Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between Mike McGuire (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Aznar Thrul (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). McGuire comes to the cage accompanied by Five Finger Death Punch - Jekyll And Hyde. Aznar Thrul has the eye of the tiger tonight.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
12 - 5 - 0, fighting out of New York, Mike McGuire! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
22 - 21 - 2, fighting out of Las Vegas, Aznar Thrul! The judges for this bout are William Gold, Andrew Berry and Chris Edwards.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! McGuire misses with a kick to the body.
McGuire throws a right hand that misses
and Thrul counters with a crisp hook to the side of the head. Thrul shoots in for a takedown but doesn't get it. Thrul pivots, looking for a leg kick but McGuire is out of range and Thrul settles back down. Thrul gets tackled into the cage by McGuire. McGuire maintains the clinch. McGuire lands a hook that snaps the head of Thrul backwards. Thrul digs a right hand into McGuire's ribs. Those have got to be taking their toll on McGuire's gas tank. Nice body punch from McGuire - that landed with a thud.

McGuire tightens his grip and picks Thrul up, before dumping him to the ground. Thrul manages to land in guard. Hammerfist, elbow! yells McGuire's corner. There ya go! There ya go! Thrul is trying to control the position from the bottom.
We've been hearing good reports from McGuire's training camp. Apparently he has been rolling around with some good quality BJJ practitioners and has been sharpening his skills. Let's see if that has an impact on the fight today. Thrul has a loose triangle. He'll be looking to tighten that up but McGuire can see exactly what he's planning and manages to posture up and free himself. The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here. McGuire is just sitting in guard, looking to avoid any submissions.
That's one minute gone in the round. McGuire is in close to Thrul's body, working some short punches and elbows. McGuire stopping the sweep attempt from Thrul. The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing. Thrul looking for submissions from the bottom here. Moving his hips around, possibly looking for an armbar.
McGuire with a nice head shot there. Thrul wants to sweep here but McGuire controlling him for the moment. McGuire slows down the pace of the fight, as he sits in guard.
That's two minutes gone in the round. My god... these two guys really need to pick up the pace or everyone will leave to go get a beer. Thrul keeping moving, preventing McGuire from controlling successfully. Thrul has momentary wrist control but McGuire slips an elbow through the middle. Thrul pulls McGuire in close to prevent any damage. McGuire postures up in Thrul's guard and throws a big left but Thrul blocks it. McGuire wants to control from the top but Thrul keeps moving. Thrul looking to sweep here. No luck so far. McGuire postures up and lands some nice ground and pound. Thrul is trying to control the position from the bottom.
That's three minutes gone in the round. McGuire keeps in close for a moment and lands a decent shot to the side of Thrul's head. Thrul working from the bottom, still in full guard. He's managed to get a loose triangle. McGuire doesn't seem to be doing much to defend here, obviously he feels comfortable in the position. McGuire manages to throw the legs off his shoulder and he's back into guard - no problem. Thrul working a defensive guard here.
McGuire controls the pace of the fight for a moment. McGuire working some ground and pound from guard but it's not doing any damage. A big thud reverberates around the arena there as McGuire accidentally thumps the mat. Hopefully he's not broken his hand. Thrul punching to the body, from the bottom. Thrul can't keep his opponent in guard - McGuire advances to half guard, no doubt looking to mount. Thrul wants to get back to full guard.
That's four minutes gone in the round. Thrul is staying active underneath McGuire, who seems content to just control the action from this position. McGuire working Thrul over with strikes. McGuire looks to score some points with some ground and pound. McGuire is controlling the pace.

McGuire not throwing his punches with enough precision this time. The crowd thankful this round is nearly over. Thrul is trying to get back to full guard. Thrul on the receiving end of some nice ground and pound. And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.
Mike McGuire dominated that round. That's time! McGuire's corner gives him a slap on the ass as he gets ready to fight.
Thrul tries a low kick but McGuire avoids it. McGuire throws a leg kick that is checked letting Thrul counter with a right hand. McGuire looking to take his opponent's legs away with the low kicks.
McGuire defending well as Thrul loads up on a big left hand. Thrul swats away the attempt to clinch by McGuire. Nice sprawl there from Thrul as McGuire shoots in. McGuire misses with an uppercut. Thrul saw that one coming. Thrul only half commits to the counter leg kick. A nice inside leg kick there by Thrul. That's going to slow McGuire down. We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. McGuire misses with a wild combination.

That's one minute gone in the round. Thrul lands a hook to the body. It's hard to tell if that hurt McGuire or not. McGuire blocks an uppercut.

Thrul is defending well against a takedown attempt. Thrul on the defensive, avoiding the knees to the body.

