The judges for this bout are James Atkins, Andrew Berry and Daniel Bishop.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Donk. Donaire catches John right on the button with a cross.
Donaire goes for a spinning back kick but it misses.
Donaire lunges in with an uppercut that skims his opponent's chin.
John misses with a low kick.
Donaire connects with a right hand. John shakes it off.
John swats away the attempt to clinch by Donaire.
We've been told by Donaire's head coaches at English Top Team - THE Hybrid Gym (11 ELITE ) that he's been working on his takedown defense in preparation for this fight.
John shoots and misses
and Donaire counters with a stiff right hand.
John is rocked!
Donaire feints a straight left to the body, then turns around with a flashy move and hits Johns jaw with a dramatic spinning back fist!
John is still on wobbly legs! Can Donaire finish him?
John takes one on the chin but keeps coming.
John throws a sloppy head kick
and Donaire counters by clinching up.
Donaire throws a vicious knee straight up the middle but John blocks it with crossed arms.
Donaire is looking to score with knees to the body. Maybe he'll change it up and go body then head. John is defending well for now.
The crowd are loving this. Great action here.
Donaire breaks from the clinch.
John is a painfully thin specimen of a man. You do wonder whether a good body kick would snap him clean in two.
Donaire scores with a straight right hand, right through his opponent's guard.
Donaire closes the distance and clinches.

John drops down for a takedown but doesn't get it.
Donaire breaks the clinch and we're back to striking at distance.
John misses with a takedown
and Donaire counters by moving into the clinch. Good anticipation by Donaire.
Nonito Donaire has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of John John.
John has Donaire pressed up against the cage and is working for takedown. Donaire manages to improve position though and keeps the fight standing.

Donaire gets control of John's arms and successfully pulls guard. Donaire will no doubt be looking for submissions off his back.

John seems to have recovered his senses.
Donaire scrambles and gets back to his feet.
John shoots in for a takedown but Donaire shows good takedown defense.

and John takes a counter punch right on the button for his troubles.

John is pinned up against the cage taking some big shots here. The referee is looking closely deciding whether he should stop the fight.
Nonito Donaire is looking to keep the fight on the feet at all costs.
John throws a body kick that misses.

and Donaire counters with a nice double leg into side control. John won't be happy with that.

Donaire wants to stand but John is controlling his arm.

Donaire has had enough of the ground for now and decides to stand.
Donaire misses with a double jab.
John has his takedown stuffed
and Donaire counters by moving into the clinch. Good anticipation by Donaire.
Donaire prevents John from breaking the clinch.

Donaire's corner calls for him to break the clinch, which he does.
John John seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Donaire scores with a slapping inside leg kick.
Donaire lands with an overhand left.
John gets his takedown attempt stuffed easily
and Donaire counters with a crisp hook to the side of the head.
John tries to clinch up but Donaire circles away and keeps his distance.
John shoots for a double leg takedown but Donaire sprawls well. He's pushed John's face into the mat and manages to get back to his feet relatively easily.
Donaire throws a right high kick that is partially blocked by John.
John takes one on the button.
John takes a really solid shot there but just smiles back and shrugs his shoulders.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.
Nonito Donaire dominated that round.
The fighters get back to their feet, the hooter sounds and we're back to the action!
Donaire clinches.
John tries to jump guard but he falls flat on his backside. Donaire smiles and moves away.
John fails in his attempt to clinch.
Donaire throws a body kick that sends a sickening thudding noise reverberating around the arena.
John shoots for a takedown but Donaire saw that one coming a mile off and avoided it easily.
Donaire slips in close and lands a nice hook before moving back out of range.
Donaire keeps the fight on the outside.

and Donaire connects with a straight left hand counter down the middle.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
John takes a swing at Donaire's ribcage but misses.
Donaire feinted with a counter takedown.

enabling Donaire to counter with a crisp jab.

John is looking for the big counter here.

Donaire cracks John with a nice right hand that draws applause from the crowd.
Donaire throws an overhand right that drops John like a sack of potatoes! Donaire dives in to finish the fight with more strikes and this one is all over!
