Markberg has chosen Public Enemy - Rebel Without A Pause as his entrance music. Joe Derby is staring across the cage at his opponent, tweaking his nipples... Tweaking his own nipples that is.

5 - 2 - 0, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, Wally Markberg! The judges for this bout are Josh West, Jeff Smith and Paul Gruel.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Markberg fails with a takedown attempt. Derby ducks down and throws a hook to the body. A decent looking cross lands there for Derby.
It looks like Wally Markberg has been cut. A telegraphed right hand from Derby misses the target. Markberg takes one to the side of the head.
Derby is the aggressor but that punch slipped nicely by Markberg. We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. Markberg scores with a nice takedown into half guard. Let's see what he's got on the ground. Derby pushes Markberg off and gets back to his feet. The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here. Derby stuffs a takedown. It's all about dictating where the fight takes place and Derby wants it to stay on the feet. Markberg throws a right and a left that Derby avoids nicely. Markberg told us before the fight that he's been working on his elbows. An under utilised technique these days - let's see if it can sway the outcome of the fight. Markberg taking a break, stalling in the clinch.
Derby is trying to push Markberg away but Markberg has him pressed against the cage, so he's going nowhere. Good body shot from Markberg.

Markberg is throwing a lot of body shots here, looking to wear down Derby rather than just go for the knockout. Markberg has closed the distance and engaged Derby in a clinch.

Wally Markberg seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout. Markberg scores with a reasonable looking shot to the body. Derby doesn't seem bothered though. Derby is really head hunting here, hardly looking to strike to the body at all. Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here. Markberg rushes Derby and presses him up against the cage. A right hand to the body from Markberg.
Markberg putting his Muay Thai to good use. He has Derby in a tight clinch and is doing some damage with knees to the body. Markberg comes over the top with an elbow. That landed flush. Markberg lands a glancing elbow in the clinch. Markberg stalling here - the referee won't stand for too much of that.

Joe Derby's cut is getting worse. A head punch blocked on the inside by Markberg. Markberg throws a hook to the body. More of an arm punch but it's all scoring with the judges. Markberg works for underhooks and lands a body shot in the process.

Markberg punishes Derby's body with a nice straight punch. Markberg cracks Derby with a big right hand that sends him crashing to the floor. Markberg has the opportunity to follow him to the ground but instead he's beckoning Derby to stand back up! Oh Derby is still all over the place! His legs are completely gone! Will he be able to recover?!! Derby looks up at the clock. Bad move! Markberg lands a right hand from hell, dropping Derby. Markberg pounces and finishes the fight with a flurry of punches and elbows.

A very excited looking Wally Markberg made sure he remembered to thank all the fans both in the arena and on the internet. He said all the coolest people spend all day on MMA websites, which got a big reaction.