Thrul stands up over McGuire, holding his feet. He dives back in and lands a decent shot to the head. McGuire looking to hit a scissor sweep but Thrul is one step ahead there.
That's two minutes gone in the round. McGuire trying to keep a closed guard but Thrul is proving a slippery customer.
McGuire looking to sweep here. No luck so far. Thrul wants to control from the top but McGuire keeps moving. Thrul being controlled here momentarily.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Thrul trying to control but McGuire is working from the bottom. McGuire pulls Thrul in close to prevent any damage.
The referee has decided to stand the fighters back up, so we'll restart on the feet. McGuire bobs and weaves and then throws a good body kick. McGuire tries to check a leg kick but that clearly hurt him. McGuire ducks down and throws a hook to the body but Thrul moves away. McGuire thuds a left hand into Thrul's body. Good leg kick by Thrul there. It's the ones that make that thud noise that hurt and that was an almighty thud.

That's four minutes gone in the round. McGuire shoots in looking for a takedown. Thrul tries to sprawl out of it but McGuire keeps driving through. The fighters are pinned against the cage. Thrul manages to get underhooks and after a bit of a struggle, circles away and we're back to standing. That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Mike McGuire. That's going to take a lot out of him. Thrul throws a solid leg kick but McGuire takes the impact on his shin and smiles at Thrul. McGuire misses with a hook
and Thrul counters with a nice double leg into half guard. McGuire is trying to defend against the ground and pound but Thrul scores with a couple of nice shots. Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd. McGuire wants to get back to full guard but Thrul has mounted him! McGuire is writhing around trying to get back to his feet. Thrul punishing his opponent with strikes. Thrul looking to control but McGuire is working nicely, looking to advance position himself. McGuire slips a leg in and gets back to half guard. And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.
Aznar Thrul showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards. The fighters get back to their feet, the hooter sounds and we're back to the action! This is the final round!
A head kick misses from Thrul. McGuire throws a leg kick that is checked and Thrul counters with a good right hand that lands right on the jaw. McGuire wants to clinch up but Thrul keeps it at a distance. A little jabbing left from Thrul on the counter but it doesn't find it's target. Thrul misses the jab. McGuire changes levels looking for a counter takedown but doesn't commit. McGuire avoids the head kick by Thrul.
Thrul takes a jab right on the nose. That must have hurt but he shrugs his shoulders and looks to return the favor. McGuire ducks down and throws a hook to the body but Thrul moves away. Thrul is looking for the big counter here. A nice leg kick lands there from McGuire. We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. McGuire scores with a jab. Thrul acknowledges it with a nod of the head. Thrul moves to clinch but McGuire breaks away letting McGuire counter with a right hand. Thrul will need to tighten up his combinations if he doesn't want to gas himself out, swinging at thin air.
That's one minute gone in the round. Thrul scoring well with a low kick there.
McGuire catches Thrul with a nice straight right. He seems pissed - ooooh, it's on now! On like donkey kong! McGuire stuffs the takedown. The fighters circle momentarily. McGuire darts into range and connects with a nice straight punch. An inside leg kick lands from Thrul. Excellent takedown into side control there by McGuire. McGuire grinds an elbow into Thrul's temple. McGuire grinds an elbow into Thrul's temple. Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show! McGuire lands an elbow.
That's two minutes gone in the round. McGuire works a knee to the body and follows up with a nice elbow to the head. Thrul tries to work a leg under to get back to half guard but McGuire wriggles his own leg back out and remains in side control. McGuire just content to control the position. You can see the frustration on Thrul's face, being in this tough position on the bottom. Thrul regains half guard there - taking advantage of McGuire's attempt to lay and pray for a moment. McGuire prevents Thrul from improving his position.
That's three minutes gone in the round. McGuire working over Thrul with some ground and pound. Thrul looks like he wants out of this position, which is understandable. Thrul wants to control but McGuire is keeping busy and won't allow it. The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work. Thrul is working for an escape here. He's hooked one of McGuire's legs and he's managed to sneak out and take McGuire's back! Thrul lands with a couple of good shots - one to the side of the head and one questionable shot that could be viewed as to the back of the head but the referee lets it go.
Mike McGuire overall seems to be getting the better of the ground position in the fight so far. Thrul is hanging on to McGuire's back as he tries to escape.

Thrul is working an open guard here, looking to improve his position. No doubt that will leave him open to counters but at least he's being more offensive. McGuire pushing down on Thrul's thigh, trying to pass to half guard. He's managed it... Nice work.
That's four minutes gone in the round. Thrul wants to get back to full guard. Thrul tries to strike from the bottom but it doesn't land. Thrul looking to work for a kimura from the bottom. Thrul trying to keep hold of his opponent's head but McGuire manages to pass to mount!
McGuire working away from the top, dropping strikes. The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here. McGuire prevents Thrul from getting the reversal. McGuire is landing with some decent strikes but Thrul is trying to advance his position so the referee is letting the fight continue. McGuire is really dominating this fight. Is there anything that Thrul can do to turn this around? Thrul is looking to get to half guard. McGuire raining down hammerfists from mount.
And that's the end of the fight! Mike McGuire showed his dominance in that final round. Well McGuire has outscored his opponent in every aspect of the fight today. Only a scarily incompetent judge or two will keep him from a well deserved win... Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
