Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the super heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 0 - 5 - 0, fighting out of New York, Santiago Guzman!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of New York, Lowell Bockert!
The judges for this bout are Anthony Taglia, David Schapiro and Franklyn Lucas.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Guzman tries to clinch up against the cage, rushing in to close the distance. Bockert manages to break the clinch and circles back to the middle of the mat.

Bockert shoots in for a takedown from distance. He catches Guzman napping and manages to drive through into side control!
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

Bockert decides to stand up, so the ref orders Guzman to his feet.

Bockert closes the distance and presses his opponent up against the cage.
Some stalling of biblical proportions here from Bockert.
Guzman has had enough of the clinch and is looking to separate.

Bockert successfully pulls guard.

Bockert looking for submissions from the bottom here. Moving his hips around, possibly looking for an armbar.

Guzman could do with losing a few pounds - he looks very soft around the mid section, to put it politely.

Guzman got a little sloppy there for a moment and Bockert has worked his way into a loose triangle - can he finish it?! No, Guzman has managed to get both his arms back between Bockert's legs - danger averted.

The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Bockert lands with a heel strike from the guard.

A few boos can be heard. I'm sure they will multiply if the fighters don't pick up the pace.
Bockert pulls Guzman in to control the position.

Guzman avoids a guillotine attempt easily.
Bockert is avoiding any damage by keeping wrist control.
Guzman won't allow Bockert to sweep him here.
Guzman stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Bockert swivels though and keeps the full guard.

Bockert is working actively from the bottom, looking for submissions. He's escaped his hips to the side and he's going for an armbar! Guzman has his hands clasped together but Bockert extends and breaks Guzman's desperate grasp, forcing a tap out due to armbar! Nice BJJ displayed there by Bockert.

Ladies and gentlemen, after 3:56 of round 1, we have a winner by way of Submission (Armbar). Lowell Bockert!
