Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between Leon Phelps (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Mario Jones (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Phelps comes to the cage accompanied by Let's Get it On. The crowd seem to be enjoying Jones's choice of entrance music: Quando Quando Quando. Mario Jones has the better chin. Will he look to stand and bang today?

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
3 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Leon Phelps! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
2 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Los Angeles, Mario Jones! The judges for this bout are Chris Downing, Wesley Smith and George Francis.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Jones misses with a hook. Phelps ducked under it nicely. Jones throws a body shot but no joy. Phelps sizes up Jones with a pawing jab and scores with a straight right down the middle. Phelps misses with a jab and misses with a cross straight after too.
Jones has his head snapped back a nice jab. A little nod from Jones there as he acknowledges the shot. A shot to the liver by Jones. Beautiful body shot. Phelps drives through and clinches with Jones against the cage.
Jones scores with a shot to the side of Phelps's head. We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. Phelps has a body lock and is looking for a takedown. Jones is bouncing around trying to prevent the takedown and somehow he has indeed managed to stay on his feet. The referee calls for Jones to work.
We've been hearing reports that Phelps has been drilling takedowns in recent sessions so let's see if that has an impact on the result of this fight. Phelps pulls guard effortlessly. Phelps on his back here. We all know that wrestlers don't like being on their back so let's see if Phelps tries to get out of the position. Jones trying to control but Phelps is working from the bottom.
That's one minute gone in the round. Jones being controlled here momentarily. Phelps is looking to stand up but Jones isn't so interested in that idea. Jones trying to stand up but can't free himself from Phelps's guard. Phelps wants to stand up but Jones is controlling him. A big thud reverberates around the arena there as Jones accidentally thumps the mat. Hopefully he's not broken his hand. Phelps managing to control the position. The referee is pacing around the two fighters - he looks like he's thinking about a standup.
That's two minutes gone in the round. The crowd are getting on the fighters' backs, as the pace has dropped off in the last minute or so. Jones has decided he wants to stand but the closed guard of Phelps is proving hard to escape from.
The ref stands the fighters back up due to a lack of activity. Phelps rushes forward with a series of wild hooks but Jones moves out of range and avoids them all easily. Phelps paws at his opponent with the jab and then lunges in with a straight, right on the button. Phelps slips a jab from Jones. Phelps seemed to be looking to counter by closing the distance. Phelps avoids the body shot from Jones.
Jones lands a beauty of a right hand that gets the crowd cheering.

That's three minutes gone in the round. Jones circles to his right before unloading a perfect head kick! Phelps drops to the canvas, hurt badly! Jones follows Phelps to the ground and unloads with a series of strikes that force the referee to step in and end the fight! This one is all over!
Ladies and gentlemen, after 3:09 of round 1, we have a winner by way of TKO (Strikes). Mario Jones! In his post fight interview, Mario Jones started talking himself up. Luckily his charisma kept the crowd on side and gave him a good reception. In defeat, Leon Phelps stepped up to the mic, saying 'I need my Civadier.'.
