'm sure they will multiply if the fighters don't pick up the pace.
Chest tries to land a knee to the head but Rios blocks with his arms.

Chest pushes off and circles away, back to the middle of the mat.
Chest scores with a push kick.
Rios is breathing heavily.
Chest fakes a couple of low kicks, before throwing one on the third attempt. It connects and Rios has to reset his feet before getting ready to engage.
A slapping leg kick lands for Chest.
A chopping leg kick lands by Chest.
Boooooooooooooooooooo!!! God, this has been a terrible round. Come on you two, sort yourselves out!
Rios wants to stay close but Chest steps back to make room for something. Rios seems frozen to the spot and bam! huge swing of the leg from Chest and Rios drops like he has been shot! A huge head kick and it's all over!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 4:55 of round 1, we have a winner by way of KO (Head Kick). Smelly Chest!
