Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the heavyweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Leroy Head! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
0 - 2 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Appachai Hoppataki! The judges for this bout are Daniel Franklin, George Francis and Robert Twigg.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Hoppataki has his head slapped from side to side by a 3 punch combination. That must have hurt him. Hoppataki fails with a takedown attempt. Head could do with losing a few pounds - he looks very soft around the mid section, to put it politely. Hoppataki lands the left hand. Hoppataki looks frustrated there after his takedown attempt is stuffed easily. We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. Head shoots in for a takedown from distance. He catches Hoppataki napping and manages to drive through into side control! Head scoring with punches and elbows. Head has been looking to land a fair amount of strikes on the ground. He might be looking to soften his opponent up in order to work for a submission. Head working the head with strikes.
That's one minute gone in the round. Head lands a knee to the body and follows it up with some ground and pound to the head. That will wear Hoppataki down.
Head is working Hoppataki over with some ground and pound from side control. Hoppataki can't do much from the bottom here. Hoppataki is being controlled here. Hoppataki takes an elbow right on the bridge of the nose and winces in pain.

Hoppataki tries to work a leg under to get back to half guard but Head wriggles his own leg back out and remains in side control. Hoppataki is not in a great position here, taking some shots. Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd. Head in side control lands a nice looking series of punches and elbows. Head seems to have a rather negative gameplan on the ground. He seems keen to just score the takedown and hold down Hoppataki for as long as he can get away with. Head shoots in looking for a single leg takedown. Hoppataki is trying to defend but Head finishes it well and ends up in half guard. Let's see if he can advance position further. Hoppataki wants to stand back up but Head manages to pass into side control.
Head landing strikes. Hoppataki looks more muscular than last time we saw him. He must have been on the weights. Head is really dominating this fight. Is there anything that Hoppataki can do to turn this around? Head scores with punches from side control. Head in side control lands a decent elbow. Head lands some shots froms side control. We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. Head working the ground and pound. Hoppataki is trying to control Head's posture but Head avoids it. Head has knee on belly and now moves to full mount! Trouble for Hoppataki! Hoppataki is breathing heavily. Head unloading with bombs! Hoppataki really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Head. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out.
That's one minute gone in the round. Head lands a big shot there that rocks Hoppataki but he's holding on and managing to survive for now.

He's hopped off into side control, looking to tighten the submission... is it going to work? He's given up a good position looking for it. Hoppataki looks OK. Oh, I spoke too soon, he's out! That must have been tighter than I thought! Excellent work there by Head! Submission of the night perhaps?
