Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.

And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.

0 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Marco Elaris!
The judges for this bout are Ian Loll, Robert Douchet and Steve Smith.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Matthews avoids the body shot from Elaris.
Matthews fails with the takedown
and Elaris counters with a lovely straight right hand!
Elaris throws a body punch but Matthews moves out of range.
Elaris looks to score with a combo but nothing lands.
Elaris looks to land a left hand but Matthews moved out of range nicely.
Elaris missing with a left hand there. Matthews was out of range so wasted energy throwing that one.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Matthews rushes Elaris and presses him up against the cage.
Matthews has dropped down and is looking to force the takedown but it's defended by Elaris after a bit of a struggle.
Matthews gets the body lock takedown. After a quick scramble, Elaris regains guard.
Matthews trying to control the position from guard on top but Elaris is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can.

Matthews passes Elaris's right leg, so he's now in half guard.
Matthews missing with the ground and pound from half guard.
Matthews throwing shots but they're hitting the canvas more than the man.
Matthews seems very keen to just sit and control from half guard but Elaris does not like that idea so much and is remaining active off his back.
Matthews is trying to work for a kimura. This could be trouble! No, Elaris has managed to free his arm - good work.
Elaris wants to improve his position but Matthews is controlling well.
Elaris is trying to control but can't.
Elaris is looking to regain full guard. Not this time though.

Matthews is thinking about going for an arm triangle but he can't free his leg.
Elaris is refusing to be controlled, as Matthews sits in half guard.
Matthews is figuring out what he wants to do next.
Elaris really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Matthews. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out.
Matthews is trying a forearm choke… I don't think that's going to do much at this level of the game.

The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Matthews is trying for a kimura here. Elaris looks like he's in a lot of pain... and he's tapping out! Matthews wins by kimura!
