PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a middleweight MMA rules bout between Duke Newell (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and David McFadden (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). McFadden comes into a darkened arena with his song building. Sevendust - Enemy kicks in, the lights come on and the crowd goes wild! What a showman! These two fighters really are very evenly matched on the feet - it will be fascinating to see who can assert themselves in that aspect of the fight.

And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 9 - 12 - 1, fighting out of New York, David McFadden!

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
McFadden tries to clinch but Newell is having none of it.
McFadden has been working on his striking defense in training and it's paying off as Newell is landing a low percentage of strikes.

Newell has McFadden pressed up against the cage. He's trying to work for a single leg takedown. Newell pulls back from the cage and twists to the side, sending McFadden tumbling to the mat - Newell dives into McFadden's guard.
Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show!
Newell is pushing down on McFadden's leg trying to pass to half guard. McFadden is fighting to maintain full guard but Newell has managed to sneak the leg through.
McFadden tries to kick Newell off but Newell keeps his base steady and stays in half guard.
Neither fighter is being very active at the moment, with Newell in particular looking to stall.

McFadden's corner are shouting for him to stand up but that's bad cornering - how is he meant to stand up when he's mounted? He should be looking to improve his position on the ground before trying to stand back up.

The crowd growing excited in anticipation of a finish here! Right on cue, Newell cracks his opponent with a massive right hand that draws loud cheers!
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
McFadden tries to buck Newell off but he can't manage it.

That was a close second round but I would say that Duke Newell will probably get the nod.
